Chapter 21

"Holy shit! It's catching up!" Eld called out.

"Captain! Engage the 3DM Gear? Captain!" Petra called out.

"We need to hurry! This is not an abnormal!" I called out. She's definitely a shifter, and not just appearances give it away, but it's movements! It killed that soldier in cold blood, not even eating him!

"What'd you say?!" Eren cried.

A few soldiers followed behind, flying towards her. One tried to hook onto her with their wires, but all she did was yank it and smash them into the trees.

"Oh my god... We need to move faster!!" I cried out.

"Captain! Your orders!" Petra pleaded.

"It's dangerous! Let's take it out! Tell us to engage sir!" Oulo called out.

"I'll cut the bitch!" Eld warned. Levi remained silent.

"Levi! Give us your orders!!" I called out.

"She's gaining on us! We should take her out!" Gunther yelled out.

"Your orders, sir! Please!!" Eren begged. I looked over at the titan and she had a devilish grin on her face. She's staring right at Eren! She's after him!!

"She's after Eren! We need to move!!" I shouted.

Levi turned to look at us.

"Everyone, cover your ears now!" He ordered. He pulled out one of the signal guns but this time it looked different. He shot off an acoustic round. It was extremely loud, to distract her perhaps?

"What was that?!" Eren asked.

"Never mind me. What is our mission? Is it to simply act on impulse in the heat of the moment? Let me answer that question for you, it's not. This squad's mission is to keep this brat alive whatever the cost. Don't forget it. We keep pushing forward on horseback, is that clear?" Levi ordered.

"As a bell, sir!" Petra replied. Everyone looked serious with his orders. Eren however looked like he was doubting Levi.

"But for how long? We can't keep running forever! She's right on top on us as it is, if we don't do something soon she'll-" Eren saw the reinforcements trying to slow the female titan down. "No! They keep coming! They're all gonna die if we don't turn back and do something!" Eren called out.

"Eyes front! Stop looking behind us!" Gunther shouted.

"Seriously?!"

"Keep pace with the group! Maintain top speed or we're all dead!" Eld ordered.

"Eld, please!"

I couldn't look back. It's already devastating as it is. Watching those people die for nothing. Suddenly I heard another man's screams as he was killed. I'm a coward... I can't even fight...

"Another one! Dammit, he didn't have to die! Come on, there's still one left! We can save him before it's too late!" Eren called out.

"Do as you're told, Eren! Eyes forward!" Petra ordered.

"How can all of you just ignore what's happening back there?! Are you telling me to abandon my comrades is that it?!" Eren bellowed.

"Dammit Eren, yes!" Petra shouted.

All this bloodshed, and for what? Why must there be death in every corner?

I noticed Eren put one of his blades down and moved his hand towards his mouth. Is he going to transform?!

"Stop it, Eren! You can only transform when your life is in extreme danger! That was the agreement we made! You swore an oath!" Petra shouted.

"His life is in danger! That titan is after Eren!!" I shouted.

"I wouldn't blame you. Do as your conscious dictates. Eren listen, you are not inherently evil. Your ability to change doesn't make you a monster. That said, it could be the other way around. How are you supposed to know where to draw the line? Whether you lose control or freely give it up, maybe it's the same. Look Eren, we don't agree because our experiences brings us to exposing views, that's life. There's no reason to go against how you see it. The choice is yours. Trust yourself or trust the people who are willing to put their life on the line for you. I don't know which way is better, I never have. Should I act on my own instincts or put my life in the hands of my own comrades, either way there's not guarantee, you choose what you choose." Levi explained.

I noticed Eren's expression twisted.

"Trust us, Eren!" Petra pleaded.

"Eren! Come on, make up your damn mind!" Levi called out. Eren took a been breath.

"I'm with you!!" He called out.

We heard the screams of another death. Eren wanted to turn back but he retrained himself and looked forward. The titan was getting faster, she's like an athlete!

"She's getting faster!" I called out.

"Just keep moving! We'll outrun the bitch!" Levi called out. I saw that she was reaching out for Eren.

"Watch out!!" I shouted. Eren gasped. He didn't have time to react, but I did. I jumped on top of my horse and jumped towards Eren using the 3DM gear.

"(y/n), stop!!" Levi bellowed. I drew my blades and sped towards her.

"Don't even think about it!!!" I bellowed, slicing her entire hand off. Everyone was shocked.

Suddenly she stopped and we all noticed she was lead into a trap. Many soldiers were hiding around.

"FIRE!!!!" Erwin bellowed. Suddenly thick speared wires shot towards her. I managed to dodge and jump back into my horse before I was done for. The titan covered up her weak spot as she got shot and tangled with the wires.

The rest of the squad managed to run away. I gripped the reins and took a deep breath.

"(y/n)! What the hell was that?!" Levi bellowed. No point in saying anything, he's just going to insult and lecture me again. We all switched to 3DM gear. Levi zipped next to me. "You idiot, what were you thinking? She could have killed you!" Levi scolded.

"I'm sorry!" I looked away. Levi let out a sigh.

"Everyone, keep moving forward, don't stop. I have to break away for a while." Levi ordered.

"Wait, I'll come with you!" I shouted.

"No! One of us needs to stay with Eren, that that is you." Levi replied.

"But if they captured the female titan then I would be needed back there!" I yelled.

"No! This is an order! I'll handle her, you just keep moving and stay alive! All of you!" Levi ordered, before zipping away.
