It was the day we set out for the mission. We were leaving in the evening since that was the best time we could safely travel since titans weren't active at night. Erwin and the rest of us said our goodbyes to the rest of the higher ups. Of course it wasn't really goodbye, more like see you when we get back.

Levi, Hange and I were being brought to the top of the wall until we heard shouting from below.

"Hange! Good luck!" Yelled a familiar voice.

"Flegel?" Hange was surprised.

We then heard cheering from everyone else.

"Are they actually cheering?" I wondered, scratching my head.

"Go out there and take back wall Maria for us!" Yelled someone else.

"The future of mankind is up to you!"

"Someone's got a big mouth." Levi muttered, as we walked over to Erwin.

"Yeah well that celebration did get a little rowdy." Hange mentioned.

"You can say that again." I added.

"Actually, we ordered all of that meat from the Reeves company so..."

"Flegel..." Two of the Squad leaders were unimpressed.

"Yeah!! You can count on us!" Sasha, Connie and Jean shouted together.

"I wonder how long it's been since the Scouts got a send off like this." Someone mentioned.

"I don't know. I'm not sure if we ever have." Someone answered.

"Well as far as I'm aware of at least this is a first." Erwin commented. Suddenly he threw his fist in the air and started screaming out of excitement. His face said it all.

I feel like I would've fallen off the wall if I was standing any closer to the edge. I felt myself jump out of my own skin.

Erwin then pulled his blade out and pointed it in the direction we were going to go.

"The operation to retake wall Maria begins now!" Erwin shouted.

We quickly got our horses down onto the other side of the wall and wasted no time in charging off.

"Scouts, move out!!" Erwin ordered.

When night came, we were going through the forest on foot to give our horses a rest. Hange invented lamps out of titan skin and it did wonders for us to see at night. No more fires.

We were ordered to wear our hoods to conceal Eren's identity. I didn't have to worry so much since the enemy didn't know who I was and who controlled my titan.

We had been walking for hours and we were concerned we wouldn't get to Shiganshina before dawn. A few people were beginning to worry.

"As soon as we get over this mountain, Shiganshina should be there." Someone mentioned.

"Titan on the left! Everyone, hold! Light up the area!" Jean shouted from behind us.

"What?!" I looked around and we saw a titan sitting against the rock.

"It's alright. I'm pretty sure he's asleep. He doesn't look like one of the new types that can move around at night. Well isn't that a shame? Leave him be." Hange ordered.

"I can't believe we walked past him without evening noticing..." I murmured, feeling a little angry with myself.

"Yeah I'm with you there. But it's worth it. The moonless night is protecting us. Light from the moon is really just reflected sunlight. From what I can tell, all that reflected is all that the new titans need in order to move." Hange explained.

"Well it's a good thing we're using the new moon's cover." I added.

"There's no guarantee that we won't have a repeat of before. For all we know that sleeper could've been a moonlight titan itself. Maybe we can capture one someday." Hange began getting excited from the idea of it.

"Is there anything that doesn't excite you?" I asked. Hange shook her head.

I looked over my shoulder and noticed Eren looking nervous. I could even see his hands shaking while holding the lamp.

I stopped in my tracks and waited for Eren until he was next to me. I began walking beside him.

"Hey, are you okay?" I asked.

"Huh? What do you mean?" Eren asked.

"You're shaking. Are you scared?" I asked.

"Huh?! No! Of course I'm not scared!" Eren snapped.

"That's not what your hands are telling me. You're nervous, I get it." I pointed out.

"It's just because it's cold out here! I feel like my hand's gonna freeze off!" Eren blurted.

"Is that so? I've been feeling cold as well then. I'm scared for what's gonna happen. Who knows what'll happen. If we screw up, we will never get a chance like this again." I explained.

"What are you, some sort of mind reader now?" Eren questioned.

"Eh? I thought you said you weren't scared." I teased. Eren elbowed me in the shoulder and I couldn't help but let out a small laugh.

"Anyway, if worse comes to worse and you do have to fight Reiner, you'll be able to take him on alone, right?" I asked.

"Yeah... All that combat training should pay off. Compared to you, Reiner is weak." Eren answered.

"Aww really? Thanks Eren." I cheered.

"It wasn't supposed to be a compliment." Eren muttered.

"Yeah, I know. It just makes me happy to know that I've helped you in a way. I'll help in any way I can, but if that beast titan shows up, I'll have to fight it. From what I've seen from reports, they describe it to be at least seventeen metres tall. And apparently has long arms. I don't know how strong it is, but I know that I'll have to be the one to deal with it." I explained.

"You need to be careful as well. They don't know you but that's the first thing they'll try to find out. And from what you've said in the past, the titan you wield is different from the others." Eren pointed out.

"Yes... It isn't one of the nine that descended from the Founding titan. This one was created through countless experiments from other titans. I think Marly had something to do with it. Create artificial titans that more soldiers can wield and then eventually attack the walls. However, no one could handle it and they died shortly after inheriting the power." I explained.

"How are you able to wield it?" Armin asked.

"I think it's because of my royal blood. And it wasn't injected it me, I had to eat the previous person in order to get it. But I can't tell you more because those memories are still a little fuzzy. It's actually a good thing that I came to Paradis. If they found out that I had royal blood and only we could be capable of wielding it, I would have been trapped there and held hostage." I explained.

"What would have happened?" Eren asked.

"Force me to bare children over and over. People with royal blood aren't respected anymore, more like they'll be useful for horrible experiments." I explained.

It went silent until Mikasa spoke up.

"Hey, this area is familiar." She mentioned, looking at her surroundings. We stopped and looked at her.

"I think we came here for firewood." Mikasa mentioned. Eren's expression was surprised as well.

"I see the foot of the mountain!" Someone called out. We all looked ahead.

"There are signs of a trail ahead!"

"Well, looks like we're close." Eren said. We kept moving forward. I could hear the sound of the river. We moved until I could see the wall.

We've made it to Shiganshina.
