It's been around two months since the attack from Rod Reiss. And a month since we brought the orphans to the surface. Historia spends most of her time here, looking after the children. I come back and forth between the city and the orphanage. Hange has wanted Eren to do experiments with his hardening ability and has wanted me to support him in my titan form. I've even been giving him combat training in titan form, to test how he can use his ability against his enemies. He really has improved.
We even tried to make a weapon that would stop the titans without any soldiers putting themselves at risk. We would be testing it from two days from now.
I was in Grace's room checking on her condition. Her illness remained the same but her moods were better. She had become happy and wasn't as shy. Her brother felt more confident with leaving to go play with the other children. It made Grace happy to see him with a smile.
The sun pierced through the window and made the room warm.
"How are the experiments going?" Grace asked, as I was taking her temperature.
"They're going really well. Hange thinks we should be set to start using the weapons very soon." I explained.
"Hange sounds like a very interesting person, from what you've told me." Grace pointed out.
"Yes, definitely. She sure leaves a big first impression. When we first met, she grabbed me with excitement and yelled in my face, wanting to know all my secrets." I explained, as remembering it made me want to laugh.
"Secrets?"
"I mean research." I blurted.
I looked out the window and I could see Historia chasing the children around.
The children sure do love her.
I put away my equipment and stood up.
"I have to go back to Trost district this evening for a meeting with the Commander, and I won't be back until the experiments are over." I explained.
"I understand. Please be safe." Grace spoke, with a sweet smile. I smiled back and then made my leave.
I went outside and I could see Eren, Historia and Mikasa standing together, but for some reason, both Eren and Historia looked a little nervous. I made my way over to them.
"Eren, we need to get to Trost now. Hange is expecting us." I said.
"Yeah I hear ya." Eren explained, glaring at Mikasa.
"Where's the Captain?" Historia asked.
"He's already in Trost with the Commander. We test the anti-titan weapon in two days so that'll be exciting. I know Hange is becoming more impatient to try it out." I explained.
"I'm not surprised. She's been working us to the bone the whole time." Eren complained.
"Well now you're only problem is fighting. Making weapons can wait for a while." I pointed out.
~~
Eren and I made it to Trost that evening and met up with Hange.
"I'm so excited! I couldn't wait so I decided that we are doing the experiment tomorrow!" Hange cheered.
"Huh?!" Eren and I blurted.
"Tomorrow? But we just got here!" Eren blurted.
"I know but don't you wanna know if it works?! I wanna know now! But Erwin won't let me do it tonight since the titans aren't active..." Hange pouted.
