The next morning, I got up and ready for the day. This time I didn't bother putting the uniform on. I was going to report to Erwin about the discussion I had with Armin last night.
I put on a white buttoned up shirt on and simple black pants. Nothing fancy but it will do. I stood in front of my mirror, looking at my physique. I let out a sigh as I scratched my head.
"Why am I short? It's not fair." I mumbled. I noticed my knuckles were nearly completely healed, and the same went for the rest of my previous injuries. It confuses me every time, and maybe slightly worried.
"That's some impressive healing. Almost like a titan."
"Don't be ridiculous!"
"You'd think I'd know if I were a titan. I'm too short to be a titan anyway..." I mumbled, laughing at myself. But it is odd, me being able to heal so fast. Maybe it's due to all the medicine I received when I was younger.
Now that I think about it, Levi and I have really warmed up to each other. When we first met it was awkward and we'd end up arguing. But now we are having decent conversations and he's looking out for me, giving me the right advice, especially when I'm upset or angry. It could be due to the squad's deaths. I mean... I hugged him... Ugh... I hugged him!
"Ahh!! What's wrong with me?! Why did I hug him?!" I cried, pulling my hair. And then there was when I was crying, and Levi hugged me to calm me down. From the outside he may appear as a rude and strict clean freak Captain, but deep down he really does care for human life, especially the fallen.
Just thinking about him made my heart face. Why do I feel like this? Whenever we are close, I feel like I want to be near him all the time. Is this... No, it can't be... I can't have feelings for Levi...
I let out a tiring sigh and left the room with my journal. I arrived in front of Erwin's office and knocked on the door.
"Yes? Who is it?" Erwin called out.
"It's me, (y/n)." I replied.
"Come in." I opened the door and Erwin was sitting at his desk, filling in paperwork. "I assume you have something good to tell me?" Erwin asked, looking over.
"Yes, I do. We may have discovered who the female titan is." I replied. Erwin's eyes widened.
"Proceed."
I explained to him everything I knew, and he decided to capture her, but not without a plan.
"(y/n), I want you to tell Eren and Levi to wait in the mess hall. I'll collect Armin and a few others. Is that alright with you?" Erwin explained. I nodded and saluted him.
"Yes sir." I answered.
"Good. You look more like a soldier every day." Erwin pointed out.
"I wouldn't say that. I haven't even killed a titan yet." I murmured, giggling.
"You survived the expedition. And you know what it's like to watch our friends die in the jaws of a titan." Erwin spoke, in a serious voice. I gasped and reimaged Eld being killed by the female titan. I took a step back.
"A-Anyway, I better go and let the others know. I'll see you later." I stuttered, leaving the office. I headed straight to Levi's office and knocked on his door.
"State your name and business." Levi's voice ordered.
"It's (y/n). Erwin wants you to come to the mess hall for a discussion." I explained. I heard his footsteps walk to the door and it opened. Levi was wearing a plain white long-sleeved shirt with black pants. "Hey, we match!" I teased.
"Huh? Oh." Levi closed the door behind him and we began to walk to the mess hall together. There it goes again; my heart likes to speed it's beat when Levi's nearby. I then noticed a limp in Levi's walk and a pained look on his face.
"Are you okay? Is your leg still hurting?" I asked.
"Yeah, a little. But I'm fine." Levi replied.
"At least you were honest about it this time." I teased, putting my arms behind my back. Levi looked at me with a confused expression.
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"You always keep things to yourself. I think this is the first time I've seen this side of you." I answered, smiling.
"Tch. Don't get any weird thoughts, brat." Levi hissed, ruffling my hair.
"Hey! I just brushed it!" I blurted, grabbing his wrist and trying to take it off. "Ugh! Levi! Stop!" I cried. He removed his hand and sighed.
"How are you feeling today?" Levi asked, glancing over.
"A lot better. I've had a lot of time to think. I've been so overwhelmed that I can't control my emotions at all." I replied.
"That's to be expected."
"I still feel like that my father knows something that I don't. After we capture the female titan, I plan on going home." I mentioned. I heard a gasp in Levi's voice.
"You mean leave the scouts?" Levi questioned.
"Hm? Oh no! I didn't mean it like that! I just mean go home and see if I can find anything else." I replied.
"Good. I don't know what I'd do without you." Levi whispered.
"Huh? What was that?" I asked, unable to hear his mumbles.
"Nothing!" He blurted.
We arrived at the mess hall and for some reason, Eren was already there. He noticed us.
"(y/n), Captain Levi. What are you doing here?" He asked.
"Looking for you actually. I was gonna ask you to meet us here, but you bet me to it." I chuckled, placing my hands on my hips.
"Oh. Is something wrong?" Eren asked.
"Erwin wants to have a discussion with you, but he's grabbing a few people first." I answered, as Levi and I both sat down. There was a moment of silence.
"(y/n)." Eren spoke. I looked over. "I'm sorry. That day, after it all happened. I'm sorry I yelled at you." Eren murmured.
"It's fine. Don't worry about it. You had every right to be mad at me." I replied, resting my elbows on the desk.
"But, you nearly died, trying to protect me." Eren pointed out. Levi was glaring over at him.
"I did what I had to do. I can't let you die. It's my job to protect you." I answered, smiling. Eren still looked depressed. "Hey, you did save my life."
"How?"
"When you transformed, it distracted her, so she didn't step on me." I giggled.
"It's because she nearly killed you I transformed! When you hit the tree, I thought you were dead. All that blood. But I saw she was about to step on you and I didn't want to lose you either." Eren explained, gripping my hand. I blushed a little.
"That's sweet. I'm grateful to you. I can't say I owe you because I already paid you back." I snickered.
"How'd you do that?" Eren questioned.
"When Levi and I rescued you. I was the one who pulled you out of her mouth and carried you all the way back. Man were you slimy though. And you stunk of titan breath." I teased.
"I see. I'm sorry I put you through so much trouble again." Eren murmured. I giggled and wrapped my arm around his shoulder.
"Don't worry about it. I'm alive, you're alive so it's fine now."
"Right."
I noticed Levi glaring at me.
