"I'm sorry you ended up this way... If I could change anything, I'd hope for a better life for you and your mother... I'm so sorry, (y/n)..."
Ugh... Whose voice is that? Father? My real father...? Wait, when did he say that to me? Surely not before the attack, after... but... the only time I saw him again was when we visited Shiganshina, I would've remembered a conversation like that. Wait a minute, is this another forgotten memory?
Ugh, my head hurts, no, my whole body is aching. That's right, I'm asleep, aren't I? Well then, it's time to wake up.
I slowly open my eyes to reveal an unfamiliar ceiling. I narrow my eyes and circle the room, when suddenly a large figure is sitting next to me. I rub the blurriness out of my eye to reveal Levi sitting there with his head down.
"Levi?" I spoke up. My voice was sore, in fact, my body felt weak all over.
Levi heard me and lifted his head up. His eyes had a look of worry.
"You're awake. You okay?" He asked, in a tired voice.
"I'm fine, I think." I replied, showing a smile. I tried to sit up, but a sharp pain shot through my head, causing me to fall back. "Ugh!!" I let out a cry as I held my head.
"Stay down, you've got a fever." Levi ordered, as he pushed me down.
"A fever? What? No, that's impossible..." I murmured, feeling confused.
"What? Did you expect titan shifters to be immune to the cold as well? You're sick, most likely the reason why you fainted earlier. But you seem to be fine." Levi explained.
I didn't reply; I only watched as he was rubbing the top of my hand with his thumb.
"You've been pushing yourself too hard, and the stress is taking its toll on you. You need a lot of rest." Levi explained.
"I see, I guess I did nothing but cause trouble for you again..." I murmured. Levi let out a groan and flicked my forehead.
"Ouch!" I cried.
"Stop being stupid. You know as your fiancé, it's my job to worry. I don't want anything bad to happen to you." Levi scolded, but gently. I blushed when he said the word 'fiancé'. It makes me happy to hear him say that, but a little embarrassed too.
"Sorry, Levi." I replied, smiling. Levi stood up.
"I have to head out now, try to get some rest. I'll let the others know to bring you food." Levi said, as he began to step back. I quickly sat up and grabbed his arm, despite the strain my body was feeling now. "What?"
"Um! I... Err, nothing." I murmured. Levi smirked and leaned closer, planting his lips against mine.
"It has been a while since we kissed, hasn't it? Don't worry, I won't be long." Levi patted my head and opened the door. I gave him a sad smile, then before I knew it, he was gone.
I laid back down and rubbed my hands together. My thumb was a little sensitive. I had a look and was shocked with what I saw.
"Wha...?"
The papercut from before, it was still there. Why? Why hasn't it healed yet? Is it because I'm sick?
Shortly, there was a knock at the door.
"Yes?" I called out.
"It's me, Eren. Can I come in?"
"S-Sure." I replied, feeling nervous. The door opened, and he was holding a tray of food.
"Hey, I brought you this." Eren spoke, as he placed the tray down on the table next to me.
"Thanks a lot, Eren." I praised, smiling. Eren shrugged his shoulders and scratched the back of his head, turning his gaze away.
"Don't thank me, thank the Captain. He's the one who made you this." Eren mentioned. My eyes widened to his statement.
"Really? He did?" I asked.
"Yeah, I didn't even know he could cook. He seemed pretty worried about you when you passed out. We all were." Eren explained, as his expression softened. I look away at the ceiling.
"Sorry for making you all worried. I don't know why I fainted. Guess I was just feeling under the weather." I murmured.
"Don't apologize. I've noticed you've been a little off lately. Are you okay?" Eren asked, as he sat down beside me. I gave him an encouraging smile.
"I'm fine. I guess my mother's death is taking a while to get over, but you don't need to worry about anything." I explained. Eren leaned over so his face was closer to mine. I blushed as he was getting a bit too close. "W-Wait...! W-What are you d-doing?" I asked, as his face was inches from mine.
Don't tell me he's going to kiss me again!
I felt something a little warm pressing against my forehead. I opened my eyes and saw that Eren was pressing his forehead against mine.
"You're still a little warm. Be sure to eat the food before it gets cold, it'll bring your strength back up." Eren advised, as he sat back up.
"Thank you, Eren..." I muttered. Eren's expression changed.
"Your face is really red..." Eren pointed out. I quickly covered myself up with the blanket. I heard Eren let out a light chuckle. "Get better soon, (y/n)." Eren said, as I heard him open the door and leave.
I peeked my head out and sat myself up. I looked over and saw there was a bowl of soup. It smelled and looked familiar. I picked the tray up and gently sat it in front of me.
"This smells familiar..." I murmured, as I grabbed the spoon. I had a taste and immediately I remembered something.
Flashback~
"Levi, (y/n), are you ready for dinner?" Kuchel asked, as she was serving a soup into two separate bowls. Levi and I sat on stools with excited looks on our faces.
"Yes please!" I cheered.
"I'm really hungry, Mama!" Levi cheered. Kuchel smiled gently and placed the bowls of soup in front of us.
"It's hot, so be careful." Kuchel warned. We both nodded and after a few minutes, we tried it.
"This is so yummy!" I cheered.
"Thank you, mama!" Levi cheered. We both smiled and continued eating.
Flashback over~
"Kuchel, Levi... Thank you..." I whispered.
