Levi X Reader A mission worth dying for

Chapter 11

My wounds were all healed up, rather fast in fact. I was searching for Levi to find out what got him upset. I walked through the hallways and bumped into Eren.

"Oh, sorry." I spoke.

"It's fine. I was actually coming to get you. Captain Levi ordered us all to return to the mess hall because he had something he wanted to discuss with everyone." Eren explained.

"Levi did? Yes right." I answered, following Eren to the mess hall. And everyone was sitting waiting for us again. Levi looked like he was in a really bad mood, and I mean, worse than usual. Is what I said that got him upset? But... I don't understand, how?

We went and sat down in the same spots as before.

"So Eren, how does it work? The whole transforming into a titan thing?" Eld asked, looking over. We all looked over.

"Wish I could tell you, but the fact is my memory's not clear, guess it's kinda like being in a trance. I do know that the trigger seems to be hurting myself in some way, like biting my hand." After he said that, I felt my heart rate speed up. Eren looked just as surprised as I did.

"You know something, (y/n)?" Gunther asked, looking over.

"Huh? Well, I just remember father mentioning something about that." I replied. Wait, should I really be saying that.

"Has your father even dealt with a titan shifter?" Oulo asked. I gasped. Should I tell them?

"No! At least, not to my understanding." I answered.

"You're not going to get anything out of him, apart from what the scribblers have laid out in the reports. Not that you know who won't have a go at it." Levi mentioned, sipping his tea. He has a very odd and unique way of holding his cup. I wonder why that is. "You'll be lucky to make it out alive if that one lays into you. Course it's only a matter of time."

Eren looked more nervous.

"Who are you talking about?!" Eren asked. Suddenly there was a loud thud on the door and a familiar voice groaned in pain.

"Hange?" I wondered. I walked over and opened the door for her.

"I'm so sorry. Good evening Team Levi! How is castle life treating everyone?" Hange greeted walking in.

"You're too early." Levi complained.

"Am I? Suppose I couldn't help myself." She answered, walking over towards Eren.

"Section Commander Hange?" Eren blurted.

"Hello Eren. In the event you haven't pieced it together yet, my job is to spear head the scout regiment's research team. I pretty much poke and prod at our captured titan specimens. I'd very much like your help." Hange explained.

"Wait a second! He's my test subject!" I pointed out.

"Don't worry, I'll need your knowledge too. Seems like we weren't able to trade brains on the matter." Hange laughed.

"In what way would you need my help? Like, what would I have to do?" Eren asked.

"Join me of course! On a quest of scientific discovery!" Hange cheered, with her face completely flushed.

"Should I be worried?" I whispered.

"Yes." Eld replied.

"I'm happy to help except it's not up to me. I'm under close restrictions ordered from the higher ups you see." Eren answered.

"Levi, what's on the docket for him tomorrow?" Hange asked.

"Clearing out all the weeds." He responded.

"Excellent then! Young man, tomorrow will be grand!" Hange cheered, grasping his hand.

"Okay... Just so I'm clear, what exactly will I be doing? Are you running experiments or something?" Eren asked.

"Idiot, shut up." Oulo mumbled.

"Ahh, I knew it. You possess a very curious mind." She whispered, looking intrigued.

Levi and the others stood up from their chairs and began to head out.

"You coming? (y/n)?" Petra asked.

"Sorry, but from the looks of things I think I better stay." I answered.

"Good luck then." Eld said. I gulped down. Hange took the seat next to Eren and I shifted closer to them.

"Now then, we should lay it all on a table. I very much would like to get better acquainted with a titan shifter." Hange looked happier than a child.

I learned that Hange gets most of her knowledge from the titans she's captured. She's experimented head on with them. I only know as much from what father taught me. I don't know what I could say which she doesn't already know. But... hearing everything from her was fascinating. One thing did upset me though, how bad she felt for hurting them. I tend to agree with her on some levels, but you can't deny they eat people for the soul purpose of killing. Eren was surprised and intrigued with her speech.

Eren requested that Hange explain more of the experiments in extra detail. Hange seemed happy with that request.

After a long night, it was soon morning. I was sleeping in my chair. Eren was struggling to stay awake but Hange was still full of lots to tell.

Suddenly a soldier burst through the door which made me jump.

"Section Commander Hange! Come quickly! The test subjects are dead! Both of them killed!" He blurted. Hange had an expression of horror.

We all quickly made our way back to the location where the captives were held. By the time we got there, they were nothing but a pile of steaming bones.

"NOOO!!!! How could this happen?! Someone tell me this isn't real!!" Hange screamed, falling to her knees.

"Who could have done this?" I asked.

"Leave it, this is a matter for the Military Police to take care of." Levi ordered.

"Yes sir." I replied. Eren stepped next to me.

"Is this a Soldier's work?" Gunther asked.

"Yeah, but they haven't pegged the one responsible yet. They were killed just before dawn apparently. By the time the guards got there the bastard cleared out on 3DM Gear." Eld explained. Levi walked away but right after, Erwin stood behind Eren.

"What is it you think you see?" Erwin asked. We both gasped and looked at him. "Who do you think the real enemy is here?" Eren was speechless. "Ignore me."

Seeing Hange crying over the titans... It feels like a pit in my stomach. Suddenly an image popped in my head. A little girl crying in front of a titan. The image it caused a pain in my head.

"Ugh...! What is that...?" I moaned, holding my forehead.

Suddenly I felt my hood being yanked.

"Wahh!" I nearly collapsed. I looked around and saw Levi. "What is it?!" I blurted.

"Come with me." He ordered.

"Yes sir." I replied. I quickly followed behind him.
