I looked up the actual name for trapezes so appreciate my efforts for this CloeTheTealSnake

hope I did your request justice

It wasn't much of a surprise when Robin decided to opt-out of a group activity for one reason or another. Most of the time it was Batman snatching him away for a mission or he was just too busy for them to hang out. The Young Justice team were just used to it at this point and decided not to take offence to it. After all, Batman was always making sure he was doing something so it was hardly his fault. Though, they thought this time Robin would blag it and join them instead of sticking to his work. They'd bought tickets to Haley's Circus and thought Robin, of all people, would've jumped at the chance to join them but Batman had him preoccupied for that evening. However, Robin didn't have a prior arrangement with Batman. His plans for that night were far from running around Gotham chasing criminals. No, although he loved his work, he'd left it for that night to do something even more fun than beating up a villain. You'll just have to wait and see what it is.

Their seats were in perfect view of both the stage and the static trapezes that were fixed to poles above the stage. "It's a shame Robin couldn't come," M'gann sighed. The last time they'd been to the circus, it had been for work but she could tell that Robin loved performing. His smiles to the audience were genuine and she could feel his excitement whenever he was stood above. "I know. It's probably killing him since he loves this place," Wally replied solemnly. He wondered if Batman knew why they were asking him to join them tonight. He might've let Robin go if he knew the circumstances. Everyone who knew Robin on that level knew how much Haley's circus meant to him. If things hadn't turned out so badly, Robin would probably still be in the circus till his last days. "Maybe he'll get a night off next time they're in town," Kaldur suggested optimistically.

"Yeah right. Bats will have him working to the bone till he burns out," Artemis argued.

"We can't do anything about it now, let's just watch the show," Connor interjected. He didn't want to miss the show thanks to his team bickering. He got enough of that when they were working, he didn't fancy hearing it in their off time.

The lights dimmed in the multicoloured tent and the stage lit up, drawing their attention. Haley appeared in the middle with a puff of smoke and grinned as he began to introduce the acts. Clowns rolled up in a small car and performed the classic skit of having loads of clowns inside a small car. Dancers in sparkly suits and headdresses whilst dubstep played through speakers. Four elephants walked around the stage whilst their riders waved to the crowds. A magician and his assistant joined them, performing a few tricks along the way. Two motorcyclists rode out and skidded to a stop, grinning and waving. A strong man came out carrying a woman and a knife thrower. Then the lights pointed up to the trapeze where an acrobat was standing. They grabbed the trapeze and began swinging, then let go. Free falling, they performed a few tricks that reminded the team of someone. They couldn't quite remember who but it felt like the name was on the tip of their tongue. They were caught by a trampoline and did a few flips whilst bouncing before he was helped down by two dancers. They tussled the acrobat's hair with smiles and said something that was inaudible thanks to the shouting and cheers of the audience. Haley explained that the acrobat was a Gotham City exclusive for only tonight. The team thought that a bit odd since the last time they brought in a new act, things went down badly for the circus. "That's a bit weird, don't you think?" M'gann asked through the mind link. It was the only way they could hear each other since the crowds were roaring over the spectacle.

"It is a circus," Connor responded.

Nothing was really out of the ordinary until the time came for the solo acrobat to perform. "Those of weak hearts may want to leave for this one as our next performer will be performing without a safety net! Ladies and gentlemen, please give a warm welcome to The Fearless Flyer!" Haley proclaimed. He pointed up to the acrobat with the lights following him. The team could get a better look of the acrobat now. Their suit was mostly red with green and yellow accents that sparkled under the lights. Their eyes were covered with a domino mask that was caked in red crystals. They waved to the crowd with a confident smile that looked so familiar and showed that he was the only one up there with no backup plan for if he fell. If something went wrong, he was royally screwed. "Now Fearless Flyer, are you ready?" They gave a thumbs up. "Ladies and gentlemen, are you ready?" Cheers filled the tent at an almost deafening level. "I said, are you ready?" More cheers. "Then let's go!"

The Fearless Flyer gripped the bar of the trapeze above their head and leapt off the edge. After gaining some momentum, they did a flip to the next trapeze and gained oo's and ahh's from the audience. They climbed up onto it and sat on the bar. The crowd watched them carefully as they leapt back to the other side. For a moment, they thought the acrobat wasn't going to make it but they were clearly skilled enough to catch themselves. Once sat on the other bar, they pretended to lose their balance and fell back. A series of gasps escaped the crowd's lips. They gave their audience a smile and did a flip to the previous bar. That smile mixed with the mask. Something was so familiar about it. The acrobatics were only aiding in the feeling of Deja vu. It was all just so familiar. "Oh, what's this?" Haley interjected. "Is he going to attempt more than just one flip? How many are you going to do?" The acrobat put up four fingers. "A quadruple flip? This guy is insane!" The team glanced at one another. An insane kid with black hair, a domino mask who liked to fool around and wore a smirk nearly all the time? "Oh my God, that's Robin up there!" M'gann exclaimed, luckily through the mind link. Well lucky for her since she was saved the embarrassment but unlucky for those who just heard a martian squeal in their heads. "Sorry," she added shyly upon noticing them cringing.

"But he was supposed to be out with Batman," Kaldur reasoned.

"That little shit," Artemis muttered. The acrobat, who they now realised was their youngest teammate, now built momentum for his death-defying stunt. M'gann prepared herself to telepathically catch him if something happened. If this was nail-biting to watch before, it was even more so now. "There he goes!"

One flip.

Two

Three

Four! Four flips in a row! He landed on the other side effortlessly, waving out at the crowd whilst they applauded and cheered for him. The team stood up and whooped for him, drawing his attention. Robin grinned at them, kissing his hand and blowing it down to them. "This kid is something else," Artemis stated. "He's just full of surprises."

"Trust me, I've known him for years, and he still surprises me," Wally replied.

Before you say anything about me procrastinating from doing my work, not that most of you would say anything, I did an introduction and two paragraphs so i deserve a fanfic break!
