Hopelessly devoted to you

This is kind of short but I tried to do something new so bear with me

Dick sighed as he was cleaning old photos of himself and Wally. It was from one of their outings when they were teenagers. He remembered it fondly. It was one of the coldest winters in Gotham yet they still went out to the park, wrapped it up the hundreds of layers their respective mentors gave them and went sledding for the entire day. Their noses were redder than a stop sign and they couldn't feel their fingers for ages. Things felt so easy back then. Then he had to screw it all up and in a moment, he watched a friendship shatter and see a relationship form whilst he tried to piece his life back together. In the background, a song began to play. Really he should change it since it would only make him upset but he couldn't make himself do it. So he decided to sing along. If he was going to cry he may as well belt his heart out whilst doing it.

"Guess mine is not the first heartbroken," he began, swaying to the music as he continued dusting off the line of photos. He couldn't bring himself to throw them out even after what happened. They meant too much. "My eyes are not the first to cry." Dick finished off dusting the snow day photo and placed it down, picking up another photo of him and Wally. It was the day before he admitted how he felt. God, he regretted it. "I'm not the first to know there's just no getting over you." The photo was taken by his friend's current partner, Artemis. He held no ill will towards her when they got together. How could he? Both his friends were happy together. She gave Wally something he couldn't give. What that was, he could take a stab at but he couldn't be sure of. He wished he knew exactly what it was. "You know I'm just a fool who's willing to sit around and wait for you." The photo was yet another relic of the times he couldn't repeat. It was a few years back when they were visiting New York together. He couldn't remember why their other friends didn't tag along but they still had a great time. "But baby can't you see there's nothing else for me to do. I'm hopelessly devoted to you."

Here came the tears. He slammed down the photo, turning it face down so he didn't have to look at the smiling faces taunting him. "But now there's no way to hide! Since you pushed my love aside!" He could remember it all so clearly and he hated it. After all the concussions he's had in that time, none of them seemed to taint that memory no matter how desperately he wished they would. They'd been getting back from New York and Dick pulled Wally aside. "I'm outta my head hopelessly devoted to you." His heart pounded so hard when he began to explain how he felt. He'd always been a lovesick teenager around Wally. His smirk would always melt Dick's heart and the small positive comments he made sent Dick into a blushing mess. "Hopelessly devoted to you." The words tumbled out of his mouth. There was no stopping them even when he sensed Wally wasn't liking what he was putting down. "Hopelessly devoted to you." Wally laughed. Dick admitted his feelings and Wally laughed. He remembered him asking if he was joking. Had he been thinking straight, Dick would've played along then silently cried himself to sleep over the matter in the privacy of his apartment. But Dick was so worked up about being rejected and the long flight back home had him a tired mess that he just started crying right there in front of his crush. "My head is saying fool forget him. My heart is saying don't let go." He blubbered and stuttered over a response and Wally looked so uncomfortable. He'd made him like that. He'd made his crush uncomfortable. He tried to get some sort of sentence out of his mouth but it ended up being a stream of sorrys and self-depreciation. "Hold on to the end, that's what I intend to do. I'm hopelessly devoted to you."

Artemis came over at the time, took one look at the mess and whisked Wally away. She said Dick was clearly tired from the flight and wasn't thinking straight. The next thing Dick knew, they were dating and his confession may as well not had happened. "But now there's no way to hide since you pushed my love aside!" He couldn't help but feel awful about it. Everything he'd held dear, gone. He knocked down another photo of him and Wally in frustration. He couldn't stand the memories anymore. He wanted them all to go away. "I'm outta my head hopelessly devoted to you!" He kept going, knocking each one down. "Hopelessly devoted to you." He paused at the last one and picked it up. The wedding. Wally and Artemis looked amazing on that day. Both of them looked so in love. He was the best man. His confession wasn't taken seriously. It had been brushed away. He remembered watching them getting married and the only thought was that they'd always be happy because God knows he wouldn't be since he was, "Hopelessly devoted to you."
