Dong Hua sat on her bed and helped her fold the rest of the robes she wanted to bring back with her. He took great care in folding her small white undergarments after he held them up to marvel at the fine engineering of strategically sewn fabric and ribbons. He decided he'd make her many sets with the softest mulberry silk.

Intent on not letting Zhong Lin or any other person handle this task, he decided he would try his hand at lovingly tailoring them himself. Even though he had committed her measurements to memory, he already planned to purposely feign ignorance and botch the first batch so he could insist on doing many fittings with her.

She walked around her room picking out other things to bring back, among them were her favorite plush pink blanket, and the grass butterflies Li Jing had gifted her and her mate for their engagement.

She stood before him with her hands on her hips after carefully placing the butterflies on the neatly folded piles of robes.

"Dijun, is this the first time you've folded clothes?" Her tone was challenging but her smile showed her appreciation.

"It most certainly is not."

"Is this the first time you've folded someone else's clothes?"

"Perhaps."

She gestured toward her neat pile of things. "Dijun, do you think this is too much for Zhong Lin to take back home for me? I won't be able to fit everything into my aura so I have to ask him to perhaps take some back for me."

"Zhong Lin and Si Ming have already gone back."

"How come?" Her mouth formed a small pout. "I was going to make a grand breakfast. Now they won't get to eat it."

"Little fox, if you insist on feeding the dingdongs, there will be plenty of time for that at Tai Chen Palace. Besides, they have things they need to take care of for me."

"Oh, okay." She looked forlornly at her pile of possessions. "I suppose I can just bring half and ask Migu to send the rest of the stuff to me later."

With a wave of his hand, Dong Hua promptly stored her things into his aura.

"Why didn't you ask your husband? I've stored dead demon bodies and and various Chiyan beast body parts. I've also transported troops of snow monkeys to far distances. Storing your things won't be a problem. If you are to marry me, Xiao Bai, you should rely on your mate a little more. He's quite competent, I assure you." He punctuated his directive with a soft finger tap to her forehead.

She sat on his leg and affectionately pinched his cheek. "Thank you." She placed a soft kiss on the side of his face.

He wrapped his strong arms around her soft warm body and then kissed her temple. She looked up at him curiously as he kept his lips attached to her as if he had completely frozen. He cradled the side of her head and kept her in place as he prolonged the kiss. It was as if he could not bear to separate his lips from her.

It felt like half the night was already over when he released his mouth from the side of her forehead before placing another soft kiss on her birthmark.

"Are you not sleepy yet?" he asked in his deep velvet voice that had always held the power of a lullaby to her.

She didn't want to go back to sleep and instead asked him if they could finish the mortal novel that they hadn't read in awhile. There were just a few chapters left before the story concluded.
