A/N: Welcome! This story was started in mid-March 2020 at the height of the Corona Virus pandemic. That being said, I did not approach this as a creative writing project, instead, writing this story was a kind of therapy for me. Because this story comes from my heart, it is flawed but also sincere. I'd appreciate for readers to consider kindness when writing their comments. Also, if you're looking for a plot-driven story that ends in a wedding or Gun Gun in about twenty or thirty chapters, please do not read my story. You'll be frustrated. This is a character-driven story that focuses on psychological, spiritual, and interpersonal development and healing. If you're interested in understanding more about my thoughts on this story, please read my Author's Note after chapter 45. Thank you. May you and your loved ones find safety and peace during these very strange times we're in.

*4/2022 When I first wrote this story, I was a brand-new fan-fiction writer (who honestly didn't know what she was doing). I wrote their names as Dong Hua and Feng Jiu. Now, I'd like to change them to Donghua and Fengjiu (like I did on the cover) but I don't want to go through the heavy mass edit. I think I'll just leave them the way it is in this book. In the next volume, halfway through I did end up changing it. I know its a minor inconsistency but I like consistency. I try to remind myself that writing is an evolving process where perfection is an illusion. There is no growth without having past mistakes.

Bai Feng Jiu was simply wanting to take a nice long stroll to help her digest the big meal she had devoured earlier. She had been watching the plays at the theater in the Mortal Realm. While on her way home to Qing Qiu, she suddenly sensed demon essence up ahead over the grassy knoll.

As she ran up, she saw a demon lunging forward attempting to strike the tall man with its jagged blade. In the blink of an eye she beamed herself into a pink glimmering mist. She emerged out of nowhere a few steps in front of the tall stranger and stood in a defensive stance with her sword drawn out.

The sword with its full weight materialized from the pink shimmer radiating from her little hand and she plunged it deep into the demon's chest

The sword with its full weight materialized from the pink shimmer radiating from her little hand and she plunged it deep into the demon's chest. It let out an agonizing growl that could be heard for miles. He quickly disintegrated, dissolving into black ash, leaving behind the foul smell of rotting flesh.

Her fox senses were so sharp that the smell was exponentially unbearable for her. She turned around to face the tall man she had saved, crinkling up her nose at the stench.

While he was expressionless, he noted internally his amusement at the face she made. She looked up at him. He hovered a good foot over her. Her dark lashes fluttered as she blinked, still holding his steady gaze.

Why is he just standing and staring?

She thought the least he could do was thank her for saving him. She looked him up and down. He was tall, not exactly unattractive, wearing a light purple robe, and had long frosty white hair.
