Sebastian and Rachel One Shots (Smytheberry)

139. What does your heart tell you?

Takes place in the S3 scene where Rachel wants to stay behind for another year, but instead of Finn choosing her future and dumping her at the train station, they broke up and Rachel seeks comfort at Dalton and Kurt got into NYADA too not just Rachel.

Rachel was ecstatic that she got into NYADA as it meant she was one step closer to broadway but at the same time she was also nervous and wondered if she was really ready for college and if it was too soon to chase her dream.

For a long time she wondered if it was her dream or her dad's dream for broadway. She sat there in the choir room listening to Brittany, the juniors and sophomores sing to her and the seniors, and she was thinking of different scenarios in her head, she knew Kurt had gotten into NYADA too and was quick to accept the offer but Rachel on the other hand was unsure of what to do because she was excited but she also felt she wasn't ready.

After glee Rachel soughted out Finn, for advice on what to do, as since they are engaged to marry Rachel knew that she had to consult him as she understood that its not just her future but their future.

Rachel stopped Finn from walking out of the choir room and spoke to him

"I got into NYADA but I don't know if I should accept the offer or not like Kurt has, and if I don't accept it and put it on hold I will be here for another year." Finn couldn't believe it and said

"You're going to NYADA, there's no I don't know or unsure about it Rachel." Rachel couldn't believe what he said, and she said

"I can't believe you would say that. You didn't even listen to what I had to say. When you didn't know what to do after graduation. I helped you a lot with options and you turned them down." Finn was silent and Rachel then asked

"Did you. Did you propose to me because you didn't know what to do?" Finn stammered and said

"I. I." Rachek was getting upset and said

"Answer the question Finn please?" Finn sighed and said

"Then yes. I did it because I didn't know what to do. Are you happy about that?" Rachel took off the ring, dropped it to the floor and said

"We're over Finn." Rachel walked out of the choir room and out of Mckinley, and knew there was one place where Finn wouldn't go to look for her.

When she reached Dalton, she was grateful that her childhood best friend Trent and her cousin Nick and his boyfriend Jeff to let her in for comfort, but when she walked inside the school she couldn't see either Trent, Nick or Jeff. She turned to walk when someone grabbed her arm to stop her and said

"Not so fast." Rachel knew who it was. She knew it was Sebastian. She stopped walking, she didn't bother to fight him like she usually does, she wasn't irriataed or annoyed or even angry that he stopped her and she sadly said

"Hi Sebastian."

Sebastian sensed something was wrong with his young Barbra Streisand, as usually she fights him, gets angry and annoyed at him, and the way she greeted him. He knew something was wrong. This wasn't his Streisand. Something was wrong and he was determined to find out, as he knew she should be happy because of NYADA and even being engaged to Finn.

As he thought that, that's when he noticed Rachel had no ring on her finger. Sebastian softly spoke

"You okay Rachel?" Rachel was quiet, she didnt know what to say, but what she did know was that she didn't want to be alone. Rachel shook her head and said

"No, but I don't want to be alone right now." Sebastian was concerned for the girl, and then lead her to the warbler room so he could comfort her, he lead her to the couch, turned to lock the door so noone could disturb them. He sat next and held her and she silently cried.

Rachel took a deep breath, as she sat up and said

"Do you want to know what's wrong?" Sebastian squeezed Rachel's hand and said

"Only if you want to tell me." Rachel nodded her head, and she said

"As you would know, I got into NYADA like Kurt did, which don't get me wrong I'm happy that I did, but lately I keep thinking and wondering if I'm really ready for NYADA, and if I'm really ready to start being closer to my dream, and then there is my dad's separation too, and because of me thinking all of that, I spoke to Finn about it, since I was going to spend the rest of my life with him, and instead of giving me advice he told I should take it, and then I found out he only proposed to me because he didn't know what to do with his life and not out of love." As Rachel spoke, Sebastian began to get angry at Finn, but he remained calm for Rachel and said

"If you want advice on what to do, maybe I can give you some. I know I'm not your boyfriend, or your cousin Nick, and I'm only your friend, so maybe I could help." Rachel looked at him curiously and said

"I'll take that up. What advice do you have?" Sebastian gave her a small smile and said

"Do what your heart is telling you do and not what you think you should be doing for other people." Rachel thought about it and said

"You're right Sebastian." Sebastian looked at her and said

"So what is your heart telling you?" Rachel thought about it, and then kissed him, which surprised Sebastian but he kissed her back. The kiss was full of passion and when they pulled apart the kiss, Rachel looked at him full of love and said

"My heart tells me you, and that I'm not ready for college yet." Sebastian kissed her again and then said

"I support you and your decision, but since you aren't going to New York  what would you do?" Rachel hadn't thought of what she would do next, until she thought of Tina and she said

"I'll be a glee director for the troubletones girls, and make Tina and Sugar the troubletones Co captains. I may not be ready for college but I can at least give back to the school that helped me prepare for college." Sebastian smiled proudly at her and said

"Then I support you even more. And support you as a boyfriend?" Rachel smiled widely and said

"I like the sound of that."

From there Rachel was finally happy, because she has the right support system, and not someone who chooses her future for her. And Sebastian's and Rachel's relationship went from strength to strength, because of how much they support each other.
