Sebastian and Rachel One Shots (Smytheberry)

90. New Years Eve- Part 1

Rachel was in Ohio from New York visiting her family for New Year's Eve. She recently got a call from her sister Marley as she was packing her bags to leave New York about how their dad Leroy's new job offer working at a new law firm, and the New Year's Eve party their dads are hosting where the theme was classy, Rachel was also very excited about meeting Marley's new boyfriend who will also be attending the New Year's Eve party.

Rachel was currently sitting in a cab which was now just a few houses away from her dads. When the cab had stopped outside the house, Rachel got out the car with her suitcase, and walked up to the door, when she entered the kitchen of her dads house, she was greeted from her little sister. As Rachel hugged Marley tight, she saw Skylar Smythe the younger brother of Sebastian standing in the doorway of the kitchen. As they pulled apart Marley smiled widely at Rachel, as she lead her over to Skylar and said

"Rachie, this is my boyfriend Skylar. Skylar this is my older sister Rachel." And before they could say anything to each other, they heard

"Broadway." Rachel smiled at the former bad boy and her ex boyfriend standing behind Skylar and Marley and she said

"Sebastian, it's good to see you, I hope you're well." It was then Skylar realised who Rachel was, and how he knew Rachel, well sort of and he said

"Your the Rachel, that my brother always talks non-stop about." Rachel saw the faint blush on Sebastian's face, and she wondered if Sebastian has missed her as much as she misses him, and wondered if he still loves her too. It was then Marley motioned to Skylar to leave them be. When they left Sebastian and Rachel were alone in the kitchen to talk as even their parents were outside. Rachel looked down and then at Sebastian and said

"I should probably put my suitcase in my room, and then change. I don't really want to stand out." Rachel picked up her suitcase and then walked to her room. Sebastian watched her leave when Sebastian's and Skylar's dad Charles had walked up to him and said

"You should talk to her." Sebastian sighed as he looked at his dad and said

"I don't know if talking to each other would work, dad, her and I broke up because she was going to New York, and I was staying here so I could be mentored by you so one day I'll take over the firm." Charles looked at him and said

"Sebastian, you could have always followed her to New York, they have really good colleges over there, I met your mum at NYU." He was met with silence and he then said

"Do you want my advice son?" Sebastian nodded his head and said

"Please." Charles smiled at him and said

"All I ever want is for you to be happy. So follow your heart. Even if you follow the heart to New York." Charles had then walked away leaving Sebastian to process what his dad had told him. Sebastian then looked up in the direction of Rachel, and when he saw her walking towards he breathing had hitched. She was even more beautiful and the red dress had suited her perfectly. Sebastian was at a loss for words. Rachel walked up to him and said

"How have you been?" Sebastian didn't want to say that he has been a mess, that he still misses her and loves her, he couldn't say those words to her, Sebastian looked at her and said

"I've.. I've been alright, I have a new mentor at my dad's law firm. And you look great by the way, really beautiful." Rachel smiled at him and said

"Thanks and you said that you had a new mentor." Sebastian nodded his head yes and said

"Yeah I did. It's coincidentally your dad." Rachel was shocked and then said

"My dad now works with your dad." Sebastian gave her a small smile and said

"It was a surprise to me too."

Throughout the night Marley and Rachel ended up at the refreshment table together, and Marley said

"I'm sensing a there's a little history between you and Sebastian." Rachel prayed that Marley wouldn't have noticed it, but Rachel couldn't lie to her sister, and she said

"There is. He and I dated in our senior year, but we broke up though." Marley looked at Rachel curiously for two reasons, why Rachel never told her about dating the older brother of her boyfriend, and why they broke up. Marley finished pouring her drink and said

"Okay two questions, first why didn't you tell me that you dated the older brother of my boyfriend, and second why did you break up?" Rachel sighed and said

"I didn't tell you, because no one knew. Everyone that was part of the new directions wouldn't have accepted it at all, especially Santana and Kurt. She lives with Kurt and I in New York, I thought I would get rid of her the minute I left McKinley but I can't, if she or Kurt ever found out I would not hear the end of it, they would grill me and say that I shouldn't have dated him. It's why he and I didn't tell anyone even you and Skylar that we dated." Marley felt sad for her sister, she knew that what Rachel said, was right, they would have made her feel guilty, and made her break up with him. Marley looked at Rachel and said

"Is that why you broke up?" Rachel shook her head no and said

"We broke up for a different reason." Marley looked at her curiously and said

"Which was?" Rachel sighed and said

"I was going to New York and he was staying here so he could be mentored by his dad." Marley started to ponder whether she should tell Rachel what Sebastian has told her when she had first met him. Marley glanced over at Sebastian and Skylar who were talking, and then at Rachel and she said

"Rachie can I tell you a secret?" Rachel nodded her head and said

"Of course." Marley took a deep breath and said

"When I first met Sebastian as Skylar's girlfriend, Sebastian had told me something, and I think he was talking about you. You should probably ask him what he said." Marley had then left Rachel on her own, which made Sebastian walk over to her and Rachel said

"Can we talk Sebastian, inside away from everyone, please." Sebastian looked at her and said

"Of course."
