Sebastian and Rachel One Shots (Smytheberry)

111. Music Ability Part 1

A/N: Based on Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist (I'm obsessed with this show, I recommend this show wholeheartedly)

Rachel woke up in her new york apartment loft that she shared with Kurt, Blaine, Sebastian and Santana, as she woke up she heard something she doesn't normally hear in the morning, and that's singing and she knew it had to be Santana, as Kurt and Blaine had classes and Sebastian was at work at the spotlight diner. She got up from her bed, peaked through her curtain, and saw that Santana was awake, making breakfast and singing Just Give Me A Reason by Pink and Nate Russ. Rachel silently listened to her singing, and wondered if Santana's and Brittany's relationship was okay. Rachel didn't want to intrude on Santana's personal life, so she silently closed her curtain, put her robe on, and then walked out after she heard the song finish.

Rachel sat down across from Santana, after pouring herself a coffee, she was silent, and Santana then spoke

"You're eerily quiet Hobbit, I don't like it." Rachel was confilcted at what to say, she didn't want to pry, but she also didn't want to sit in awkward silence. Rachel gripped her coffee mug, took a deep breath and said

"Are you and Brittany doing okay? I was just wondering since you've been feeling down lately, and I just wanted to check on how you were." Santana sat in silence, then up at Rachel and said

"Yeah we are fine, at least I think we are." Rachel became concerned for her and said

"You don't have to tell me, but what's going on?" Santana didn't know if she could trust Rachel or not, she was silent once more and said

"She's at MIT and I'm here, and she's been ignoring my messages and I don't know what to do." Rachel gave Santana a small smile and said

"Have you thought about writing her an actual letter, you have her MIT address, so why not send her a letter." Santana thought for a moment and said

"You know what, I might just do that. Thanks Rachel." Rachel smiled, as Santana stood up to go to her room. Rachel was sat thinking about how she heard Santana sing, and how Santana herself didn't even acknowlegde that she sang it. Rachel herself stood up, went to her room, changed and then left for work, where she met up with Nick and Jeff on the way. As she passed them she heard Nick singing Sucker by the Jonas Brothers to Jeff, but she noticed that Jeff doesn't even know.

Rachel began to freak out about what was happening, and then ran to work. As she ran to the diner, she ran to the back to pick up her apron, walked to a booth and sat down to trying to gather what happened, as she was sitting on her own, Trent had saw her, and sat across from her. Trent looked at her concerned and said

"Rach are you okay, you don't start for another hour, at least that's what Sebastian said" Rachel looked up across from her and said

"I'm okay Trent, at least I think I am." Trent walked away to get Rachel a bottle of water, leaving Rachel to somewhat relax. Trent walked back to Rachel, handed her the bottle and said

"What happened?" Rachel took a drink of her water as Trent sat back down across and she said

"I think I'm going crazy Trent." Trent began to get even more concerned for the diva and said

"What do you mean, what happened?" Rachel didn't know if she could trust Trent, but she knew that Trent wouldn't say anything or think she was crazy. Rachel took a deep breath and said

"This morning I woke up to Santana singing a song, but she didn't even acknowlegde that she was singing it or sang it, and just now as I was on my way here I heard Nick singing to Jeff, but Jeff didn't even hear." Trent looked at her and said

"Oh Rachie, I don't think you're going crazy, I think you have been given gift." Rachel was confused and said

"A gift?" Trent smiled and said

"Yes a gift. Where you hear people's most inner thoughts through song, and you can help them through whatever is troubling them, like Santana for instance, what song did she sing?" Rachel thought back to santana's song and she said

"Just give me a reason, and I helped her with whatever was going on with her and Brittany." Trent smiled at her and said

"Exactly, you can use your power for good and help others. And you never know Rachie, a certain tall, mysterious, handsome and not to sadly mention engaged and currently living with you as well, could reveal some hidden desires and hidden longing love for you." Rachel glanced at her long time crush Sebastian Smythe working at the tables in the distance and said

"I don't know Trent, he is engaged to someone else, I missed my chance, but it doesn't mean that it doesn't hurt when it does. He's happy I don't want to interfere with that." Rachel looked back at Trent and said

"I have to put my own feelings aside for his happiness." Trent knew how much Rachel loved Sebastian and has since highschool, and he said

"I know you do, and I know it doesn't help at all that Courtney asked you to be a bridesmaid in the wedding." Trent then looked at the time and said

"You should get to work. We can talk after if you want, you can come to my apartment too to make sure it isn't awkward." Rachel nodded her head as she stood up and said

"I would like that Trent." He smiled at her and said

"Let me know if your ability happens again." Rachel smiled back at Trent and said

"I will I promise." Rachel then walked to behind the counter to start working her shift.

As Rachel was finishing her shift, Sebastian had caught up with her and said

"Rach, do you need an escort back to the loft?" Rachel looked up at him and said

"Actually Trent invited me out, and is letting me spend the night at his place." Sebastian was slightly taken back and said

"Oh, well hope you have fun." Rachel gave him small smile, and went back to work to finish her shift and as she did, she heard Rewrite the Stars from her second favourite movie The Greatest Showman, and there was only one person to know that. She turned and saw Sebastian singing to her. Rachel was shocked and surprised, that Sebastian Smythe who is engaged to be married is singing a love song to her, she didn't know what to think of it, but she did know that she was going to tell Trent no matter what. Rachel blinked a couple of times, and Sebastian said

"You okay Rach?" Rachel nodded her head yes and said

"Perfectly okay. I should probably go. I'll see you tomorrow in class." Rachel took off her apron, placed it on the hook, picked up her bag and then left the Diner to go to Trent's leaving Sebastian to close up the diner.
