"Okay, this is my favorite place for moments when I want to be by myself and just enjoy the view.", Owen announced as they got out of Amelia's car. They had had to take it, since James would've noticed otherwise.

"Woah, this is actually really beautiful!", the brunette replied, amazed by what she saw. "Buddy, don't go near that cliff without us!", she warned her son, afraid something would happen to him. "You didn't have to pay all of dinner. But thank you!"

"My pleasure.", the redhead smiled at her. "And you can say my name, you know? I told you it's fine and it's really obvious how hard you're trying not to.", he softly teased his colleague, who chuckled cutely.

"I'm hungryyyy!", Logan interrupted them impatiently. When his mother asked if he had gotten something from the cafeteria before he had started his homework, he shook his head. "Owen gave me candy instead. But I didn't actually ask him to come downstairs with me because I was afraid.", he admitted ashamed.

"Why were you afraid? Of me?", the trauma surgeon wondered, surprised by the boy's revelation. They all sat down at one of the three picknick tables on top of the hill and started opening the boxes of food.

"No, just generally. So many people and stuff.", the ten-year-old shrugged. "Here are my fries, which I will enjoy as I look at the city from up here.", he shared his plan. He also had a burger and a bottle of juice.

"Enjoy, sweetie.", his mother said, kissing his head before she opened the box in front of her. "Oh, that's yours.", she noticed shyly, pushing the box with Owen's burger over to him while he did the same with hers.

For a moment, their fingers touched as she tried to take her box from him, causing them to look up into each other's eyes. Amelia hadn't felt such a spark in years but wasn't ready to admit that yet.

She was absolutely happy with James and wouldn't let anything come in between them, or anyone. Just as she thought of her boyfriend, her phone display lit up with a message from him.

James: Hey, love. How's it going? What's for dinner?

Amelia: Great, we are having takeout. Fries and burgers. When will you be home?

James: Sounds delicious! Probably around 3am, if even. Don't forget to dream of me, babe. <3

Amelia: Would I ever?

James: That's my girl! Before you go to bed, make sure to send me a hot picture of you, so I can use my breaks the way I like. ;)

Amelia: Dirty! :p

James: And you like it. Gotta go, love you!

Amelia: Love you, too! <3

"Earth to mom!", Logan repeated himself another time. "How's your food? We've been asking you this for almost a minute now. Is James texting you again?", he questioned, annoyed.

"Buddy, I am so tired of having this discussion every week!", Amelia argued. "I know you don't like him, but I love him, okay? He's such a wonderful man, doing everything he can, waiting for you to accept him. I wish you would give him a chance! And my food is good, thanks."

"Don't you think I am tired of it, too? You can't even have dinner without him wanting to know everything! He is controlling you; he is stalking you and he could be right around that corner behind the tree. It wouldn't be the first time of him spying at you like a fucking creep!", her son yelled, pushing the rest of his fries away as he got up.

"Don't you dare use such language!", the brunette scolded him. "And where are you even going, Logan?!", she questioned as she watched him walk towards the cliff. Owen also noticed it and quickly jumped up to follow him.

"I just want to sit here and be by myself!", the boy screamed angrily "And you can sit there and fantasize about your perfect James in bed with you, which by the way is something a ten-year-old probably shouldn't know about but thanks to him always announcing to you that he wants to fuck you during every free minute of the day, I do."

"I...I'm sorry, that's so not him. I have never seen him this mad before.", the neurosurgeon apologized to her boss, who told her he would handle it and talk to her son.

"I want to sleep at your house tonight.", the young brunette let the trauma surgeon know, sitting there with crossed arms staring ahead at the city below. "I am done with this shit.", he informed him.

"Hey Logan...buddy, don't do that. Don't use such language and be rude to your mom. Earlier today you told me you would never wanna do anything that gets her into trouble and you staying with me definitely would. I also don't own a house, I live in the trailer in your uncle's backyard.", Owen answered softly, wrapping his arm around the pissed kid. "I don't think she realizes how obsessive he is. And until she does, it's not wise to throw accusations at her like this."

"You live in a trailer? Are you kidding me? You are the Chief of a hospital and a great surgeon, too. Why do you live in a trailer?", Logan wanted to know, having heard the man. He accepted what he was just told but didn't want to talk about it anymore.

"Who lives in a trailer?", Amelia asked while she joined them and sat down on the other side of her child. The boy glanced up at her and snuggled into his mother. "I'm sorry for yelling at you, baby.", she sighed, kissing his head before she looked at Owen and smiled a little, causing him to do the same.
