"Hey, my sweet Eleanor!", Amelia greeted the husky in her high-pitched voice for dogs. "Did you have a visitor today, huh? Hi, thank you for picking her up earlier.", she addressed Evelyn, who had picked up Layla from school after they had gotten a call that she wasn't feeling well, since Carolyn wasn't on the list of people who were allowed to. "One baby for you.", she said, handing Lucas to Owen's mother. "And one for you.", she added, putting Luna into her own mom's arms. "Come out of the car, Leo."

"Where's daddy?", the four-year-old wanted to know. Usually, her parents came together to pick up all of them. "And Logan?", she also wondered. "Hi, Ellie! Hello, Grandma and Grandma.", she waved at them.

"Yeah, where are they?", Evelyn asked once they all walked inside. "Leo, can you come to grandma for a second?", she asked the little girl, who shyly glanced at her mama, not sure if she was ready.

"Okay.", the toddler agreed and climbed onto the couch next to her grandma and brother. "What's up?", she cutely wanted to know, watching her mom wait before she would actually go upstairs to check on her other daughter.

"It was very wrong of me to tell you who you can and can't be. I was overwhelmed with the situation, and it caused me to be insecure which led to my thinking that I could gain control over something that nobody needs to control. I'm sorry and I hope you can forgive me. I love you, no matter who you are, Leo.", the grey-haired-woman told the child.

"I love you too, Grandma.", the mini blonde replied, which implied that she had forgiven her. "I'm a girl today.", she informed the two people who hadn't been there when she had announced it this morning. "Can I give Ella a snack, Mama?"

"Daddy is at Logan's school to take care of something, and they'll be here soon. Yes, you can, Honey. Your grandmas will make sure that you don't give her a full meal before I have to have my dog go on a diet.", the neurosurgeon answered and caused her daughter to giggle. "I'm gonna go look for your sister. Hi, Munchkin.", she quietly greeted Layla, who was just waking up from a nap. "How are you feeling?"

"Not so good.", the young brunette mumbled sadly, barely opening her eyes to glance at her mama. "I'm sick.", she let her know as if she wouldn't know that already. "I just wanna sleep.", she weakly said.

"I know, Sweetheart. You can go back to sleep in a few minutes. Let me just check your temperature. Meanwhile, you can drink some of this tea I brought you. Grandma Carolyn made it and when I was just a kid, it helped me in no time.", Amelia explained softly, stroking her daughter's sticky hair off her sweaty forehead to kiss it.

"But I hate tea.", the seven-year-old pouted, which was an understatement. She despised it, actually. "I wanted to go to school.", she complained quietly, a tear escaping her eye because she just wanted to feel good again.

"Oh Baby, don't cry.", her mother begged, heartbroken to see her usually very joyful child so down. "I know you hate tea, but it will help you get better. And daddy will cook some chicken-noodle-soup for dinner, I already asked him to do so."

"Can I sleep in your bed tonight?", Layla asked, hoping for her mother to say yes, which she did. "Okay.", she smiled a tiny bit and sipped a little on her tea before she laid back down and fell asleep again.

"Hey, Honey.", the brunette greeted her oldest son once she joined everyone else at the dining table, where they were having a snack. "Hi, Babe.", she addressed her husband and pecked his lips. "Is this tasty?", she asked Lucas, who stared at her for a minute straight, before he nodded. "That's great.", she beamed and kissed his head.

"How's Layls?", Owen worried. He hadn't really been able to concentrate on anything but his daughter's wellbeing ever since they had gotten the call in the morning. "Did she throw up?", he wanted to know.

"She's having a fever; her nose is runny too. Headache and bellyache as well, but she hasn't thrown up...yet.", his wife shared. "She wants to sleep in our bed tonight, so I'd suggest that one of us sleeps in the guestroom, in case the other one catches whatever she has."

"Can I sleep in the guestroom with the other person?", Leo wondered excitedly, sensing her chance of getting a special night as well. "I'm not sick but you are not used to sleeping alone.", she smartly added.

"I was gonna say no because as you just mentioned, you are not ill. But honestly, you are right, neither of us is going to want to be the one who has to sleep alone. So, for one night, you get to have a sleepover with the parent that your sister doesn't choose.", her father answered.

"YAY!", the four-year-old's face lit up while she clapped her hands. "Can I please have another cookie, Grandma?", she glanced at Evelyn who nodded and handed her one. "Why is Layla sick?"

"She probably caught something on the plane or at the airport.", Amelia responded. "Hopefully no one else got sick.", she pointed out. "Where is Ellie?", she questioned the group in confusion. At that time of the day, the husky normally waited to be let out into the garden through the backdoor.

"She ran upstairs shortly after you sat down with us, Love.", her mom informed her. "Probably wants to protect Layla.", she figured and shrugged, offering her daughter a smile. "Yesterday, Logan told me about how protective she is."
