"So little Miss Smartypants, what do you think your dad and I did instead of taking a shower together this morning?", Amelia decided to address the issue at hand, not happy about the fact that her seven-year-old kid seemed to know what sex was but deciding to talk to her about it to clear her conscience.
"You've probably had sex.", Layla nonchalantly answered as she was walking with her mama, holding her hand, being a cute little girl now and not the hurricane from earlier anymore. "Why?"
"Well, I am trying to find out if you know what the meaning of the word is that you're using and talking about.", the brunette explained, making sure they were quiet enough, so other visitors of the museum wouldn't listen in. "What is it?"
"It's disgusting.", the seven-year-old pointed out, glancing up at her mother, realizing that wasn't enough. She sighed, dramatically sharing her disinterest in the topic since it had been fun to tease her mom this morning but now, she didn't care anymore. "It's when two adults love each other and cuddle while being naked. I don't know anything else about it. Some older kids told us.", she added, feeling like her mom would want to know where she had gotten that information from.
"Okay. That's really everything you know about it? Don't lie to me, you know I can see it in your eyes whenever you do.", the neurosurgeon warned her child softly and watched her nod as she glanced at her.
"That is all, I'm being honest.", Layla nodded, by now thinking she was in trouble because it sounded like she wasn't allowed to know what sex was. "Why, is it not true?", she curiously wondered.
"It is. But it's an adult thing and I would be much happier if my first grader didn't know what sex is.", Amelia replied firmly this time to make sure her daughter understood how serious she was. "I want you to think of the names of the kids who told you and your friends about this, and you'll have to tell me before bedtime tonight."
"Yes, Mama.", the little brunette said, and nodded again, obeying her parent, since she was really scared she'd get in trouble otherwise. "Are you mad at me? The older kids said that sex is something adults do for fun and because it feels good. Didn't you have a great time with daddy?", she wondered, sounding like a curious small kid.
"That is not why we're having this conversation, Honey.", her mother explained. "I am not exactly mad at you, I just don't want you to hang out with those children anymore, do you understand?", she questioned, watching Layla hold up her pinky for her to interlock her own with, so she could promise she wouldn't. "Good. And to answer your other question, I am always having a great time with daddy. But that's stuff that simply doesn't concern you, alright?"
"Okay, Mommy.", the seven-year-old repeated, sounding sincere as she did. "I don't wanna be a bad kid, but sometimes I don't know where my boundaries are, I guess.", she pouted sadly. "I'm the bad person of the family.", she figured and stopped while she started crying on the spot.
"Sweetie, nobody in this family is a bad person.", Amelia promised after crouching down to her daughter's height to embrace her sobbing child. "You've made a mistake and I can see that you are sorry about it. It's not your fault that those older kids talked to you guys about such a topic, but your mistake was that you were being cheeky this morning. I mean, I am also kinda glad that you were, otherwise we wouldn't have had that conversation and-"
"See? I am not a good girl.", Layla continued crying, still standing in her mama's arms, and hugging her tightly, not wanting to see the disappointment in her eyes. "But I wanna be a good girl so badly."
"Baby, none of that.", the neurosurgeon begged. "I agree with you that you should be more careful sometimes when choosing your words and I want you to be respectful towards others, especially adults, since you can be very sassy, which isn't always funny. But you are definitely not a bad kid. Instead, you are a very kind and emphatic girl, who is also super smart and always wants to help whenever she can and whoever she can. You're one of the good ones. There are no bad people in this family."
"And also, no bad dogs.", the little brunette mumbled into her mother's shoulder since she had just talked about humans, but their husky wasn't misbehaving either. "Can we go to the Nature Lab now?", she changed the topic, drying her tears by wiping her face against her mom's sweater.
"Yes, let's do that. Your sister is already excited as well.", her mom agreed and gave her child a kiss to make her understand that they were truly good. Luna just stared at them with big eyes, not exactly sure what was going on here but sensing a stressful situation.
