Owen was still sitting on the chair, silently watching his wife finish off her work before she cleaned everything up and headed for their bedroom. When she was passing him, he reached for her hand, grabbed it, and held her back.
"Please don't go.", the trauma surgeon whispered. He was feeling a lot of stuff and not really able to organize all the thoughts that were crossing his mind, so he couldn't talk about them quite yet. His pleading baby blue eyes just stared up at her. "Stay."
"Owen...", Amelia sighed. She didn't know what to do and what to say to him since he wasn't opening up to her. But she still let him pull her towards him. Her husband hid his face in her stomach and wrapped his arms around her body to hold her close to him as he started to sniffle. "Honey...", she said, not receiving an answer.
"I can't tell you what's wrong because I don't even know myself.", the redhead sobbed into her body, feeling his wife wrap her own arms around his neck as she rested her cheek on top of his head to cuddle and comfort him. "But I don't want you to be mad at me because that is definitely not going to make it any better."
"I am not.", the neurosurgeon reassured him softly. "I am not mad at you.", she repeated and kissed his head. "Just let it out and tell me once you're ready. But please let our children have some apple tomorrow."
"Fine.", Owen agreed. He couldn't quite figure out why he felt this way, but he was pretty sure that it wasn't exactly because of the existence of apples and that his words earlier had in fact been ridiculous. "Can we go to bed?", he asked after about ten minutes of cuddling with his wife.
"Of course, come on.", the brunette sympathized with him now and gently took his hand to take him upstairs with her. "Come Eleanor!", she told the husky before she watched her speed up the stairs.
Once they had gotten ready for bed, her husband embraced their son while she did the same with their daughter after kissing him good night. He felt a little better now that he knew that at least, Amelia wasn't mad at him.

"What is that, Honey?", the trauma surgeon asked his smallest son who was curiously staring at the beach he was standing on, intrigued by all the sand. "Is that fascinating?", he wanted to know, watching Lucas nod.
"Yeah!", the tiny redhead said and let himself fall onto the ground to explore the weird substance he hadn't really encountered before. "It yum?", he questioned, looking at his father with his big eyes, ready to lick his hand.
"Nope!", Owen replied and lifted the little boy into his arms to follow his wife, who was holding Eleanor's leash in one hand and Luna's hand in the other. Layla and Leo were walking next to them. "This is not eatable and tastes bad."
"Oh.", the one-year-old responded, rather surprised that the soft yellow mass he had been walking on wasn't something he could eat. "Pway wit it (Play with it)?", he then questioned, thinking that the substance had to be good for something.
"Wow, you know how to use your words!", his mother praised him since her husband had reached them and their spot where they had decided to settle down. "I am so proud of you, Baby!", she beamed at her son, who's face lit up. "And yes, we are here for you to play in the sand."
"He wanted to eat it too, but I told him he shouldn't.", the redhead shared as he helped his wife with the two blankets she was setting up. "We brought yummy stuff for a picknick later.", he told the kids.
"Maybe he should try it and realize it's not food.", Amelia figured and if it was for another situation, she knew her husband had laughed, but now he just threw her an unamused glance, so she sighed and brought her attention back to the children.
"Can we build a sandcastle?", Layla begged her parents, very excited for the beach day since she had put on her colorful rainboots. "Please!", she added as she looked back and forth between her mom and dad.
"Yes, Sweetie. Let's do it!", her father said and gave every child a sand toy to help form a castle. Since the twins wouldn't really get it yet, his wife unleashed Eleanor to let her run around a bit by herself since she was trained enough to do so and then she decided to make her own castle with the babies, so they wouldn't destroy their siblings'.
"We should make a very huge one that reaches the sky!", Leo suggested and clapped her hands as she got started on her side of the castle. "It can be our dream-castle.", she added. "Mama, can I have a drink?"
"We got here five minutes ago.", the brunette reminded her toddler, who realized she was right and noticed that she wasn't even thirsty but just excited for the drink packs her mom had brought.
"Ella, you can go in, but not too far!", Owen told the dog, who had been standing in front of the ocean, patiently waiting to be allowed to go in for a swim. She loved swimming so much, she wanted to it every single day. "That's enough."
"I can see her from here, no worries.", his wife calmed him down since he was sitting with his back facing the ocean. "Luna, here's the spot...we wanna build a castle.", she laughed when she watched her daughter start building elsewhere.
"No, I bwild (build) bed.", the one-year-old proudly informed her mother and if Amelia was honest, she had to admit that her child's work actually did look like a bed. "I no bwild casle (castle).", she informed.
"Oh okay, my mistake.", the neurosurgeon chuckled and continued building with the twins before she glanced at the others' sandcastle. "Yours already looks so majestic.", she praised them.
