"Mama!", Leo started crying at the breakfast table once they were done eating, causing Teddy to get up and motion for Logan to put on his shoes, so they could go grocery shopping for the family.
"Let's go buddy, get ready.", she told the boy. "Owen, take Layla. Amelia, time to take over.", the blonde informed her friend, whose eyes widened. The baby was reaching for the cardio surgeon as he continued screaming.
"What? You can't leave now, he wants you!", the brunette argued softly, panicking a little as she stared at her colleague. Her boyfriend had already grabbed their daughter and left the room. "Please don't go."
"He's screaming for his mama. Question is, who is going to respond to it?", Teddy challenged. She had been helping the neurosurgeon with her youngest son for days now and it was time for the next step. "I'll buy your favorite snacks for you. Bye!"
"Leo-bear, it's okay...it's fine.", Amelia tried to calm down the small child, lifting him out of his chair. "You don't have to be sad; I am right here.", she told him as she started to walk through the room to rock him in her arms.
"MAMA!", the baby's screams got louder, causing his mother to helplessly tear up as well while she continued to soothe him. "MAMA!", Leo still cried after half an hour, not reacting to anything the brunette was doing or saying.
"What do you need? I am here, I am rocking you. I am loving you! Mama's right here, baby.", she sniffled, feeling extremely incompetent. "Maybe it's time to stop fooling ourselves. I am not your mom and I get that now.", she sighed.
"Mama...", the boy got quieter. He had cried himself to exhaustion and chose to rest his head on top of her shoulder. Just as drained, Amelia laid down on the couch with him on top of her, stroking his back, so he would feel safe as he fell asleep in her arms.
"I've got you. I love you so much, angel!", the neurosurgeon mumbled, closing her eyes as well with her arms wrapped around her son, protecting him on top of her chest.
"Sorry!", Teddy apologized half an hour later when she noticed her friend waking up to her putting the food into the fridge. "But I had to put away the groceries since we don't want them to go bad. How did it go with Leo?"
"It was horrible to say the least.", the brunette answered sadly. "Can you come and take him? I have to pee, and he'll wake up without body contact.", she added, not in the mood to talk about it. The cardio surgeon nodded and took the baby from her colleague.
"Where's Amelia?", Owen wondered as he walked into the room a minute later. "Layla kicked me out and said she needed some time to be by herself. Apparently, it's her right to spend quality time alone.", he shared with a chuckle, making his best friend grin.
"She had to use the toilet and asked me to take over. How long has he been crying earlier? She looked crushed.", the blonde informed the trauma surgeon, when the boy slowly woke up from his nap. "Oh, hi sweetie.", she said, but he would just start crying again.
"How is Logan already on the second book of Jurassic Park? Hadn't he just started reading the first one when I came back?", Amelia questioned in confusion after checking on her other two kids. "He's awake.", she noticed the whiny baby.
"And not calming down.", her boyfriend stated after trying to stop their son from being sad when Teddy couldn't. Once Leo saw his mother, he reached for her, which caused her to stop for a second, not believing that she was the chosen one.
"You were the one spending time with him when he fell asleep, now he wants you as he is awake.", her friend let her know. "That's why I told you to take over. And now you should do it again.", she said.
"Hi, sweetheart!", the neurosurgeon greeted the one-year-old and gently lifted him out of Owen's arms and into hers to sit down with him and to snuggle with him. Leo immediately calmed down. "Are you a little moody today, huh?", she asked, softly kissing his head while she rocked him. "Whatcha staring at?", she wanted to know from the redhead, who blushed.
"Shut up!", he told her and pouted, before he smiled at his girlfriend, that grinned at him. "So, how's it going with Koracick?", he addressed Teddy, who had been seeing the blonde regularly ever since their first time together.
"Great actually.", she shared. "He's really nice and funny.", she added, looking at Amelia, who was smirking. "And good in bed, too.", the blonde didn't leave out that detail either, aware of what that smirk meant. "Did you two do it since...well, you know?"
"You don't wanna know.", the brunette replied, obviously answering the question with a clear yes. The cardio surgeon stared at her demandingly, meaning she sighed and chose to give her the reply she was expecting. "About ten times."
"How? You guys have three kids! I mean, I live with you, and I might have been at work or with Tom then and there but...how?", her colleague wondered amused and shook her head, making her friends laugh with her reaction. "Baby number 4 on the way now?"
"Nah.", Amelia responded but decided that this could be a good moment to ask her boyfriend. "Would you want another kid...a baby with me? Because I had a year to think about it and I am not getting any younger and uhm-"
"Babe, are you asking me if I want to have a fourth child with you? If I want to have a baby with you?", Owen questioned, watching her nod slowly. "Oh my God, of course I do! I absolutely one hundred percent do!", he beamed, got up and pressed his lips against hers.
"I'll be an aunty again!", Teddy cheered. "The aunty who made my niece's or nephew's parents finally have the talk about them and is the reason the baby will be coming soon.", she grinned proudly. "Thank me later."
