Monday, 13th December:

"Alrighty!", Arizona said as she started the ultrasound. Her friends were holding hands and while Owen was excitedly staring at the screen, Amelia's eyes read both, happiness, and fear. "Hey, it's okay.", she comfortingly smiled at her colleague.

"I hope it is.", the brunette mumbled softly. The few minutes she was laying there felt like an eternity. She just wanted to know if she could finally let herself be fully happy about the pregnancy or if she had to prepare herself for losing another baby.

"Oh...", the blonde accidentally whispered, watching the neurosurgeon turn her head to stare at her in shock. "No, it's all good!", she reassured the parents. "It's just...you are having twins.", she informed them.

"Twins?", Owen was the first one to speak, his face lighting up at the thought of having two babies. "Babe, we are having twins.", he repeated and glanced down at his fiancé, who was too stunned to say anything.

"And they're both fine?", Amelia wondered, her voice shaking and her lower lip trembling. How did she get so blessed all of a sudden? Her life was a mess, she couldn't be that lucky.

"From what I can see, they are. You aren't that far along. Actually, only four weeks, so there isn't much to see yet.", the peds surgeon let them know. "Let's schedule another ultrasound for in four weeks, so we can be sure that nothing is wrong.", she suggested.

"Yeah, sounds great!", the redhead agreed instead of his fiancé, who he knew needed a moment or two. "Can we stay here for a little bit, or do you need the room?", he wanted to know. "Thank you!", he beamed upon being handed the picture.

"Room is all yours. See you soon, guys!", Arizona grinned at them before she left the couple alone. The brunette took the picture out of her fiancé's hand and gently caressed the two spots with the back of her right pointer finger.

"Are you happy, honey?", the trauma surgeon carefully questioned as he watched her look at the twins in awe. He didn't want to overwhelm her with his excitement, so he tried to hold it back until she somewhat gave him permission to be over the moon.

"Absolutely.", the brunette finally beamed up at him. "We are having two babies, Owen.", she said and sat up to open her arms for a tight hug. "I can't believe this!", she happily sniffled, resting her right ear against his beating heart.

"Oh wow, are you a snow dog?", Owen asked Eleanor once they arrived back home, where his mother had been watching the husky and Leo. While she was playing in the snow with the two-year-old, Ella had the time of her life by just running around the yard.

"Woof!", she confirmed the assumption, resting her front paws against her owner's legs while she stood on her back legs. She really liked the snow but what she loved were cuddles, which she got.

"Hi, baby!", Amelia beamed at her son, who was stumbling into her open arms to greet his mama. She picked him up and walked over to her fiancé and dog, where Evelyn was heading as well. "Hello, small bean!", she grinned at Ellie, that started running around again.

"She loves the snow.", her future-mother-in-law chuckled. "Leo and I have been out here for a few minutes, I think we should all go inside and warm up a bit.", she suggested. "El, you can go outside later again!", she called the husky, who obeyed and followed them. Evelyn was extremely curious if Amelia was pregnant or not, but she knew that the brunette would tell her as soon as she was comfortable with it.

"Hot chocolate for you.", her son told her, handing his mother a cup. They were all resting on the couch. "One for you.", he handed the next mug to his fiancé. "And one for us, buddy!", the trauma surgeon informed his two-year-old, who was snuggling with his dad.

"Woof!", Eleanor complained. It wasn't fair at all that everybody got to have a hot chocolate while she didn't. Wasn't that obvious?! "Woof!", she repeated, sitting down in front of her mama.

"You want us to kill you, or what?", the neurosurgeon chuckled. "Chocolate is poisonous for you, sweetheart.", she let the dog know. "But I do have a tasty little snack for you right here.", she grinned, grabbing one of the rather long treats out of the bag on the table next to the couch, where the husky had no chance to get to and steal one. "Paw!", she ordered, soon feeling a soft little paw in her hand. "Good girl!", she praised and gave her the snack.

"Do you like the hot chocolate?", her fiancé asked their son. Of course, theirs wasn't hot anymore, only warmish. Owen was basically waiting for Amelia to tell his mom about the pregnancy, since he didn't want to take it away from her.

"Yeah!", Leo giggled cutely, melting everybody's heart. He enjoyed staying home with his parents to the fullest, even though he didn't really know that it was unusual to be home 24/7. "Me wikes it."

"I'm pregnant.", Amelia finally couldn't stop herself from sharing the news with Evelyn anymore. "With twins.", she continued. The grey-haired-woman waited, since she could see that her future-daughter-in-law wasn't done yet. "And I need you to help me stay sane and healthy, so I get to give birth to them."

"Oh, dear.", Evelyn replied. "That's a good thing, congratulations!", she said to both, Owen, and Amelia, but decided to focus on the brunette first and wrapped her in a side hug. "I'll be here to help you and to be there for you, sweetheart. You will get to give birth to them."

"I'm only four weeks along. Every freaking minute is so scary! I feel like I cannot breathe, that if I move, I will lose them.", the neurosurgeon let her guard down, breaking her fiancé's heart. He just wanted her to be okay.

"You cannot let the fear get the best of you because that is the thing that causes internal stress. Feel your belly, even if it's not there yet, rub it and concentrate on your breathing for a minute whenever you feel overwhelmed. That helped me when I was pregnant with Megan.", Owen's mother advised softly.
