"Hey, you wanna hold him?", Owen asked his girlfriend when she opened her eyes after sleeping for almost two hours. Layla was also stirring and then waking up. Her father was playing with Leo with his colorful cups on top of the bed.

"No, I think I'll pass.", Amelia answered to his surprise. That was something she never would have said before she went missing. "Did you have a good nap, love?", she addressed her daughter, basically ignoring the baby.

"Uh, can I ask you why you don't want to hold your son?", the redhead didn't give up and decided to continue questioning her decision. She shyly glanced back over at them and then her eyes met his. He could read fear in them. Was she scared?

"Because as of right now, I am a stranger to Leo, and he will probably cry once I take him. I...I can't...this will break me. I don't want him to feel unsafe with me.", the neurosurgeon quietly admitted, feeling the toddler wrap her arms around her neck.

"Mommy, I love you and I'm never going to let go of you again.", Layla announced, nuzzling her face into her mama's neck. "You don't need to snuggle with Leo because you can cuddle with me.", she added.

"Baby, mama is also your brothers' mother, and they get to have as much mommy time as you do, understood sweetheart?", her father meddled. "Let's go have ice cream in the kitchen. Logan came back a few minutes ago."

"Fine.", the mini brunette agreed but was still clinging to her mom. "Mommy, can you help me change?", she wondered. Her dad noticed how his girlfriend was about to answer yes, of course not aware of what the girl could do by herself by now.

"Nope, you can do it yourself.", Owen reminded his kid, motioning for her to go do it. "Dramatic as she's always been.", he chuckled when they watched the four-year-old stomp off by herself. "Do you have any dinner wishes today? We can have just bread...or maybe I can show you my new lasagna recipe, which we all love? I don't know...your choice. The kids are in love with the lasagna, and we could show you what the children have made over the past year? Drawings and stuff, you know...well, uhm...I'm sorry.", he apologized. "It's just...I want to show you so many things. Please just tell me if I am overwhelming you. I am so excited but maybe you are not and-"

"Babe, stop rambling!", Amelia ordered with a grin on her face, grasping his hand. "I have been bored out of my mind for an entire year and I missed so many things...I want you guys to show me everything, including that lasagna recipe. I might just not eat as much as you'd like because I am still adjusting."

"Oh, that's alright. Our eldest is a glutton anyway. There's not much left when he joins the lasagna party.", her boyfriend replied and blushed after hearing the nickname. "I bought all three of your favorite ice creams. Vanilla, mint chocolate chip and coffee."

"You're the best!", she smiled at him and leaned in to kiss his lips when suddenly she felt something rather hard against her leg, causing her to look down and see Leo, who was trying to hand her the blue cup. "Well, thank you.", she beamed at the boy, making him smile too.

"Hi, where are you coming from?", Amelia asked Teddy, who quietly walked into the living room at 10pm. "Thought you'd be back for dinner.", she pointed out. The brunette was sitting on the couch, watching TV while her boyfriend was peacefully sleeping with his head in her lap.

"Yeah, well...I might have slept with your former mentor.", the blonde shared, chuckling at the way the other woman widened her eyes before she scoffed in amusement. "What?"

"You had sex with Tom?", the neurosurgeon wanted her to confirm it and she nodded. "And how is he in bed?", she wondered, watching her friend grab a bag of chips as she took a seat in the armchair.

"Really good actually. After that, we ate a plate of fries together.", Teddy giggled. "How did it go with the kids? And with being back?", she softly questioned, a little confused about Owen being the only one of them who was asleep.

"Layla is like a magnet glued to me. Logan is a little bubblier than I remember, and I haven't really interacted with Leo.", her colleague shared. "We ate ice cream and lasagna, looked at schoolwork the children have made over the past year and played."

"Why do I feel a but coming?", the cardio surgeon asked, noticing the sad look on the other woman's face. "Amelia, you can tell me anything. If you feel the need to talk about something that happened, go ahead."

"None of this feels right. I missed a whole year of everything...My youngest son doesn't even recognize me as his mom and if my toddler wasn't that smart, she wouldn't either. Owen is so excited about showing me stuff like the lasagna recipe, but I should have been there the first time he tried to cook it.", Amelia explained and shrugged.

"I know this might sound rough but take it from somebody who survived things she wished she hadn't had to live through. Try to move on from the need of wanting to change what has happened. None of this was your fault and you didn't cause any of it. Start talking about what they have done to you to either of us. And I don't mean just Owen, or Derek, or me. If you feel most comfortable by speaking to Evelyn or even Richard Webber? Do that. But you have to do it, Amelia.", the blonde advised. "Because otherwise you won't come back from it. You seem rather fine physically, but I cannot look inside you and I am pretty sure that you are mentally unstable, no offense. What you told me is proof enough that you're currently overwhelmed, so take it easy and try to develop a routine together with Owen and the kids. This will help you; I promise. And we are all here for you."

"God, now I feel like such a bitch for yelling at you this morning.", her friend replied, cracking a smile when she heard Teddy laugh. She hadn't expected her to be so supportive. "Thank you!"
