"Hi!", Amelia greeted her happy dog when Eleanor and Owen came back from a walk. The husky sat down beside the counter and excitedly glanced up at her mother after drinking from her water bowl. "You want a snack?", she asked, causing Ellie to show her tongue. "Guess that's a yes. Here you go."

"Hey!", her husband greeted her and came over to give her a kiss. "You made little pizzas?", he questioned upon seeing her work. "Walk me through it, who got which theme?", he wanted to know as he wrapped his arms around his wife from behind and rested his cheek on her shoulder.

"Leo has animals as per request. Luna has stars. I made Layla's box Disney-themed, and Lucas' food is flower-shaped. You have the dinosaurs.", the neurosurgeon proudly reported. She would prepare fruits and vegetables in the morning in order for them to stay fresh.

"And what do you have? Are those brains, Woman?", Owen asked, finding her obsession with the organ too hilarious sometimes. She nodded eagerly, making him chuckle. "Cool, I guess.", he whispered in her ear before he noticed the fruits she had put on the table to cut tomorrow. "Ames, why exactly is there an apple?"

"Huh?", his wife replied, confused at first. "Because our children love apples.", she stated the obvious. Then, she understood why he had asked her this in the first place. "Owen, is this about Luna?"

"It's not.", the redhead responded, letting go of her to back away in defense. He didn't want to be called out like that. "Stop looking at me like that, I just think that the kids should not have apples for one day of the week."

"Do you even realize how ridiculous you sound?", the brunette accused and sighed. "Of course, it's because of Luna. Babe, stuff like that happens. It could have been any food; it is not like apples are evil by nature or something."

"But it wasn't any food! It was an apple.", the trauma surgeon reminded her. "She choked on an apple.", he repeated and let himself fall backwards on the nearest chair at the dining table next to the counter.

"And now she is fine...", Amelia argued, at a loss for words because she could see how scared he was but didn't know what she was supposed to say. "Owen, I am begging you to stay reasonable."

"How can I be reasonable when my baby could have died today?!", her husband raised his voice at her and watched her bite her lower lip. El had run to the couches in shock and decided to rest there. "Sorry."

"No, it's okay. Don't apologize for being afraid.", the neurosurgeon said. "Just...talk to me. Is it really the apples that are making you scared? I will leave them if that's the case. But you're my husband and I know that there's something else..."

"Honey, that's absurd. I just don't want them to have apples tomorrow.", Owen continued trying to get her to agree with his opinion by not having to go into detail, but now she looked just sad.

"Why are you doing this?", his wife wanted to know. "Why do you keep shutting me out? We are married, I knew how sad my feelings for Anton would make you and I still told you. I want to help you Owen, but you are going to have to let me in at some point.", she sadly explained, quite disappointed with his behavior.

"I honestly don't understand why you're even asking me this!", the redhead picked a fight, too proud to let his guard down. "Our daughter could have died today, and you seem very unfaced by it."

"You don't get to do that!", the brunette defended herself. "I was not unfaced when it happened, I was terrified and heartbroken. But there's no need to still be scared when she's literally fine! The danger is over."

"No Amelia, the danger is never over!", trauma surgeon slightly yelled at her. "Don't you understand that this can happen every freaking day? That we could lose our kids every single day?", he questioned.

"Of course, I am well aware of that, I am a surgeon!", Amelia responded and shook her head. "But I am not going to wake up with that thought and go to bed with it as well, because that's going to kill me. And it is currently killing you. Anton was there and saved Luna. We can't wander around thinking one of our children might be dying. What kind of life is that? You cannot protect them from everything that is happening in this world."

"Exactly! Which makes me a terrible dad.", her husband concluded. "I wasn't there for my daughter when she needed me today. If that had happened before Logan's flight, I would not have let him leave.", he argued.

"Babe, what do you expect me to say to you? I am not going to agree with you because I believe that you're the very best father ever and not being able to be around all five of our children to protect them 24/7 is no quality I think you're supposed to have. It is simply impossible. You're currently destroying yourself by having such unreal expectations of yourself.", the neurosurgeon explained. "I think today was a long day for you and that you should get some sleep. Once you're ready for my support, I'll give it to you, but I am not going to listen to you talk so low of yourself just because you don't have superpowers."
