"Come in!", Owen yelled when somebody knocked on the door of his office. He was currently giving away the Chief job to someone else and talking about it to Miranda, Derek, and Tom. "Hey!", he smiled at his wife when she walked in, but she didn't even look at him.

"Neither of you two can take the job.", Amelia addressed her brother and former mentor. "Because he's leaving for Iraq, and I can only work from 9am to 4pm for six months. I'm sorry but you guys will have to take the other shifts, together with Nelson and Edwards and there's no way I can pull nightshifts.", she said, basically begging the men to do this for her without exactly saying so.

"You what?!", Derek questioned his friend's choice and stared at him in shock. "You're leaving for six months? Why now?", he asked, not quite understanding what made Owen leave. "She can't take care of five kids and a dog by herself."

"This is none of your business.", the redhead told the brunette, annoyed by his attitude. "Do you agree with Dr. Bailey becoming Chief?", he asked him, since that was the issue they were currently talking about. The neurosurgeon nodded and noticed how his sister glanced at Tom, hoping for him to give up this job for her.

"Congratulations, Dr. Bailey.", the blonde smiled at the general surgeon before he winked at his friend, who looked really relieved before she left the room, followed by her husband.

"Amelia, wait!", the trauma surgeon shouted, watching her walk to the stairs. She turned around to face him, angrily staring him down. "Can we please just talk about this? I know you're mad at me. But please speak to me."

"Why? You are leaving anyway. There is no need to talk to you about it. My opinion didn't matter to you. So, all I can do is re-arrange my life and schedule and hope for everybody to be as selfless as Tom and Derek.", the brunette argued and shrugged hopelessly.

"Selfless? They are the most arrogant people I know.", Owen pointed out in confusion. "Your opinion does matter, babe. But...I think I had already decided to leave when you told me you don't want me to."

"Because you asked me when it was almost too late!", the neurosurgeon reminded him angrily. "Also, usually they might be the most arrogant people I know. But right now...it's you. And I am ashamed of being married to you. I-", she began and took a step back without thinking, causing her to trip and fall down the stairs.

"AMELIA!", her husband screamed, running downstairs to check her injuries. She was unconscious. "I need a gurney, right now!", he yelled for somebody to help. Teddy had seen her friend fall and immediately joined the redhead to treat her.

"What the hell happened?", the blonde wanted to know as they pushed her into a trauma room, waiting for Stephanie to come and do a neuro check-up as they worked on the rest of her still unconscious body.

"We...we fought...and she took a step back and lost her balance, so she fell down the stairs.", the redhead explained, worry evident in his face. "Edwards, please check her head and everything.", he asked the neurosurgeon, who walked into the room.

"Okay, she looks fine everywhere else.", Teddy said. "She's been lucky.", she sighed and got paged to another trauma. Her best friend was standing there, watching the brunette perform a neuro exam on his wife, whose eyes were slowly opening.

"Ouch...", she woke up, remembering her fall and pretty sure that she was having a few injuries. Something she absolutely did not need right now. "So, how broken is my brain?", she asked her former student once she noticed her.

"Not at all. As Dr. Altman said, you were extremely lucky. You have like two bruises but nothing else.", her friend smiled at her. "I'm gonna give you two some privacy.", she figured and left as well.

"I'm so sorry!", the trauma surgeon sniffled while he helped her sit up. Her legs were dangling down the gurney. He still looked extremely worried, but also somewhat guilty.

"Well, you didn't push me down those stairs.", Amelia replied before she fell silent. "Can't we just compromise? If you wish to serve, then you should. But how about in two years when the children are a little bit older?"

Owen knew exactly what his answer was going to be and therefore decided to connect their lips one more time since he was sure she wouldn't want to kiss him after his response. He took his time, kissing her passionately and his wife actually kissed him back, not aware that he was basically using her for his own benefits again.

"I don't think I want to do that. I'll pick up the kids now and spend some time with them before I leave once you're home. I will tell them about what's going on and I guess, I'll see you in six months. I love you, Ames!", the redhead informed her and left the trauma room as much as he left her.

The neurosurgeon started sobbing as she pulled her phone out of her lab coat pocket and called a number she knew just too well. She desperately waited for the other person to pick up.

"Hey, dear.", Owen's mother greeted her sweetly and waited for her to say something, already alarmed upon hearing her sniffles. "Are you alright?", she wondered.

"Evelyn?", the brunette cried. "Can you please come over for dinner and spend the night at our house?", she begged another person in the span of two hours and felt so helpless as she did.

"Of course, love.", her mother-in-law agreed softly, causing Amelia to end the call after thanking her. What had happened to her marriage that her husband was so eager to leave? Was he really going to go to Iraq, or did he have an affair?
