"Daddy?", Leo mumbled tiredly as he felt some weight on the bed next to him and smelled the familiar scent of his father. "Is it morning already?", he wondered, slowly opening his eyes in the dark.

"No, Honey. It's time for your mom and me to go to sleep too.", the redhead explained softly. "It's actually very late, so you should close your eyes again.", he advised, embracing the toddler.

"Okay.", the four-year-old hummed in agreement. "It was very cold in here, so I called up Eleanor to warm my feet.", he shared, informing his dad about the fact that the sleeping husky was his personal heater.

"Good idea, I bet she likes to be there for you.", Owen answered, when his wife finally joined them and kissed their son's temple to say good night again as well. Of course, they had hoped for him to stay asleep but that hadn't been very likely considering the bed had been moving once they had joined him.

"Good night, Baby.", Amelia said, basically ending their conversation and telling Leo it was time to continue sleeping without directly saying so. "We love you.", she added, kissing his cheek, before she moved on to her husband's lips. "Love you.", she told Owen.

"Lucas seems to finally have surrendered to a somewhat deeper sleep now as well.", the trauma surgeon pointed out, feeling relieved as he closed his own eyes. "Good night, love you guys.", he whispered.

"Good morning.", Derek greeted his sister, who walked into the kitchen in confusion. "I made breakfast.", he smiled at her, holding Lucas in his left arm. "And that's my wide-awake little kitchen helper.", he shared since the boy had been crying constantly since 4am.

"Thank you.", the brunette sighed, feeling super exhausted because they got even less sleep than before ever since their son had decided to be cranky basically all the time. "You've been awake with him since 4am?"

"Basically. I stayed in his room after Owen had put him down again at 4 and when he wouldn't go back to sleep, I took him down here with me and we tried to relax a little on the couch. Right, Buddy?", her brother asked his nephew.

"Yeah.", Lucas nodded eagerly, now reaching for his mama because he wanted her to cuddle him. "Mamamam.", he tried to continue sharing the story his uncle was telling, or maybe he was just hungry again, nobody really knew.

"Exactly, after we had napped for a while longer, we played a little bit, and then we went to get fresh food from the bakery.", the neurosurgeon reported softly. "By the way, I took your car...or well, Addison's, because I was too lazy to install the baby seats in your actual vehicle that early in the morning. And I let him have a chocolate croissant since that's the only way he wouldn't be upset with me."

"That's the way to go, isn't it, Honey?", Amelia grinned at her boy, who was rubbing his eyes now, tired after missing so much sleep last night. "Did he fall asleep again in the car?"

"Sadly not. I think we should definitely take the stroller for our trip today.", the other Shepherd replied. "Mer is getting the kids ready together with Owen, right?", he questioned, watching his sister nod as she carried around the tired boy.

"Layla, I thought you said you had cleaned that up?", they heard the trauma surgeon yell about five minutes later when almost everybody was downstairs at the table, waiting for only the two of them. "I told you to do that before you went to bed yesterday!", he shouted.

"Yeah, but I-", the seven-year-old began, trying to defend herself, but her father wouldn't let her and interrupted her, still raising his voice at the girl, who was now crying as she let her dad be mad at her.

"No, I don't wanna hear any buts!", Owen scolded his daughter so loudly, Lucas and Luna started crying at the same time. Amelia looked very conflicted on what to do now, before she finally made the decision of getting up and going upstairs.

"Sorry but could you two please calm them down?", she asked her brother and her sister-in-law and then, she disappeared, walking up the stairs. "No, Owen, stop!", she got in the middle of her husband's and child's fight. "Layla, it's okay, I know you have cleaned it up. Breakfast is waiting downstairs, Sweetie."

"If it's cleaned up, then why is it in the exact same spot again?", the redhead ironically wanted to know from his wife, who was currently pulling him into their bedroom and closing the door.

"Because the girls built it up again. It is not the same as yesterday and you are just looking for a reason to get angry at somebody because you are extremely tired and therefore moody, aren't you?", the brunette challenged him. "I get it Owen, I am also pissed at the whole situation we're currently in...but you cannot let it out on our daughter or any other kid in this household. Get it together!"

"Shit...", her husband realized what he had done and shook his head in shame. "You're right, I cannot get it out that way. So, I'm gonna get it out through another.", he let her know, locking the door that was behind them and grabbing her cheeks to kiss her passionately as he slowly but firmly pushed her into the bathroom. "Step.", he said, leading her into the shower, ripping off their clothes. "They can have breakfast without us, we'll join them later."
