Amelia was sitting in the living room with her friends. They had decided to have a girl's night, during which they would figure stuff out for their Christmas vacation. The kids were already sleeping, and Owen was walking Eleanor.
"Okay, Evelyn said she doesn't mind having some kids in her room, right?", Maggie asked Amelia, who had talked to her mother-in-law about joining them in Germany in December. "Because if Ellis travels between Mer and Derek and me and Andrew, depends on when they wanna be left alone at night, we still have Daniel and Fiona left."
"Details I do not want to know.", the brunette informed her sister after Meredith had scolded the cardio surgeon as well. "Exactly. They are both basically her grandkids, so I think this should work.", she figured.
Evelyn technically wasn't the grandma of Teddy's children, but she had known the blonde for years and she felt like a daughter to her, plus Killian and Fiona did not have other grandparents anymore.
"Great, did somebody take notes?", Megan wondered. She had been way too lazy to write down anything, especially since she was enjoying the wine and the snacks a little bit too much this evening.
"I did.", her best friend confirmed. "If we do it like that, we need ten bedrooms. One for Logan, Farouk and Killian, one for Zola and Layla, who have begged us to get a room for two, one for Bailey and Leo, unless Leo-bear decides to throw yet another tantrum to sleep with his parents, one for Luna and Lucas, the one for Evelyn and the babes and each couple gets their own room.", Teddy shared.
"Mama...", the toddler could be heard from upstairs and walked down to them, sucking on his finger in the process. He pouted as he waddled over to the neurosurgeon, looking really tired.
"Did you sense that?", Amelia quietly questioned her friend, who had just made a joke about the clingy boy. "What's wrong, sweetie?", she wondered once she had gotten up to lift him into her arms.
"Mmm...", the three-year-old whined and hid his face in his mother's neck, still trying to eat his already wet fingers. "Mmm...", he mumbled again, not really having a valid reason to be down here but wanting mommy-snuggles so badly.
"It's very late, honey.", the brunette pointed out. "What are your feelings right now?", she tried another method of getting her son to voice what was bothering him and keeping him from sleeping peacefully.
"Bored.", the mini blonde answered. "I wanna cuddle with you.", he further explained and pressed his face even deeper into her neck when he heard his father come home, well aware of how unimpressed he would be.
"No, Leo. We have cuddled for half an hour before you went to bed, only the two of us. As you can see, mama is busy. Bored is not a feeling that is reason enough for you to get out of bed. Sleepy time is not an option, and you know it, baby.", his mother scolded him softly.
"Exactly.", her husband agreed after greeting their friends with another short Hi. He had seen them earlier already, but it felt weird not to say something. "And I'll bring you back to bed, so mommy can continue planning our vacation. If you don't let her, we need to stay here while your cousins and friends get to go to Germany."
"No!", Leo pouted, fearing the loss of his Christmas vacation, and letting his dad lift him out of his mama's arms to save it. He much rather had his mother with him when he fell asleep, but he had to be a good boy now, otherwise they would stay home for Christmas.
"Good night, love!", the neurosurgeon said and gently kissed him before she waved as Owen brought their toddler back upstairs. "Great, so that's settled. Let's get back to figuring this out.", she announced. "Yes, you can give her a few treats, Maggie.", she chuckled upon seeing her sister beg her through her eyes while Ella was sitting in front of the brunette, waggling her tail.
"Rooms were done.", Meredith reminded everybody. "Now cars. How many do we need? Are you guys going to take the van?", she wanted to know from Amelia, who nodded. "So, you can take one more person."
"That's perfect.", Megan realized. "Because if we all take our cars and kids, Owen and Amelia can take our mom, and Maggie and Andrew will join one more car each since yours and Derek's is already filled with your family."
"Makes sense.", Teddy agreed. "Okay, Tom and I will book a mansion and a bus into which all of us fit. We are gonna look for some houses tomorrow and send you the links into our group chat, so you can have a say in which one it will be."
"Amazing.", Amelia smiled, satisfied with today's outcome. "Did he go back down okay?", she asked her husband when he came back half a minute later. He nodded and walked over to her to give her a kiss.
"As always. You know him. He's trying to get to sleep in our bed every night.", Owen reminded his wife softly. "I see Eleanor is taken care of, so I guess I'll do the dishes.", he decided, wanting to give her some time with her friends.
"Thank you, babe.", the brunette replied, causing her sister-in-law to grin happily. "What?", she wondered and chuckled upon seeing Megan's excited facial expression. "Something wrong?"
"I'm just so glad to see you two like that. I wasn't so sure if you would actually forgive him. For the record, if Nathan did something like this, I probably wouldn't have.", the trauma surgeon let her friend know. "So, it's just great to see you two be a team again."
