"Good morning, Honey!", Owen smiled at his wife once she opened her eyes and turned around to him to check if he was awake. She groaned cutely, still tired, but smiled back at him. "Merry Christmas...German Christmas!", he winked at her and gently cupped her left cheek with his hand to softly run his thumb over it.
"Good morning!", Amelia replied and yawned. "Merry Christmas!", she said, enjoying the soft way her husband was caressing her cheek. "No morning guests yet?", she wondered. Usually, Leo and Layla always joined their parents in bed once they woke up.
"Not yet, but they know that tomorrow they'll get the presents, so they have no reason to be up this early.", the trauma surgeon chuckled and pecked her lips. "How did you sleep? You looked peaceful."
"Got a point there.", the brunette grinned. "Did you watch me sleep, Creep?", she asked him and laughed when he nodded. "I still don't understand why this is your favorite thing to do in the mornings, but I actually did sleep amazing.", she confirmed.
"Because you look so cute when you sleep, I cannot help it.", the redhead shrugged. "But now that I said this, I do get that it sounds kinda creepy indeed.", he laughed, gently kissing his wife's lips again. "So, we're gonna be Aunty and Uncle again.", he started a new, a little deeper, conversation.
"We are.", the neurosurgeon beamed, happy about the new family member. "I hope it's a girl this time, Farouk and Nathan do too and even though Meg doesn't want to pick, I believe she agrees with us.", she explained. "Why?", she wondered softly and saw his curious eyes.
"Well, I was just...I was wondering if you wanted another baby or if you're done having kids...we've never talked about it and ever since my sister dropped the news, I have wanted to ask you.", Owen nervously shared.
"Uhm...honestly, I haven't really thought about it. But now that you ask, I think I am actually done having babies. I mean, the two of us won't get younger and we have five beautiful children. Each of them deserves as much attention as they can get and another kid would mean even more sharing for them but also more of our time and I think that five is the perfect number for me.", Amelia answered, scared of hurting her husband by being brutally honest with him. "Is that okay with you?", she softly questioned when suddenly, Eleanor jumped onto the bed and laid down in between them.
"Well, I would say we already have a sixth child.", the trauma surgeon joked and greeted the husky with a few kisses and lots of pets, receiving kisses from her too. His wife chuckled and started cuddling the dog as well. "And to answer your question, it is okay with me. That is why I asked you, because honestly, if you had said that you would want eight more kids? I would have given them to you. And if you don't want any more children? We don't need to have them. I would love to raise all your babies, but I don't have to. And you are right, our five-", a wet lick over his face corrected him. "Six kids are perfect and deserve as much of our time and attention as they can get."
"Good, I was a little scared of breaking your heart by letting you know that I am done having more children.", the brunette admitted. "I do think we have some extraordinary personalities in this family, I mean you called them a teenager, a clown, and a drama queen and they agreed...well, Logan didn't and called himself a baby. Which kid does that? They are crazy and I love them for it, but there are two more personalities to be developed and the whole group will eventually drive us nuts."
"You're right about that.", her husband replied and laughed. Suddenly, they heard Lucas through the baby monitor. Since he was crying, it was no wonder that Luna also woke up. "I'm gonna get them.", he announced and pecked her lips once again.
"Alrighty.", the neurosurgeon smiled at him and continued snuggling with Eleanor until Owen walked back into their room. Their daughter was just cuddling with her father, but their son was still crying, which was rather unusual for whenever his dad was near him.
"Somebody decided that he would hate his daddy today and make this a mama's day.", the redhead informed his wife and handed her Lucas after putting Luna down onto the bed. The boy immediately clung to his mother without looking back up.
"Fun.", Amelia commented, realizing that she wouldn't be able to go anywhere without Lucas today and that he wouldn't let her do anything without him in her arms either. "Did you have a bad night, Sweetheart?", she asked the baby while she greeted his sister with a big kiss. "Good morning, Angel!"
"Woof!", Eleanor decided to comfort her child and jumped on top of her mama's legs to reach the kid with her snout, protecting him from everything bad on the world. Her parents glanced at each other in awe. She really was their children's second mom.
"Well, let's hang out then.", Owen told his daughter and lifted Luna into his arms to give her some morning cuddles as well. "Our kids are pretty cuddly.", he noticed, also referring to Leo and Layla, who still hadn't joined them but probably would any minute. "And I love everything about it.", he added with a sweet grin.
"You are such a dork, Mister!", the brunette responded as her face lit up. "I guess, I'll just put Lukie into the carrier, so he does not run out of body contact with me, and I can still get some stuff done. I promised Teddy that I would help her with the food."
"Yeah, okay.", her husband approved the plan. "Makes sense with getting stuff done, but generally you don't have to help. Everyone will understand and we are enough people to prepare the food. If you wanna help, that's fine. But if you need a break, that is also totally alright because Lucas is one-and-a-half years old and carrying him all day is exhausting."
