"Here, take one of my tacos.", Logan shared his lunch with his sister, handing her the food. She was eating fries at the airport while he had chosen tacos and he knew how much she wanted to try one.
"Thank you!", the seven-year-old smiled at him and then, she sighed. "I don't want you to go for a whole weekend.", she pouted cutely, lamely biting into one of her fries. "It makes me the biggest kid and I don't want to have that responsibility. Also, I'll miss you!"
"I am going to be back on Sunday before dinner.", the teenager reminded his sister softly, actually touched by how sad she was about him leaving her. "And you'll have so much fun at the beach. Mom and dad are going to make sure that you will still have a great weekend, right Guys?"
"Definitely.", Owen answered as he ate another fork of his salad. "Although we are going to miss you too.", he pointed out to his son, so he wouldn't think they were happier with him gone or something.
"Can we watch a movie in your bed tonight?", Layla begged her parents. Usually, they had their movie nights in the living room, but maybe they would agree on having one in their bed since her big brother wouldn't be part of it. "With Leo?"
"Yes, we can.", Amelia promised her daughter, who seemed truly crushed about the fact that Logan's plane was going to start boarding in half an hour. "I think Leo can join us, but maybe he's too tired."
"Then he can just sleep in our bed. He's gonna miss Logan too.", her husband replied. "If he falls asleep in our bed, we can just keep him there, and Layla can have a sleepover as well.", he decided, causing his wife to nod in agreement.
"Okay Honey, this is it.", the brunette informed her oldest child once they had heard the announcement of his plane being boarded about twenty-five minutes later. "You call us as soon as you're in Uncle Derek's car. I don't want a text, I want you to call, so I can also hear his voice and be sure that you're actually safe."
"I will, Mom.", the thirteen-year-old nodded. "And I am going to text you every evening, so you know I am well. I will also call once I am at the airport in Seattle before I get onto the plane.", he repeated what they had talked about.
"Alrighty.", the neurosurgeon responded and sighed as she tightly embraced the boy. "Have a lot of fun with Atlas and the others and don't forget how we raised you to be.", she told him and kissed his head as tears filled her eyes. "I love you!"
"Bye, Logan.", Layla mumbled sadly and hugged her brother. "Please give Zola my letter and tell her to write one back.", she reminded him and then let go to wave at him. Her father was bringing Logan to the gate, so he wouldn't have to do that alone.

"Okay Sweetie, do you wanna come with me and look around for something cool to take home? Maybe a magazine?", Amelia asked her daughter while Owen grabbed the shopping list from her and started getting everything.
"Yeah.", the little girl shrugged and took her mother's hand to let her guide her through the shop. She didn't look motivated or happy at all, probably already missing her brother. She had never been without him for two whole days, and she really disliked the idea.
"Or look, here's a new coloring book. How about that one?", the brunette continued trying to cheer her kid up. It was crazy how she had expected her daughter to be in a mood during grocery shopping and now she was, but for a whole different reason.
"Sure.", the seven-year-old answered and grabbed one, still not too happy. "Can we go find daddy and go home soon?", she questioned, looking up at her mama with her big sad eyes. She nodded.
"Hey, what did you pick?", the trauma surgeon wondered once he saw his girls come back. He was almost done with getting everything from the list. His wife noticed that he had packed one of Leo's favorite magazines, so the toddler wouldn't get left out just because he wasn't here.
"A new coloring book.", Layla quietly shared and put it into the cart. Her father glanced at her mother, thinking about how he could cheer his daughter up. "Daddy, what are you doing?", she giggled once he had lifted her into his arms and carried her.
"Well, little Miss Poutypants cannot be walking around like that, or people will think that we made her sad.", Owen explained. "So, mama is going to push the cart while I carry you around the shop, just like I always used to do when you were younger."
"I like being picked up by you, Daddy.", the young brunette let him know and got comfortable in his arms, wrapping her legs around his body as she intertwined her arms around his neck to rest her chin on his shoulder.
"And I like carrying you, Angel.", the redhead said, kissing her head. "How about some mini marshmallows in a tasty hot chocolate tonight?", he suggested, feeling Layla nod against him, so he motioned for Amelia to grab a package. "Hey look, there's the kind of chips that you like so much.", he noticed, addressing his wife.
"Yeah, but look at the prize.", the neurosurgeon pointed out, about to keep walking when he just grabbed two bags himself. "Owen, they are too expensive.", she whined, internally grateful that he had decided to take the bags.
"Who cares? It's not like you're buying them every week. They aren't always available, and you can't just always buy all our favorites and none of your own.", her husband argued softly. "Right Layla?"
"Yes! Mama, you must treat yourself because you deserve it.", their daughter wisely agreed since she had raised her head to see what kind of chips her parents were talking about. "It's important that we sometimes get our favorite comfort foods."
