Tuesday, 7th July:

Owen snapped out of his sleep after he had tiredly wanted to stroke his friend's arm. When had he fallen asleep? His plan had been to stay awake to take care of Amelia who was now gone, which had caused him to quickly open his eyes.

Confused, he sat up and looked over at Logan, who was sleeping peacefully. The redhead rubbed his eyes before he got up to look for the neurosurgeon when the light coming from under the door of the bathroom caught his eye.

"Amelia, can I come in?", the trauma surgeon sleepily whispered. He slowly opened the door since she didn't answer him. After he had stepped inside, he quietly closed it behind himself. "Oh my God...", he said upon seeing his colleague leaning against the bathtub with three positive pregnancy tests in front of her.

"Yeah, no...there's no God! No God would do this to me!", Amelia replied, her voice hoarse from all the crying. Her eyes were red and her cheeks puffy. She was too ashamed to look up at him. "We used a condom at all times in that motherfucking house, but one must have broken. Can't be your kid, since I immediately went back to taking the pill once I got out."

"Come here, honey!", Owen softly requested once he was sitting next to her. He gently wrapped his arms around his friend's body, which made her sob again. "So, what do you want to do?", he slowly wondered.

"I am not giving birth to another child whose biological father is dead. I can't believe James did that to me. I know when my body changes and I knew it was happening. But I didn't take a test because I thought it wouldn't matter. He would probably be alive if he'd known about this baby. But he's dead. Killed himself. Which means, I am not going to have his kid. I will abort it as soon as possible.", the neurosurgeon decided.

"Woah...how about you take a night to think about it again...get some sleep...this is the only part of him you have left, Amelia.", the redhead reminded her carefully. "And if you took some time to think about it, I will be here for you. Either choice you make, I am going to be here for you. Just...don't make any fast decisions."

"No, that fucking coward killed himself.", the brunette repeated. "Because of me. Because I shut him out of my life. And because I didn't love him as much anymore, not the way he deserved. So, James is innocent. He's not the fucking coward, I am. And I will not have this baby! You can choose to be with me when I have the abortion or feel free not to, I honestly don't care."

"I'll come with you!", the trauma surgeon informed her. "You are currently trying very hard to push me away and I won't let you. You can't go through this alone!", he pointed out, not letting go of his friend in his arms.

"Can you make an appointment tomorrow morning and not tell anybody? I don't need to have any more conversations about if I really thought this through.", Amelia asked, wiping the tears out of her eyes and off her cheeks.

"Definitely!", Owen agreed softly. "Now let's put those away and get some sleep. It's been a hard day for you yesterday and today won't be much easier.", he decided, gently guiding his colleague back to bed after he had wrapped the pregnancy tests into toilet paper and thrown them away.

"Granma!", Layla beamed at Evelyn, who was preparing breakfast. Her father had helped her with getting dressed for the day and let go of her hand, so she could run over to his mom. Meanwhile, Megan was holding a very awake Leo while she played a board game with Logan, whose head Owen kissed gently, making the boy's face light up.

"Good morning, guys.", he greeted everyone. "Amelia is showering, and I am going to make a call I forgot about yesterday.", he lied to his family before he vanished into the bedroom to make the appointment for the abortion.

The brunette hadn't talked much this morning, still in the middle of processing her ex-boyfriend's death. She was wondering if her son had opened his letter from him or not and if he had read it because she wasn't able to do so yet.

"Is mom okay?", the ten-year-old asked his father once he walked back into the kitchen to feed Leo, who got to eat first. He had seen her this sad before only once in his life and back then, he was four years old, meaning he didn't remember much about it.

"She will be.", the trauma surgeon promised softly. "Hey, my mother made breakfast.", he told his friend, who quietly joined them a few minutes later and kissed each of her children. "You hungry?"

"A little. Thanks, Evelyn! And thank you guys for taking care of the kids yesterday and this morning.", Amelia addressed Owen's family gratefully before she lifted Layla into her chair and took her seat in between her and Logan. "Who's winning?"

"Aunt Meg.", the young brunette complained, causing everyone to chuckle, even his mom. He was just as competitive as she was and had to learn to deal with the fact that he couldn't win every game.

"Nobody ever called me their aunt before.", the redhead realized happily with tears of joy in her eyes. "I love it!", she shared, happy that Logan seemed to actually truly want to be her brother's son, otherwise he wouldn't have called her this.

"I love how I have a lot of aunts but somehow only one uncle that is close to me.", the ten-year-old pointed out, a little ironically. "Uncle Derek is the only uncle of mine that I spend time with. You should get a husband, unless you are gay, that would make another aunt."

"Well, that story is too complicated for a chill Tuesday morning.", Megan mysteriously answered. "But I will tell it to you someday, buddy.", she promised. "And it is about a man, not a woman. But I love how open-minded you are."
