She's alive! Get her – 15th Long Avenue. Hurry or she'll die. Owen's shaking hands were holding the letter he had pulled out of the mailbox and carried inside to read in the kitchen. Teddy walked in with Leo in her arms.
"What's wrong?", she questioned confused, but didn't get an answer, watching her crush run out of the house and to his car to leave. Worried, she picked up the letter that had fallen to the floor, not believing her eyes.
"Derek! 15th Long Avenue, asap!", the redhead left a voicemail for his friend, speeding through the streets of Seattle. He also called 911 before he finally arrived at said house. It was a rather old looking one, molding from the outside. "AMELIA?", he shouted.
"Mr. Hunt, stay behind us! The kidnappers might still be here, maybe they are armed.", a cop ordered, pushing the nervous man behind himself. He knew gingers were pale, but the guy looked like he was about to throw up after becoming a ghost.
"This floor is clear.", his colleague shared, motioning for them to take the stairs that probably led to a basement, which was almost empty. Almost. There was a glass cage filled with water, what used to be holes providing air for the person inside was now closed as well. "We have to break it open, NOW!"
"Does anyone have a crowbar?", another person asked but Owen couldn't really hear them anymore, his eyes focused on the petite lifeless body inside of the cage. "It's open!", was the next thing he was able to hear, causing him to run towards the door and catch Amelia in his arms.
"Amelia?", he started crying, about to begin with CPR when she started coughing. "Oh my God...", was all he could say, too overwhelmed with the fact that he had found her alive after believing she was dead for an entire year.
"Paramedics are waiting for us upstairs. Do you want us to carry her together?", one of the cops wanted to know from the trauma surgeon, who shook his head as he stroked his friend's cheek. She was even thinner than before. Only skin and bones seemed to be left.
"I'll do it.", Owen informed them, carefully lifting Amelia into his arms to carry her bridal style. "I've got you now...I promise, I've got you!", he told her, when she looked at him with her broken eyes, wrapping her arms around his neck to hold on for dear life. "Did Derek Shepherd arrive yet?", he questioned firmly after placing her on the gurney and letting the paramedics take over.
"DON'T TOUCH ME!", the scared neurosurgeon screamed, causing everybody to take a step back. "OWEN?", she sobbed, looking around for him in panic. "OWEN?", she repeated more desperately and finally saw him again.
"Hey, I am here! I am not letting go.", her colleague promised, grabbing her hand. "Please let them do a quick check-up, though.", he begged. "We have to make sure that you don't have any severe wounds. After this, take her to Grey-Sloan-Memorial-Hospital.", he addressed everyone else.
"There's no Derek Shepherd here, sorry.", someone responded to his former question after asking everybody for their names. "Can we take her to the hospital now?", he wondered, staring at another paramedic, who nodded.
"Who do we have?", Megan innocently questioned with Richard, Maggie, and Derek behind her. The brunette hadn't had a chance to check his phone yet, causing him to widen his eyes at the sight of his pale sister, who he had thought was dead.
"Amy...", his voice cracked when he slowly walked up to her, Owen still on her other side, holding her hand. "You...you're alive.", he pointed out in shock, letting the tears run down his cheeks as he gently wrapped her in a small hug. "God...I can't believe this..."
"We need another neurosurgeon.", Richard decided professionally. "Hunt, go call Tom Koracick from Hopkins and make him come here as soon as possible!", he demanded, basically meaning Owen, since he wouldn't get to work on the person he loved.
"I'll do it!", Megan announced, noticing that her brother wasn't going to leave Amelia's side. "Take her to a room and page me once you're there, so I know where to go.", she added and left.
"This is taking too long!", Derek decided two hours later. "I am not gonna sit here, waiting for Tom.", he shared, feeling Meredith stroke his shoulder. His sister had turned away from everyone but Owen and was laying in the fetal position, softly staring into his eyes as he caressed her hand, sitting in the armchair across from her and looking back at her. "What's your name? What are your siblings called? How old are you?"
"Amelia Shepherd.", the brunette replied quietly. "Derek, Kathleen, Liz and Nancy. I am thirty-four.", she answered all of his questions, noticing the way her friend glanced up at her brother, who was probably standing behind her. "What?"
"How old is Logan?", Owen chose to ask the next question and swallowed heavily when she responded with ten. "Amelia, you are thirty-five and Logan is eleven. You have been kidnapped for a whole year.", he softly let her know.
"So, Layla is four and in pre-school and Leo is one?", the neurosurgeon wondered, the pain visible in her eyes when she watched her counterpart nod. He hadn't brought up their names, since that situation appeared to be a bit more complicated than he wanted it to be. "Can I have a slice of bread? I'm hungry...", she vulnerably mumbled.
"Yeah, of course!", Maggie replied and went to get one, just as confused as everyone else about the fact that she wanted to eat dry bread. "Here you go.", she smiled at her sister, handing her the slice, and watching her take a bite.
"Okay, I'll have the rest over the next two days.", Amelia announced, giving Owen the bread to put on the table next to them. He didn't understand how she had eaten enough to not be hungry anymore, since the bite was so small but realized she was still hungry upon hearing her stomach growl.
"Honey, you can eat the whole slice, you know?", the redhead slowly explained to her, trying not to overwhelm her. "There's always more if you still want some and you can have something fresh to eat the next time you feel hungry, even tomorrow and the day after."
"No. That's not the rule...one slice for three days.", his friend contradicted, causing everybody to understand that she had lived this way for an entire year and that this was the reason she was so thin now.

a/n: Do I look like I would kill Amelia?! It was fun to read your reactions though and you're lucky I didn't go with my original plan of writing a chapter about each month of the damn year she was missing, because I couldn't live with the pain lol. Plus, this is still an Omelia story and not a Towen one. :D
