"I swear, if our marriage survives this trip, then we are definitely meant to be.", Amelia joked as she climbed into bed. It was only 9pm, but they would have to get up at 1:30am and wake the kids at 2am since they would leave for the airport at 2:30am.
"Wow, very optimistic of you.", her husband chuckled and shook his head in amusement, pulling the blanket over her to make sure she was fully covered, since it was the middle of December and rather cold outside. They had prepared as much of the luggage as they were able to before tomorrow morning.
"This is going to be a nightmare.", the brunette sighed, referring to the journey to Germany and not the time there. "Are you still planning on staying awake during the night?", she wondered curiously, watching Owen get into bed with her.
"Not anymore. If we fall asleep during the next half an hour, we will still get four hours of sleep, which is more than I expected we would get.", the trauma surgeon shared and yawned. "Ellie is already resting, too. I hope she still loves us after the flight tomorrow.", he half-joked, half-worried.
"It's Eleanor, of course she will, babe.", his wife reassured him. "Good night.", she said and closed her eyes after turning off the little light on her nightstand. They had brought all the kids to bed at seven as they usually did with the smaller ones. They would get less sleep than normally, so it had been crucial that Logan went to bed earlier as well.

"Dad, I'm hungry!", Killian complained. He was sitting with his father and sister while his mom was sharing a row with Meredith and Bailey. "Do we have some snacks?", he asked, already bored of having to fly for 13,5 hours.
"Yeah, wait. Mommy has the cookies. Honey, can you give us the cookies, please? Killian is hungry.", Tom told Teddy, who let Bailey grab some first before she handed them to her boyfriend. The package reached everyone before she put it back into her bag.
"When is it breakfast time, Daddy?", Layla wanted to know from her own father after eating two cookies, too. "And what time is it in Germany now? Our whole day will be weird, right?", she giggled.
"In an hour, sweetheart.", Owen replied. Lucas was sleeping next to him in his baby chair that was buckled into the normal seat. Layla was glancing out of the window. "Currently it is 4:30pm there, so when we arrive it will be 3am. You are right, our whole day will be weird. We will take the first day to sleep and relax and get settled in."
"Okay. Can you read my book with me?", the seven-year-old sweetly questioned as she pulled it out of her little backpack. She watched her dad nod and opened it on the page she had stopped at.
The redhead looked over at his wife and other two younger kids, who were all sleeping. Leo was resting his head against his little pillow, which was pressed in between his head and his mother's shoulder, holding his Togepi plushy close to him.
He hadn't wanted to sit next to the window, so Luna got to. Just like her brother, she was sitting in a baby chair. Amelia's head rested slightly against her son's, and she was rather laying in her seat than actually sitting.
Owen: Hey Bud, how's it going?
Logan: Good, Dad. You don't need to worry all the time. :D
Owen: I just wanna know that you're fine. Do you feel left out?
Logan: I am sitting with Farouk and Grandma, why would you think that?
Owen: Because as a family of seven, it feels wrong to have one member sit somewhere else.
Logan: Don't worry, Dad. We both wouldn't have wanted to spend more than 13 hours straight with each other and you know it. :D
Owen: You've got a point there. Watcha doing? :)
Logan: We're playing Mario Kart. Grandma's resting, so we wanted to do something quiet since we got to sleep earlier.
Owen: That's kind of you! Have fun then. Text me if something's wrong!
Logan: I will! ;)
Owen: Oh, and Layla says Hi. :D
Logan: Hey, little one. <3
"When can I have a phone, Daddy?", the young brunette asked with her big blue eyes, patiently waiting for them to read. "Because I think I am old enough to handle it.", she added an explanation of why she needed one soonish.
"Well, mommy and I think you're too young. What would you have to use it for? We are picking you up from everywhere and the only reason you want one is to play games.", Owen pointed out. "Am I wrong?"
"A little. I would play games and get social media accounts.", Layla informed him, a little too honest for her own good. "I don't feel too young though.", she repeated her former reason to try to talk her father into it.
"Nope. Let's read that book of yours. That is a much better thing to do than being on social media.", he compared and successfully changed the topic. Before he totally got into reading with his daughter, he checked on Lucas once more, but the boy was still sleeping peacefully.
