"So, what are we going to play?", Megan asked everyone after bringing Farouk to bed and being the last one to join the group in the living room. "And why is my kid the one that is less tired than everybody else?"
"Because you make up for it, Honey.", Nathan joked. He was sitting next to Evelyn and Andrew on the couch, talking to them, Tom, and Meredith while the others had been waiting for the redhead at the table.
"We are playing gimmick.", Owen informed his sister, who took a seat next to him. "Your favorite game.", he winked at her, teasing her because he knew that Megan hated games that were based on chance and not on talent or tactics.
"Okay, who chose this?", the trauma surgeon questioned unamused and noticed Maggie's guilty face. "You did Mags, didn't you?", she wanted to know, causing her counterpart to shrug and grin. "Fine, let's play."
"Why are you even playing? Thought you hated games...", Andrew meddled, addressing Owen. The redhead confirmed this but remained in his seat at the table. "Then, why are you playing again?", he repeated.
"Because when it's Christmas, he doesn't have a choice.", Amelia answered on her husband's behalf. "This is my favorite holiday, and he does not get to stay away from all the fun when it's Christmas time. Also, he just pretends he hates games but actually doesn't mind them that much.", she informed her friend.
"As long as my wife is at the table, you won't hear me complain.", the redhead agreed, causing everyone to reply with Aw. "Easter is the same by the way...basically every holiday.", he shared.
"I trained you well.", the neurosurgeon smirked at him before she playfully bit her lower lip as she stared into his eyes. "And you, too.", she told the husky, who was napping under her chair between her legs.
"Okay, can we start now? Enough with the flirting.", Teddy whined, and Derek agreed by nodding. They both wanted to finally play and win, considering they were really ambitious people. "Everyone rolls the dice once and the person with the highest number gets to start.", she decided on a fair beginning.
"I hope you can talk meanwhile, since the restaurant texted us.", Tom noticed about three minutes later once he checked his phone. "They want to know what exactly we want to order, referring to meat, vegetables and side dishes.", he announced. "We are gonna think about the main stuff, but you guys should listen in case you have something else you want us to order."
"Alrighty, let's see.", Meredith started and grabbed one of Zola's writing pads, so they could make a list. "We had agreed on brat- and currywurst, goose, duck, chicken, fish, pork and beef for the meaty stuff.", she remembered, and the other four nodded.
"Then for the side dishes, we wanted lots of fries for the kids, potatoes, croquettes, rice, noodles and dark bread as well as toast and some special breakfast rolls.", Evelyn added for the blonde to write down.
"And vegetables appear to be a somewhat more complicated matter. What's typical for Germany, Teddy?", Nathan asked his friend. "I think carrots for the children are a must.", he figured. "And maybe beans? Farouk and Layla like them."
"Sounds good! Typical German vegetables for Christmas...", Teddy thought out loud. "First, you'll have to add dumplings for the side dishes because those are pretty German. And again, for the vegetables...red cabbage is rather popular, so is sauerkraut. Maybe we could also order a simple mix of several veggies like broccoli, cauliflower and so on."
"Okay, sounds good, Babe.", Tom responded. "I'll tell them to bring sauces they think fit the dishes and we already picked out some appetizers and desserts.", he said, typing all the words that Meredith had written on the pad into his phone. "I am pretty sure that this is going to be enough for both days, but let's see. Tomorrow you wanted us to prepare potato salad with sausages, right Teddy?"
"Yep. And Fondue. Both are things the Germans eat on Christmas Eve, since their Santa is already coming in the afternoon or evening while ours arrives during the night.", the cardio surgeon shared. "I hope the kids like the food.", she chuckled, thinking about her rather picky baby. Her son was totally different, he loved trying new dishes.
"Perfect, and since the shops are still open tomorrow morning, we're gonna buy some more drinks and snacks and stuff.", Derek let everyone know. "I think this is going to be a special Christmas for all of us."
"Woof!", Eleanor woke up from her nap upon hearing the word "snacks". As the well-behaved girl she was, she sat down next to her mama's chair and wiggled her tail, waiting for her mother to give a snack to her and to make sure she would get another toy.
"What other kinds of plushies were there?", Amelia asked her husband, who looked at her like she was the crazy one now. "Yes, I know I kinda judged you when you bought her the bratwurst but answer the question."
"A dumpling with a cute face.", Owen replied. "Maybe Santa will get it for her.", he agreed and chuckled. "But that is the last toy she's gonna get on this trip, okay?", he wanted his wife to confirm in front of everybody.
"Don't look at me, you bought the first one.", the brunette laughed. "El, go to Grandma, she has one or two snacks for you.", she winked at her doggo. "And I got us a deal with your Daddy.", she smiled.
