"Are we going to take these?", Owen asked his fiancé, when she joined him in the bedroom a little after 12am. He had already opened the first door of the advent calendar she had made for him and was now holding three pregnancy tests, smiling widely.

"Well, I haven't taken one for a whole month and I know you want to know if us trying is working or not, so do I. So, I figured you might like this idea for your first advent calendar door and maybe we find out that we are having a baby.", Amelia explained softly and shrugged.

"I would love to!", the redhead confirmed, following her into the bathroom and unwrapping the tests to let her take them. "But once again, no matter what they say, we are good, babe. Perfect even.", he promised sweetly.

"I thought our kids were nosy by the way but then again, why am I not surprised by you opening your calendar like five minutes into the day.", the neurosurgeon chuckled, anxiously waiting for the results, and trying to distract herself from the idea of not being pregnant once again.

"Can you blame me? You have worked on this for a month. And Layla begged me to open hers already when I brought her to bed yesterday. But I stayed strong and didn't.", her fiancé informed her and kissed her forehead. "God, I am so in love with you."

"Owen...", the brunette interrupted his flirting as she stared at the three plastic sticks that were laying on the sink. Her mouth was open, and she was at a loss for words. "I...I'm pregnant.", she whispered, her voice breaking when she teared up and covered her mouth.

"Oh my God!", the trauma surgeon cheered, quietly at first. "OH MY GOD!", he repeated louder and lifted his fiancé up to spin her around as they happily giggled and then passionately kissed. "Are you okay?", he gently asked about three minutes later, in which the couple had silently hugged.

"Yeah.", Amelia mumbled. "Just...a little scared of losing it again.", she shared her concerns with him. "But Evelyn said I am not supposed to think about that, and she is right. Let's just be freaking happy for a moment because we have wanted this for months."

"Exactly honey, this is good news. Because we are finally going to have our little baby.", Owen beamed, kissing her temple multiple times as he basically squeezed her in his arms. "Do you want a boy or a girl?"

"Hm...", the neurosurgeon started to think about it as she pulled him back into their bedroom, so they could snuggle in bed, where Eleanor, now almost full-grown, was resting on the end of it. "That's hard. Leo is my baby boy...so maybe a girl. But then again, if we have another Layla, we need to prepare ourselves.", she joked, referring to their daughter's sassy nature. "You?"

"Girl.", her fiancé was pretty sure in his decision before he changed it again. "Or boy.", he mused. "Both?", he suggested a compromise, which made her laugh. "Okay, not both. Well, I can't choose.", he realized.

"Can we get an ultrasound asap?", the brunette's worried side took over again. "To make sure everything's fine with the baby and to find out how far I am along?", she begged insecurely.

"Definitely.", the redhead agreed, embracing his fiancé tightly to signal her he was there for her every step of the way. He didn't want to keep telling her to stop being scared, because that obviously wasn't happening and the miscarriage had been traumatic for her, meaning downplaying it wasn't the right way to handle this.

"Are you the birthday boy?", Amelia asked Leo, who had just woken up and cried for his parents to get him. "Because I think you are.", she told her son as she lifted him out of his crib. "Two years old already.", she informed him.

"Weo!", the tiny blonde happily grinned and clapped his hands before he tiredly rubbed his face against his mother's neck as he hid it against her. His small hands were grabbing her sweater.

"Yes, my little Leo is the birthday boy!", his mother repeated, opened the window for fresh air to fill his room before she took him downstairs with her, where everybody else was waiting. Evelyn was here too.

"Happy birthday to you!", the family started singing. "Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday, dear Leo. Happy birthday to you!", they started off the boy's second birthday and then it was time for some cake. Since it was a school day, they would celebrate some more in the afternoon and since Leo was too young to really understand what it meant to have a birthday, that would be enough.

"Happy birthday, angel!", Owen lifted his son out of his fiancé's arms to get some cuddle time with him as well. He even let him sit in his lap for breakfast, so they could share a piece of cake.

Since she had missed his first birthday, Amelia had insisted on being the first person to see Leo on this one and of course, the trauma surgeon had agreed to that because how could he not?

He knew that by now she was okay with the fact that she had missed a whole year of her children's lives, but there were several moments and occasions which reminded her of it and made her vulnerable, understandably so. Meaning, he had no intention of making it worse but was trying his best to make it better by granting her such small natural wishes.
