"What do you mean you're gonna move into a house with Tom on Sunday?!", Owen yelled at Teddy. "I want my baby to live with me and my family!", he explained angrily, not even ready to consider that his will wouldn't be granted this time.
"This might not even be your baby, Owen!", Teddy argued back. "And has it ever occurred to you that even though I love you, Amelia, and the kids very much, I don't want to stay your guys' sidekick forever?!"
"Why are they fighting, mom?", Logan wondered. He was snuggled into his mother, who had brought him to bed to say good night. The boy liked it a lot when his parents spend some time of their evenings to cuddle with him for a while since he knew his younger siblings needed more attention during the days but loved his mom- or dad-time too.
"They're best friends. That's what they do. Like you fought with Julie three weeks ago.", Amelia answered and shrugged. "It's normal.", she said, caressing his head as she continued listening to the friends shouting at one another. She was glad that Leo and Layla were deep sleepers.
"Oh, come on! How many times have we slept together before we stopped? The chance of this baby not being mine is so low because when you fucked Tom the day Amelia came back, it was only one night compared to all the nights we had together.", the redhead pointed out. "And I want you and the baby here! Stop your weird sidekick explanation."
"I think they were actually in love before you came back and that dad isn't fighting with Auntie Teddy entirely because of the baby.", the eleven-year-old mumbled as he finally fell asleep, not aware of how insecure that thought would make his mother.
"Good night, I love you.", the brunette told her sleeping son, making sure that the blanket was fully covering him as she kissed his forehead. When she had left the room, she glanced into the living room, where the friends were still fighting with each other. She sighed, grabbed her jacket, and went outside to take a walk and get some fresh air.
"Where the fuck were you?!", Owen questioned once she came back an hour later. His eyes were red, there were tears on his cheeks, his breathing was erratic, and he was holding her phone in his shaking hands. "You scared me to death!", his voice broke.
"I was just taking a walk...", his girlfriend quietly defended herself, feeling her heart break as she looked at his worried face. "You were so busy yelling at Teddy, I just didn't think you'd care or even notice I was gone.", she innocently informed him, causing him to pull her into the bedroom and close the door.
"Not notice that you were gone?! Woman, you have a habit of getting kidnapped and disappearing and you think I don't notice you leaving?!", the trauma surgeon repeated her words in disbelief. "And as if that weren't enough, you don't take your phone?", he sobbed. That evening had taken its toll on him. "Wow.", he commented. "How could you be so reckless? How could you do this to me?"
"Babe, I'm sorry.", Amelia apologized, feeling bad now. Her boyfriend tried to stabilize himself by taking a seat on the edge of the bed. "I didn't know you were still so sensitive when it comes to me leaving the house."
"I almost called 911.", the redhead stated, partly mad, but rather at Teddy than at Amelia, and partly sad and worried. "You cannot do that. You can't just leave this house without your phone and when it's dark. Especially not without telling me. Why did you do it? You never go on walks by yourself."
"Because you were fighting with Teddy about something that has been inevitable since the beginning, and I figured all of us were on the same page with her moving out at some point. But you seem to have lingering feelings for your best friend and that is why you want to keep her here. Otherwise, you wouldn't argue about it.", the neurosurgeon shared her concerns.
"I don't. I don't have feelings for Teddy, I just want my baby to grow up under my watch. You know I dislike Tom.", Owen replied. "I wouldn't have had a breakdown if the woman I am in love with didn't just leave to go on a walk. But I did. Because you were gone...again...and I cannot lose you anymore. Any second I don't know where you are, I can't breathe. And this makes me another James."
"No, it doesn't. I have no idea why you had to change the topic again, but this appears to be more important to you right now.", his girlfriend realized. "You are not another James!", she firmly contradicted, climbing into his lap to wrap her arms around his neck as she straddled him. "You are worried. He wanted control. That is not the same thing."
"The topic was done. I told you that you don't have to be concerned because you're the only woman I want.", the trauma surgeon repeated, slowly calming down. He cupped her cheeks with his hands and leaned his forehead against hers. "I truly was so worried, I thought I'd faint."
"I'll never do it again, Owen. I promise!", the brunette said, connecting their lips in a sweet kiss. "You are everything to me.", she added, causing him to passionately kiss her again, his arms wrapping around her back and pulling her even closer.
