"Almost done with out Trick or Treat round.", Owen grinned at his fiancé, who was holding Eleanor's leash. Derek was walking with Bailey, Meredith held Leo, who had been dressed as his sister's dragon egg, so he was basically just a fancy and cute little egg, and Layla was walking with Nathan.
Maggie carried Ellis and Megan was working today, since Halloween wasn't always just fun but also a cause for so many accidents, so the cardio surgeon and their son had joined their friends, too. Zola, Logan, and Farouk were leading the group together.
"Look at her, she's like 'I deserve a treat and nobody else does!'.", Amelia laughed, when Eleanor glanced up at them after hearing her third favorite word, the most loved ones being sleep and cuddles. "I have a bag full of treats just for you, my love. Can you sit for me?", she wondered. "Good girl! Here you go. Gently!"
"I for one cannot wait to treat you either once the kids are in bed.", the redhead flirted with her, causing her to blush and bite her lower lip. "But first we will have dinner.", he chuckled and started laughing when Derek turned around and gazed at them, unamused.
"You two are officially disgusting.", the brunette informed them and rolled his eyes before he turned back around to focus on the road ahead of them, which made his little sister giggle.
Later that evening when the children were in bed at home, an hour later than usually but still rather early since tomorrow was Monday, the trauma surgeon waited for his fiancé in bed, ready to do what he had promised her.
"Let's take a pregnancy test.", she suggested once she came in there after bringing the kids to bed, catching him off guard completely. "I...I am not sure if I am pregnant, but I might be and I want to know for sure.", she added.
"Alright, let's do that.", Owen smiled softly and gently touched her back to guide her into the ensuite, where he took two tests out of the cupboard and handed them to her. Just for a small moment, the neurosurgeon threw him an unsure glance that almost looked like she was afraid of his reaction, and he hated himself for it. "No matter what this test says, we're good. I love you and I am not going to judge you!", he promised.
"Okay.", Amelia mumbled. She had moved on to being scared of judging herself if she wasn't pregnant. They were sitting on the edge of the tub, waiting for two stripes to appear on the weird-looking plastic stick. "Not pregnant.", she sighed.
"Hey, it's okay, honey.", her fiancé tried to cheer her up. "Neither did you do anything wrong nor is something wrong with your body.", he said, noticing the pain and self-doubt in her eyes. "I know you want this very badly, but it takes time."
"Didn't take time for Teddy or Megan or Meredith.", the brunette reminded him and sniffled. "Just takes time for me. Meg and Nate weren't even trying and then he tells us that she's pregnant?! I am happy for them, I am. But...I just hate myself."
"Babe, don't compare yourself to other people. This is not healthy and makes everything worse. You've had such a good day, let's not have it end on such a sad note.", the redhead requested softly. "Hey, Miss Ellie!", he greeted the husky, who walked into the room to be with her owners. "Mommy is sad. Yeah, she is. What can we do about it?"
"Stop it, the puppy doesn't have to know that I am sad.", his fiancé pouted and crossed her arms in front of her chest, watching him pick up the dog and continue talking to her.
"Oh, does the puppy have to know that mommy's not just sad but also grumpy then?", the trauma surgeon kept challenging in his higher more childish voice in which he often spoke to both, Leo, and Eleanor. "Yes, she does!", he grinned when Ella stood up on her legs to touch her mother's chest with her front paws, so she could lick her yaw and chin.
"El!", the neurosurgeon started laughing. "That tickles and your tongue is super wet!", she let the dog know and took her from Owen to hold her in her own arms. "I love you, too!", she said, kissing her head.
"We will try again whenever you feel like it.", he decided to end the former topic on a good note and waited for her to make eye contact and nod. "For now, we have this baby to deal with. And as soon as we potty-trained her, it's time for Mister Leo to stop wearing diapers and go potty."
"But he is only almost two, babe!", Amelia argued, very aware of that age being perfect for potty training. She hadn't started any later with Logan either, but her youngest son was her little baby. "I also don't want to have to clean up pee each day."
"So, you'd rather have him continue to grace us with any bodily fluids as he fights getting his dirty diaper changed? Note taken. You can keep going.", Owen allowed and laughed at her disgusted facial expression.
"Yeah, you're right. Something needs to change.", his fiancé agreed. "I just don't want him to grow up that fast. I missed a whole year of their lives, and I am never going to get it back.", she shrugged. "But you are totally right, and I shouldn't want my son to not be potty-trained because of my personal feelings."
