"Okay, here are the chips and gummy bears and we are all set.", Amelia announced after putting the snacks onto the coffee table. She and Owen had finally agreed to watching the Harry Potter movies with Logan and Layla, one movie each Friday from now on.
Leo had his special night on Saturdays, so this just seemed fair especially since he and the twins were way too young to stay up that late, even if it was the weekend, and for those movies.
"You comfortable over there, buddy?", Owen asked his son, who was occupying the other couch all by himself. Suddenly Eleanor joined him, meaning he wasn't entirely alone anymore, although he had chosen the sofa and wouldn't have minded taking up the whole space. The husky couldn't allow this and made herself comfortable by snuggling into the boy.
"I was and I guess the softie on top of me makes sure that I stay that way.", Logan replied, grabbing one of the chips bowls to snack on it. Layla was sitting in her father's lap, excitedly staring at the screen, and snacking on the other chips bowl. Her mother took a seat next to them and kissed her cheek, making the girl beam.
"Which house would I get into, mommy?", the seven-year-old wondered. Her brother had been a fan of the books for a while but had waited with watching the movies until she was old enough, therefore he had told her a lot about it.
"Why are you asking me?", the brunette chuckled. "You're the hardest one to sort into a house. Your brother and dad are most likely Hufflepuffs but you...you could be Ravenclaw, Slytherin and Gryffindor all at once.", she shrugged.
"I'd say you've got that one right.", the thirteen-year-old meddled, referring to his father and him belonging in Hufflepuff. "And I do think, although you have some Slytherin tendencies Layls, you are better off in Gryffindor. Basically, like Harry, which you will see in the first movie. Mom, you are probably a Ravenclaw, even though you have Slytherin tendencies as well."
"Gee, thanks.", the neurosurgeon smirked and shook her head, nudging her husband's right arm when she noticed him grin at that, causing him to smile at her and wrap it around her shoulder, badly wanting to kiss his wife but still keeping his distance.
"But don't you think mommy could also be a Gryffindor? She's the bravest person I know.", Layla pointed out, holding her chin in her hand as she thought about it. "We are both the same person, just I am a little tinier."
"Guys, the movie is very long. How about we figure this out tomorrow and start watching, huh?", Owen softly meddled. "Ella is a Hufflepuff too by the way, just so this is settled.", he winked at his kids, who nodded in agreement, before he started the film.
The redhead was hoping for Amelia to cuddle into him or even choose to kiss him. He was still sleeping downstairs, but she hadn't denied him to touch her, so he was also hoping for her to allow him to come to bed with her, but he currently truly couldn't read his wife.

"Look at them. Lucas loves to be read to.", Owen sighed in awe as he watched Amelia read to the babies on a blanket in the grass, while the other three kids and Eleanor were playing outside. "Is he smiling?", he wondered from his spot at the dining table.
"He is.", Evelyn's face lit up upon seeing the boy enjoy himself and the story he was listening to in his mother's arms. "So, how's it going with you and Amelia?", she curiously questioned as she prepared lunch for the family.
"She signed the divorce papers.", the redhead shared sadly, looking at his hands in defeat. "Then I signed them because she didn't want to be with me anymore and then we didn't go to the lawyer. She doesn't really touch me, but also doesn't refuse to be touched by me. It's complicated, mom. At least she allowed me to spend tonight with her and Leo, so we don't confuse him."
"Well, can you blame her, darling?", his mother asked him softly. "You broke her heart, but she still loves you. She's confused about all this, too. She even came to me to ask if I still wanted to talk to her even if she decided to divorce you."
"And what did you say?", the trauma surgeon wanted to know, not sure which answer he was actually expecting. "I am trying to give her as much time as she needs but I also miss her so much. It's like we are in the same room but on different pages and I just can't grasp her."
"That's because this is a very good description of what's going on between you two.", the grey-haired woman pointed out. "I told her she would always have my support, of course. She didn't do anything wrong and if your father had done to me what you did to her and the kids, I wouldn't have wanted to stay with him either."
"Great, thanks.", Owen responded, offended. "I know you are my mother but please stop with the blame. I have understood it by now, everyone is mad at me. Do you think she would wanna go on a dinner-date with me?"
"Ask her and Amelia will tell you. I am not going to try to make any hypothetical decisions for her. If she says no, take that answer seriously and continue thinking about how you can fix what you have broken by leaving her.", his mom advised. "Now maybe try to sit with them or play with the children, they missed you too. Lucas needs his space, but he will only warm up to you if you're around."
"Alright. I guess I'll try then.", her son decided on asking his wife out on a date. He joined her and the twins on the blanket and felt tears fill his eyes when his youngest boy glanced at him and then pointed at the page they were currently looking at for him to feel included. His eyes met Amelia's after, and she was smiling at him because she had noticed it too.
