"Killian is such a nice boy.", Owen smiled at his friends. Lucas was silently snuggling with him, resting his head on his shoulder. Luna, Daniel, and Fiona were playing in the playpen while Leo was busy selling Megan stuff from his tiny supermarket.
The four older kids played together upstairs. And the adults were sitting on the couches in the living room, talking. Ellie hadn't forgiven her owners for putting her into the cone just yet, meaning she rested her head in Teddy's lap and let her pet her.
"He is. I mean, he's been with us for three months now but it's still hard to wrap my mind around it. Finding out you have a long-lost kid...it's so crazy and still so beautiful when you finally get to meet them.", Tom explained. "I see you two are back on track after all."
"Took us a while.", Amelia admitted in all honesty. "But I'm glad we could figure this out.", she added and kissed her husband's cheek, while he put his hand on her thigh and smiled at her, still holding his baby in his other arm.
"Seeing you with Lucas is such a relief, too.", Nathan pointed out to his best friend and proudly beamed at him and the boy. "He's had a rough time without you.", he reminded the redhead, who nodded guiltily before he kissed his son's head.
"I'm glad he could forgive me so fast.", the trauma surgeon shared softly. "So, Teddy, you wanted to talk to us about some plan of yours?", he remembered the text message the blonde had sent into their group chat earlier.
"Oh yeah, well, Tom and I figured we would spend Christmas in Germany. And I don't know if you remember but we once had the plan of going on vacation there, so I was wondering if you guys would like to join us?", the cardio surgeon questioned.
"Why would we go to Germany in winter? It's so cold there.", Megan whined and made everyone laugh. "Can't we go somewhere warm?", she wanted to know. "Thank you, Leo. I'll be back for another shopping trip in a minute. Gotta bring the groceries to your uncle, so he can put them into the fridge."
"Okay, to be fair. It's pretty cold.", Teddy agreed. "But it's also extremely beautiful.", she tried to get her friend to say yes. "Are you two up for it?", she asked her best friend's brother and his wife, who were looking at each other.
"I mean...why not...but can Evelyn, Derek, Mer, Maggie, and the kids come with us?", Amelia wondered. "It's weird to imagine Christmas without my brother.", she said. "I know those are a lot of people, though."
"Sure thing.", Tom shrugged, not seeing any problem with that. "We could just book a huge holiday mansion and I think it would work.", he figured, causing his girlfriend to agree and nod.
"Were you all there when mommy gave birth to me?", Leo decided to ask the very pressing question he had, not understanding why everyone went silent for a second and looked at his parents.
"No, sweetie.", Nathan began. "Because that's a rather private and stressful thing. But we met you when you were a baby.", he replied, cleverly answering the boy's question without lying. "Didn't you wanna show us your new stuffed animal?", he wondered, causing the toddler to nod and go upstairs to get it.
"Are you nuts?", his wife meddled. "What did you guys tell him? Why does he think you gave birth to him?", she questioned after checking the stairs to make sure her nephew was really gone for the moment.
"He asked us about Killian this morning and Logan compared him to himself with Owen, so Leo wanted to know if he is our biological child and I just panicked.", the female neurosurgeon shared ashamed.
"He didn't want to know it, he was rather sure of it.", her husband corrected. "And it would've confused him and broken his heart if we had said anything else. We are just hoping for him to forget the conversation, which he most likely will. Great answer by the way, Nate."
"Here's Mr. Froggy.", the three-year-old excitedly exclaimed once he walked back down the stairs. "But his mama did not give birth to him like my mommy to me.", he informed everyone, causing Amelia to sigh, but just loud enough for her friends to hear. "I am his mama now, basically. Or his dada. Pwobably his daddy.", he figured. "Ellie is a dog but for her, we are her children too."
"Woof!", Eleanor agreed, before she continued to enjoy all the pets she was getting. The cone of doom was still resting around her head though and she really hated that. "Woof!", she addressed her owner and pawed her leg multiple times.
"Hey!", the brunette complained and stared at the dog in shock. "Don't paw me, ma'am!", she ordered. "I know I said I'd take it off, but I swear, once you even think about touching your face, I will put it back on.", she warned.
"Guys, do we really have to go to Germany?", her sister-in-law decided to have the conversation from earlier again, hoping to talk everybody into going on vacation in a warmer country. "I mean, they even have snow in April...it's weird and cold and imagine having sun and nice weather in March, just to be surprised with disgusting weather in April again."
"Doesn't concern us at all, Meg.", her brother interfered. "Because we're gonna be there in December and it might not be snowy but also not too cold, I mean it's not Finland. Teddy has lived there for years and she's sitting here with us, so it can't be that bad."
"Ugh.", his sister finally gave up. "Fine. But if the weather is muddy and stuff, don't come crying to me you guys. Now come show me Mr. Froggy, Leo.", she smiled at the mini blonde, who let her lift him into her lap.
