"Oh, thank God, I'm super hungry!", Amelia announced once James walked down the stairs. She didn't know what time it was but felt like it had to be the evening. "Wait, you didn't bring any food, are you going to let me starve now?"

"I got the results.", the brunette announced as he walked towards the cage. "Dinner is waiting for us upstairs.", he informed her, which was his way of saying that she had actually told him the truth.

"I told you I love you!", his girlfriend sighed in relief as she watched him open the glass door for her. "I would never cheat on you, babe!", she repeated herself as she threw herself into his arms to cup his cheeks and kiss him passionately.

"I love you too, Amy.", the trauma surgeon replied, giving her another kiss as he secretly grabbed handcuffs off the small wooden table next to him and put them around her wrists. "Which is why I still have to be careful."

"Does the upgrade include a real bed and toilet?", the neurosurgeon questioned, staring deeply into his eyes, and watching him nod. "Then it's fine. We'll be okay as long as we have each other.", she smiled at him. They had been a couple for three years, there had to be a good explanation for his behavior, and she chose to give him the benefit of a doubt. "Can we eat now, please?"

"Yes, let's go.", James agreed softly, really glad to have been proven wrong. When they arrived upstairs, he guided his girlfriend through a living room that was the center of the house. There was also a kitchen, a bathroom, a bedroom, and another room, in which a bed was standing, Amelia's room.

Beside the bed, that was actually pretty big, probably for whenever her boyfriend decided to join her during the night, there was an actual toilet, some books on the floor for her to read and even a TV installed at the ceiling.

"This is just for your own safety, love.", he announced as he connected her handcuffs to a metal chain that was coming from the wall but was long enough that she wouldn't be in pain. "Let me get dinner, so I can feed you. I was really sad about you being so mad this morning. I hope you will appreciate dinner more than breakfast.", he shared when he came back.

"I'm sorry!", Amelia apologized. "I didn't mean to but for a moment I thought you'd never let me out of there. I understand why you did it though.", she lied, receiving a soft kiss to her lips.

"It's already forgiven. I made pasta for us.", her boyfriend let her know as he sat down next to her on the bed. "Your favorite sauce, favorite cheese, cooked by your favorite man.", he flirted, winking at her, and making her chuckle. "Here you go.", he said, filling the spoon before he started to feed her.

"Tastes amazing!", the brunette beamed at him. She had a really pressing question about the whereabouts of their son but didn't feel like reminding the trauma surgeon of his existence, knowing he was smart enough to find someone to take care of him. As long as he was here, he couldn't kidnap Logan too, so Amelia decided to just let it go.

"Glad to hear that.", James grinned proudly, taking a spoon himself. "I am not so happy about the toilet being that close to the bed but it's a normal one, so you can flush after using it and therefore it should be fine. I can't take the handcuffs off you.", he explained.

"So, you are going to sleep elsewhere?", his girlfriend wanted to know since it sounded like it. "You won't snuggle with me tonight?", she wondered, actually kind of disappointed, since she loved him after all.

"Oh no honey, don't worry! I will. If that's what you want because I totally want to. I just wanted to give you some time and space to settle into your new room.", the brunette answered, stroking her cheek with his thumb. "You said you were super hungry, so I'll get us more food."

"Why don't you have any kids, Owen?", Logan asked as they watched a cartoon together after dinner before bedtime. The redhead had brought him to school this morning after he had prepared breakfast, he had picked him up, made lunch, had been with him as he talked to the cops, helped him with his homework, cooked dinner for them. He had taken care of him all day.

"My relationships never worked out.", the trauma surgeon shrugged, surprised by the question. "My ex-wife didn't want kids and well, it took me a long time to get over her.", he shared. "Why do you ask?"

"Because you could have just left me with Aunt Mer and Uncle Derek, but you insisted on taking care of me until my mom is back. And you're really good at it. So, I was just curious.", the ten-year-old explained sweetly. "I always wanted a sibling until my dad died. But since my mom got together with James, I am glad to be an only child because that would be one hell of a kid."

"Your humor is so dark sometimes.", Owen pointed out as he chuckled, causing the boy to giggle. "Well, you're probably right though. I like taking care of you. You're fun to be around, buddy.", he smiled at the boy, who again snuggled into him.

"You are, too.", the young brunette replied. "I really hope he just took her for a vacation or something.", he sighed, missing his mother like crazy. "Thank you for having me here until she's finally back home."

"You're very welcome, Logan.", the redhead answered softly. "And I hope so, too. But whatever he does, he won't hurt her because all he wants is to have her to himself. He loves her too much to be able to live without her.", he reassured the child.
