"I'll be in the study if you need something.", Teddy told Amelia and her therapist after setting them up with a cup of tea each. She gently touched her friend's shoulder and stroked it before she left the living room to give them some privacy and started working in the study aka Leo's room.

"Alright Amelia, I want us to start with a brief overview of your life in Seattle. Don't go into detail too much but name everything you think is important for me to get the whole picture.", Dr. Brato ordered softly.

"I moved here about one and a half years ago with my ex-boyfriend James and my son Logan. He's my dead fiancé's flesh and blood but James tried to be his father. Anyway, uhm...both of us started working at Grey-Sloan, where I met Owen, my boss. Derek, my brother, wasn't fond of my relationship and kept fighting with me about it, just as Logan did. James was obsessive and well, jealous. So, when I insulted Owen at work because he, my brother, and my brother's wife Meredith had tried to talk me out of my relationship again, and he made me do paperwork in his office, my ex got the wrong picture and kidnapped me.", the brunette shared. It was nice to tell somebody the whole story without being pitied.

"Okay, continue and don't be confused by me taking notes. I am just writing down the different stages of your life here, so I can make a plan for our future sessions later.", the therapist explained softly. "You're doing great. Let's keep that level of information and not go into detail yet.", she reminded her client.

"I'll just skip the kidnapping then.", Amelia decided. "I was rescued and able to reunite with my son, who Owen had taken care of. My brother and his family left for vacation the next day I believe, meaning he had told my boss to look after me. And he did. He got a call that evening, and the day after, we pretended to be a couple and he was fostering two small kids, Leo and Layla."

"So, three children are currently living here with you guys, right?", the brunette questioned and took notes when her counterpart confirmed it with a nod. "Good, go on please.", she smiled.

"I was kind of lonely because of James and since Owen and I had to share the bedroom from now on since we wouldn't have had enough space for everyone otherwise, I asked him to have sex with me. We called ourselves friends with double benefits from then on, meaning the sex and the kids.", the neurosurgeon explained. "One thing led to another, I became his foster children's mom and Logan wanted him to be his dad. My ex killed himself in prison, I was both, broken and relieved. I've had an abortion. Owen and I were slowly falling in love, then Teddy showed up. She's his best friend and he told her that he wanted me. James' parents came here to pick up his stuff, then they shot me twice. Layla had to call 911. I was going to physical therapy and things with Owen had progressed to the point where I was almost ready to be with him and they kidnapped me for a whole year. I got to eat nothing but bread, one slice for three days. In the meantime, Owen thought I was dead and started sleeping with Teddy, who became my baby's mother figure because she was there the whole year, and he most likely impregnated her about a day before I was rescued. We have yet to find out since she hadn't had an ultrasound as of now. I came home, was a stranger to my youngest son, got together with Owen. He proposed to me once we found out about Teddy's pregnancy, because he was worried we'd stop trying for our own baby. I got pregnant, went back to work, and got triggered so hard, I lost our child. Now, we're here."

"That is...", Dr. Brato carefully started. "A whole lot to unpack.", she stated. "I think we'll start at the beginning, and I don't just mean the two of us, I am also talking about your relationship with your fiancé, Amelia. I can see how much you love Owen, but also, this is not going to work out."

"What do you mean?", the brunette wondered confused. "It worked out, we are about to get married.", she reminded her therapist slowly, not understanding what she meant.

"You guys rushed through everything. You were freshly broken up and traumatized when he moved in with you with the kids. You went from nothing to being parents of three together. Again, you got traumatized and suddenly you want to be with him. You got kidnapped for the second time, then rescued, and a few days later you want to have his baby and you got engaged to him. There's been so many things that went wrong in your life that you are currently trying to idolize it because you think this will be the thing that fixes you, but it won't.", Dr. Brato concluded. "You barely know each other, which isn't a good foundation for marriage. You clearly love Owen, but that is not enough. If I asked you to name his five favorite foods and drinks, hobbies, colors, and vacation destinations, you wouldn't be able to answer me. Try it."

"He loves avocado, orange juice, lasagna, meat...", Amelia began and cursed herself for proving the other woman right and chose to move on. "His hobbies are reading, cooking, he enjoys World War 2 movies. Blue and orange are his favorite colors along with green...and I have literally no clue where he'd go for vacation.", she admitted in defeat.

"See?", the therapist sympathized. "There's so much more work to do.", she repeated when they heard Owen come home and glance into the room to greet them. "Hello, Dr. Hunt! Would you like to join us? There's something Amelia needs to tell you."

"Hey! Sure, but just call me Owen.", the redhead offered, a little confused about what his fiancé would tell him after having had only one therapy session yet. "Hi, honey!", he greeted her and pecked her lips quickly, noticing how she fiddled with her engagement ring.

"Hi...", the neurosurgeon mumbled before she had gathered the strength to look him in the eye. "We need to go back to square one, babe. Our relationship doesn't have a foundation, it's not stable and it doesn't even make much sense. I barely know you and you barely know me. I jumped into things because it helped me forget all the horrible stuff that has happened to me. And you deserve better. I still love you; I still want you and I still want us. I also still want to have a baby with you but when I asked you about it, I only did so to show off how perfect we are even after I was hurt multiple times. And currently, we are not. I am not okay. I am not stable. And I am not your fiancé anymore.", she informed him sadly, taking off the ring to hand it back to him.

"Are you breaking up with me?", the trauma surgeon questioned in disbelief. His heartbeat increased upon waiting for an answer and he exhaled in relief when she shook her head. "You just want to take things slow? And start over? To fix us?"

"Yeah.", his ex-fiancé confirmed. "So, are we in a relationship now or dating or nothing at all?", she asked for advice from her therapist, who told them they could be together but not act like a couple. Meaning, it was basically them being girlfriend and boyfriend and dating.

"Owen, Amelia has a long road to recovery ahead of her and she needs you. From what I've heard, her brother Derek and you are the people she trusts the most, so it would be great if you tried to support her through it, even if it might be painful sometimes.", Dr. Brato said.

"I will. I will be here.", he promised, looking at his girlfriend. "I am not going anywhere.", he added, keeping his distance since they were supposed to take it slow. "But what a rush...", he said, confusing both women. "Hi, I am Owen Hunt, Chief of Surgery at Grey-Sloan-Memorial and your new boss. I am also the father of your children but let's just ignore that for the sake of starting over. Who are you?", he wanted to know, making Amelia giggle.
