"Are you absolutely sure that this is what you want, Ms. Shepherd?", the doctor asked one last time, staring into their patient's eyes. She nodded. "There's no going back after.", they reminded her. "Still sure?" She nodded again.
"What kind of symptoms will she experience after this?", Owen decided to ask a question. "Any pain?", he wondered, protectively glancing down at his friend, who was just lying there, not saying anything.
"There might be some vaginal cramps which feel like you're getting your period. Light bleeding is a possibility. Some women experience nausea and dizziness as well. All of those symptoms are maybes, meaning you might have none at all.", the doctor replied, looking at Amelia. "No sex for a few days and don't go swimming. Use pads instead of tampons."

"Oh wow, you look like crap.", Megan told the brunette when she and her brother arrived back home. "What kind of patient was that?", she questioned, since the friends had told her and Evelyn, they would have to do some work before both of them took a leave of absence and Owen had asked Bailey to step in as Interim Chief.
"An exhausting one.", Amelia lied and walked over to her sons to kiss their heads. "Where's Layla?", she wondered, a little confused about the fact that her daughter wasn't around. While Logan was reading on the couch, the redhead played with the baby. "And your mother?"
"She's in a mood. Mom has been trying for half an hour to get her to come out of her room, but she doesn't want to. I guess it's just one of those days...toddler tantrum.", the female trauma surgeon replied.
"Okay, we'll go talk to her.", her brother decided softly, guiding the neurosurgeon to their daughter's room, where she was sitting in bed, moping around. "Sorry for this, mom! We've got it from here.", he said with a smile. "What's wrong, baby?"
"Everything!", the three-year-old informed her parents and dramatically crossed her arms in front of her chest. She didn't notice how they looked at each other and smirked at the attitude.
"Can you tell mommy the three worst things of everything that bothers you?", Amelia tried softly and sat down behind her child, where she started to play with her hair, knowing the girl loved it when someone did that and was able to relax more easily. Meanwhile, her friend took a seat in front of the kid.
"Well, for starters, auntie Megan saided that you saided that we can order lunch. And I want a pizza, but Wogan chose burgers and now that is what we will eat.", Layla complained. "But I love pizza so much more!"
"Uh, last time I checked, you loved burgers more than any other food.", Owen, always a little too confused at times when it was contra productive which made him even more goofy that he already was, answered, causing his daughter to give him a death glare. "I'm sorry. We can have pizza tomorrow then. And we are going to make our own. It's much tastier than take-out anyway. Deal?", he corrected his way of dealing with the tantrum.
"Fine!", the toddler shrugged, very dedicated to being pissed right now. "Secondly, I don't understand why it's summer and not winter.", she pointed out angrily, still wearing the mad facial expression from before.
"Your turn!", her father mouthed to his colleague, not able to find a fitting solution for that one. But Amelia looked just as lost as he felt. "Well, mama and I cannot change the season, but I know what might help my little girl.", he responded, lifting the three-year-old into his arms to give her a big hug that made her giggle.
"Friendsies, can we order lunch now? I'm starving.", Logan let his parents know when he walked into the room. He noticed their confused looks. "Auntie Megan taught me the word and I think it's fun. Layls, did you consider loving me again?", he addressed his sister.
"Onwyyyyy...", she began thinking about a condition. "If you play with me all afternoon.", the little girl said with a broad grin. When her big brother shrugged and nodded, she climbed out of her dad's arms to hug him. He knelt in front of her to give her better access.
"Glad we could work this out and...", their mother had to stop speaking because of the pain in her abdomen, immediately alarming her friend, who scooted closer to her. "It's okay, it's already over.", she whispered, leaving him guessing if she was lying or not. "And let's order some food."
"Maybe you should rest a little.", the trauma surgeon suggested softly, aware of how much she hated being pitied. At least she replied by telling him she'd do so while the smaller children were napping after lunch."
"Okay, what does everyone want? It's on me.", Megan announced once everybody was back in the living room. "Leo, you start! Ah yes, you want nothing, those are my favorites.", she joked, making the kids laugh.
"Can you order a cheeseburger for me? I'm going to feed our little bear.", Owen asked his roommate, who nodded and watched him lift the seven-month-old into his arms to take him to the kitchen with him.
