"Hey!", Owen greeted his three oldest kids and took his sweet time hugging each one of them tightly. Whenever he hadn't seen his children for longer than an hour, he missed them badly and today, when his wife was being unreasonable, he had missed them even more. "Go wash your hands and then sit down for snack time."
"Okay, Dad.", Logan smiled at his father. "What's there for us to eat?", he excitedly wondered, still the most famous glutton of the Hunt family. "Maybe cookies?", he questioned and was not disappointed after coming to the table. "Yay!"
"There's chocolate milk and tea. Who wants what?", the trauma surgeon asked his kids and filled their cups with whatever they chose. "Made you coffee.", he addressed his wife, making sure the children wouldn't notice that there was tension between their parents.
"Thank you.", Amelia replied and grabbed one of the cookies as well. "Here you go, Honey.", she told Eleanor, who had decided to sit down next to her mama to ask for some food and was handed a piece of apple. "You know that your ancestors were predators eating meat, yeah?", she chuckled.
"I think Ella is as much of a glutton as Logan, but dressed as a husky.", Layla meddled, giggling once she heard her brother complain about her making fun of him. "It's true.", she pointed out and shrugged.
"Obviously, but you don't have to call me out like that just because I enjoy food.", the thirteen-year-old whined before he started laughing himself. "We've met the daycare teacher of the twins when mama picked up Leo.", he shared, thinking that was an interesting information to spill.
"Well, we were in the car, and he walked towards his own. Once he had noticed mama, he waved at her and she waved back.", the mini blonde added for clarification, too busy eating that she didn't notice her dad glancing at her mom.
"He looked very friendly.", her sister wanted to say something as well. "Sadie was at her grandparents' house last weekend.", she changed the topic, wanting to tell everyone about her best friend.
"That's great, what did she do?", Owen wondered since his wife didn't seem to be in the mood to be a part of the conversation and just continued watching the twins eat, listening in, and feeding their dog some fruit pieces.
"They were playing miniature golf.", the seven-year-old continued. "And we wanted to ask if we can have a sleepover next weekend.", she shyly grinned, hoping her parents would allow it.
"Yeah, of course.", the redhead agreed. "What do you say?", he addressed Amelia, who looked at her daughter and nodded, wearing a fake smile on her face. "Have you walked El?", she asked her husband, who shook his head.
"Not yet. I can do it right now and take some of the kids.", the redhead responded. "Who has homework?", he questioned and all three of them raised their hands. "And you all wanna come with us?"
"YES!", the three children begged, worried their father would go without them just because they had to do some schoolwork before they could do whatever they were in the mood for. They knew he would stop at one of the playgrounds nearby.
"Well, it's four now. I wanna leave in half an hour, so we can be outside for a while.", the trauma surgeon explained. "Can you manage that if one of us helps you?", he negotiated with them, and they nodded. "Baby duty or homework?", he wanted to know from his wife.
"Baby duty, you can take a break from the twins.", Amelia decided and started cleaning their youngest children's faces and the table before she let them go play in the living room while her husband stayed at the table together with Logan, Leo and Layla.

"Listen, I don't wanna fight.", Owen sighed once he had brought his oldest son to bed and joined his wife, who was doing the dishes. "I just want to understand.", he admitted. "Are you still attracted to him? Please don't lie to me."
"I don't wanna fight either.", the brunette let him know, sadly shrugging her shoulders. "I don't know, Owen. I am confused and I like him a lot. Seeing him was surprising, but I can't look him in the eye without feeling my heart race ten times faster.", she finally opened up.
"That's usually how you feel when you have feelings for someone.", the redhead concluded, sounding defeated as he took another plate from her to dry. "It's been months.", he added, remembering how he watched them almost kiss in their yard in October.
"I know it is unfair to you to even imagine feeling this way for another man, but I can't influence how my body responds to other people.", the neurosurgeon pointed out, feeling ashamed and embarrassed at the same time. "None of this means that I love you any less than before."
"Yeah, okay, but knowing there's another man you like as well...and I am the person you got married to...can you just try to imagine how that makes me feel? How hurt I am? He's done basically nothing to make you like him, and I...there's so much I'm doing for you. And I don't see any of it as my duty or as a burden because I love doing stuff for you, I love loving you. But he's doing nothing, and you like him too.", her husband replied, obviously super sad.
"I know it's unfair to you.", Amelia repeated quietly. "And I am trying to get it under control because you're the only man I want to have feelings for. But you have to give me some time and please don't pressure me. Nothing is going to happen between Anton and me as long as both of us stay sane."
