"Hey there, I prepared some fruit.", Addison announced as she walked into Amelia's office at the practice, holding Leo's hand. "Leo is such a great little helper.", she informed her best friend, who proudly beamed.
"Yum!", Luna smiled, leaving the play area her mother had built for the twins once her aunt had opened it. They could play there while she worked a bit, and it wouldn't hurt anyone if she wasn't watching them every second that passed because there were a fence and a gate.
"Come on Lucas, time for a fruit break.", the brunette told her little son, who waddled out of the play area as well and grabbed her hand. They all sat down on the couch, Luna was sitting in Addison's lap and her brother ate in their mom's lap while Leo was sitting in the middle.
"Thank you, Addie.", Amelia gratefully smiled at her sister, not only referring to the snack she had prepared and brought but also to the fact that she had given Leo a chance to do something else than hang out in his mother's office all day.
"You're very welcome.", the redhead said. "I have a patient in twenty minutes, but after that, maybe we can find our husbands and take your kids to a restaurant at the beach or something for lunch.", she suggested.
"Sounds perfect.", the neurosurgeon replied and nodded. "Alrighty Guys, wave at your aunt. She'll be back later.", she informed her children, causing Lucas to climb out of her lap and off the couch, staring up at the neonatal surgeon.
"No.", he mumbled, never losing eye contact with his aunt as he pouted. "No.", he repeated, sharing his opinion on the fact that she wanted to leave. He hadn't really spoken to her before.
"Oh Honey, I have to go. But it won't take long, I will be back.", Addison promised, touched by his ambitious try of getting her to stay. As she turned to leave, the little boy grabbed his own tiny shoes, that he couldn't yet put on himself, and followed her.
"Sweetie, Auntie Addie is going to be back soon.", his mother softly pointed out while she put Luna back down in the play area before she walked over to her best friend and son. "You like her very much, huh?"
"Yeah.", Lucas answered, with his sweet innocent eyes and chubby cheeks. He held up his own shoes for one of the women to put on his feet, so he could go with his aunt, who was really flattered since she knew how long it usually took the child to adjust and open up to new people.
"Okay, I'll stay for five more minutes, but then I really have to leave your mama's office and attend to my patient.", the redhead informed the small kid, whose face lit up. He grabbed her hand and pulled her back into the room with him.
"Oh my God, that was so cute.", Amelia reflected on what had just happened and immediately texted her husband about it, not able to wait until it was time for lunch. "Leo, Honey, what would you like to have for lunch?"
"Maybe fries or pizza.", the four-year-old responded, happy that he got to decide, at least for himself, since those two dishes weren't hard to find at the beach and therefore, the adults still got to choose something else for themselves.
"So, how does Owen like working at St. Ambrose?", Addison questioned her sister, glancing at a picture book that Lucas wanted to look at with her. "I mean he has worked at Grey-Sloan for years."
"You can ask him yourself during lunch.", the brunette chuckled. "But he seems pretty happy. I mean, we haven't lived here for very long, wait until he gets his first sunburn and then we can talk about his opinion of LA again. Ginger, you know?"
"You are mean, Mommy.", her toddler giggled cutely. "Half of the family are gingers, and I am blonde, I have to use sunscreen too.", he pointed out, using his hands and arms for dramatic effect.
"Yeah, but you are one of my munchkins, I will make sure that you and all of your siblings wear sunscreen once we are outside for longer than five minutes. And even those five minutes can be super dangerous sometimes, especially if you are standing directly in the sun.", his mother explained. "Alrighty, Lucas, time to let go of Auntie Addie."
"No!", the baby sniffled and started sobbing as he watched his aunt leave the room. He was really sad that the friend he had found after all had had to go elsewhere, when he himself had to go back in the play area.
"Sweetie, don't be upset. Your aunt is going to be back very soon. She'll be gone for an hour max, but maybe it's just half an hour, and then we can have lunch together with her, Uncle Jake, and daddy.", the neurosurgeon tried to comfort the boy, kissing his head, causing him to calm down and nod.
