"Do you want me to drive for a bit?", Amelia asked her husband. They had been driving for almost three hours again and he had driven the whole way yesterday. "I think you should take a break, Babe. And also, I'm pretty sure, Ella and the kids need to go to the toilet."
"Well, a short break is probably not a bad idea.", the redhead figured and took the next exit, so they could switch seats and make sure that everybody went to the toilet. "Can we have something rather healthy for lunch today?", he addressed his children once everyone was back in the car.
"No.", Luna grinned at him. She didn't understand what her father had asked, but now that she was able to say yes and no and knew when to use these words for situations she was the boss of, she loved to say them.
"Honey, I'm pretty sure you didn't quite get my question.", Owen chuckled and slightly turned around to his three youngest kids to wink at his daughter, who giggled. "Maybe we can find a diner and you Guys can have burgers with fries or something, while mom and I eat something else.", he suggested.
"What if I want a burger and fries as well?", his wife joked. "I think that the food in a diner is at least somewhat more nutritious than what we ate yesterday at McDonald's.", she added.
"Sounds like a plan.", Layla agreed. She couldn't care less where she got her fries from as long as she got them. "Can we play a game?", she changed the topic, since she had just decided for the whole family, and nobody could voice their opinions anymore because she was the boss anyway. At least she felt like it.
"Sweetie, your siblings get to answer our question as well. It's alright that you shared your point of view, but you're not the person everything depends on.", her dad corrected her behavior softly. He liked that she was so fierce and didn't take any crap, but right now, the seven-year-old was trying to boss around her siblings and that was not okay. "After that, we can play a game. Understood?"
"Yes, Daddy.", the young brunette replied but pouted. She loved being the decision-maker. Logan and Leo were fine with the plan as well and the twins didn't know how to choose between restaurants yet.
"Good, now we can play.", the trauma surgeon announced. "Which game do you want to play?", he wanted to know. "Any ideas, Leo?", he wanted his son to be the one to choose, not always his daughter.
"Not really.", the toddler shrugged cutely. "Or wait. The one where somebody asks another person a question and they have to pick between two options.", he chose and clapped his hands in excitement for funny questions.
"Would you rather?", his big brother wondered. The four-year-old nodded and told him to start. "Alright. Dad, would you rather always have a mullet haircut or a ponytail haircut?", he questioned. Luna had fallen asleep again and Lucas was napping as well.
"That's mean.", his mother laughed, trying to guess what her husband would choose, truly not sure about it. He would look weird with both of those hairstyles. One required him to grow out his hair, the other one meant he would have to shave some of it.
"Why so rude already?", Owen whined. "Mullet haircut, I think.", he sighed, not amused that his oldest child had decided to ask him such a tricky question right away. "Layls, would you rather have to write everything you say out by hand or only be able to speak in rhymes?"
"Uh.", the little girl thought deeply about it. "I talk a lot, so chances are that my hand breaks if I write everything I want to say. But speaking in rhymes is hard...regardless, I think it would be funnier than having my hand hurt all the time.", she figured. "Mama, would you rather get your wisdom teeth pulled or your butt cheeks pierced?"
"Excuse me, what?!", Amelia chuckled, hearing her three children laugh and even her husband giggled. "Why do I get this question? I have to concentrate on the road.", she complained. "Wisdom teeth pulled, no biggie.", she finally answered. "Leo, would you rather be a seaborn creature or an airborne creature?"
"I wanna be a seahorse! Did you know that the male seahorses are the ones to carry the babies? If we were seahorses, daddy would have given birth to us.", the mini blonde excitedly shared, still not aware of the fact that he had been adopted.
"I wouldn't have minded that.", the neurosurgeon pointed out and smirked, knowing her husband was watching her reaction. "Seahorses are really cute, just like you.", she told the small child. "Now you get to ask a question."
"Logan, would you rather have five half-sized clones of yourself or one full-sized clone of yourself?", Leo asked since he would have loved to be asked that question, although he had liked his previous one very much too.
"Probably the five smaller ones, since I could do so many things at the same time. One of us could read, another one could play Pokémon, one could watch a movie, the next Logan would go outside with Eleanor and so on.", he grinned.
"Very cool!", his younger siblings informed him about how they felt. The family continued playing for a little bit, before they took another exit to have lunch at a diner, just as they had planned about an hour ago.
