What should I do? Dayu asked himself.
He had just received an email. From Liu Minzhe. Asking to meet; for one last time.
One month before the wedding, and suddenly Liu Minzhe wanted to meet?
Dayu's family back in Canada had been preparing for the wedding for the past two or three months now. They had booked the hall and the church, and they'd also been meeting with lots of florists and food suppliers.
The whole of Goderich knew about Dayu and his new man four months ago; and it was big. The news was big. Dayu was in a relationship with Wang Qing; lead singer of one of the most successful pop rock band in Asia, whose family was one of the most richest in Mainland China. Tall, perfectly built and damn good looking to boots.
And not only that they're in a relationship, they're also engaged to be married.
The town had been shocked barely a year ago with the break up of the genius child of Goderich, Dayu with his long time boyfriend and fiance for two years, the golden child of Goderich, Liu Minzhe, the son of ten mayor. And everybody knew that it was Liu Minzhe who broke the engagement, when he brought back a woman from his holiday cruise and started living together with her while still engaged to Dayu.
It was shocking and scandalous and soon, the engagement was broken off. And then, Dayu relocated to China, where he met his new beau. Dayu had brought his man back to meet his family in Goderich and they actually gotten engaged in front of Dayu's family.
And now, Dayu's getting married. For real. But what's more shocking was the fact that Liu Minzhe was still openly telling people that he had made a mistake. And that he was still trying to win Dayu back.
Which was quiet impossible really, considering that the Feng family, was completely into their new son in law to be. And that Dayu had been living with his new beau together in China for months already.
There was not one news that indicated that there is a problem in the relationship between Dayu and his fiance'. In fact, the couple had been hailed as the darling of the Asian entertainment industry.
They're not afraid to show up together in public. They were also not afraid to show some PDA in public. And their fan base just grew. Dayu's beau, was already a superstar with huge fan base but now, they have more than one fan base that supported them both. It was clear and obvious that Dayu's new beau was crazy for Dayu and he wasn't shy to share his feelings with the world.
So, everybody was just not a fan of Liu Minzhe acting like a jerk, turning a blind eye to all those things, not caring how happy Dayu looked right now; and openly criticize Dayu's new relationship whenever he could. It was as if he had forgotten that it was he who cheated. And it was he who broke off their engagement.
And more and more people were vocally telling Liu Minzhe off; advising him not to continue with the mindset he's having right now.
Dayu knew what was happening. His family didn't talk much about how Liu Minzhe was acting. They just chose to ignore him now, because their friendship with the mayor was already back on track. Dayu knew that his family were just hoping that Liu Minzhe and his mother would be able to move on soon. Because it seemed that the mayor's wife too, still harboured the same thought as her son, to have Dayu as her son in law.
Dayu got all the details of how Liu Minzhe was acting; from his best friends, Linda and Mark.
How Liu Minzhe tried to mess up Dayu's family with the United Church of Canada, where Dayu's family planned to have Dayu and Qing's union to be solemnized. How Liu Minzhe tried to mess up Dayu's family's application to get the marriage certification for Dayu and Qing's marriage. And a few more attempts at trying to ruin the wedding preparations.
Dayu knew all about those attempts. Every single one of them.
He also knew that not one of those attempts were successful. First, because Dayu's family wouldn't let anything or anybody stand in their way, hence they never stopped to strive forward with their plans even though they faced such obstacles. And second, because they had a little help from Dayu's godfather, the Mayor of Goderich, Liu Hong.
Upon learning about the attempts his son made to mess with the Feng's wedding preparations; the Mayor was quick to lend his help. And as the Mayor, his influence was undeniable. Liu Minzhe and his mother were livid when the Mayor chose not to side with them and chose to support Dayu and his new beau openly. But, the Mayor just did what he think was right.
The Mayor loved his family. But they just needed to wake up from their delusions. There's no way that Dayu could ever be with Liu Minzhe, now. Dayu is happily in love with another man. And that man loved Dayu too. Sometimes it is tiring, trying to get that fact into not only his son but also his wife's head too; but, that's the only thing he could do. He would keep on trying to knock some senses into his family's thick head and also do everything he could to help smoothed down Dayu's wedding preparations.
Mayor Liu Hong owed this to his best friend, and his god son. His own son would have to learn to take this like a man and grow up. He had always got everything he ever wanted. And that's probably why his son couldn't accept it that he actually lost something. And it's probably the only thing he wanted the most. A pity. But the mayor knew, it's a lost cause for Liu Minzhe to still aimed for Dayu.
Dayu couldn't be more thankful to the Mayor; his god father. Liu Minzhe was trying hard to mess everything up but the mayor was there to smooth the wrinkles his son caused.
Dayu had not tell Qing, however. About any of these things. He didn't want Qing to worry or worse, his fiance would most likely go to Goderich and Facebook Minzhe himself.
Qing had made it very clear when they met Liu Minzhe last time, that he wouldn't tolerate Liu Minzhe trying to associate with Dayu in any way, whatsoever.
Qing would definitely lost his head if he learnt that Liu Minzhe had been trying to mess up their wedding preparations back in Goderich. And facing Liu Minzhe would not be the worst thing Qing could do.
Dayu also didn't told Qing because Liu Minzhe hadn't actually approached him, directly. So, just like how Dayu's family was ignoring Liu Minzhe's actions, Dayu too was trying to ignore it as well.
But. It's a different thing now. Liu Minzhe had sent him an email. The man finally approached him directly.
I need to tell Qing. About everything now. Dayu thought. Liu Minzhe hadn't gone too far. To try to approach Dayu like this, meant that the man was still far from giving up. And Dayu wasn't exactly so foolish as to believe that if he agreed to meet Liu Minzhe , it would be the last time they met. And that Liu Minzhe would give up. If anything, if Dayu agreed to meet, Liu Minzhe would probably convinced himself that Dayu still has some feelings for him. And he would clung tighter.
No. Meeting that man alone, is not an option. It's foolish. It's dangerous. And it's not right. Dayu would tell Qing. Everything.
He and Qing needed to discuss how they're going to deal with this. Together.
