"Bailiff! Take Mr Brown away! I now pronounce the defendant Justin Tyme, Not Guilty." Well I won the case, but not I'm out of a job.
I was sitting on a bench near Gourd Lake thinking on what I was going to do when I heard a child's voice, "Excuse me, miss. Are you ok?"
"I'm fine, I was just thinking. My boss got arrested for murder and now I don't have anywhere to work and I was already down on paying my rent. I just don't know what to do."
"Follow me I know somewhere you can work." I followed him, "By the way, the name's Miles, Miles Edgeworth."
"I'm (Y/n) (L/n). Thank you. Have your parents not told you that you shouldn't take to strangers?"
"It's just me and my father. Mother died when I was born, but father always told me 'Miles if you ever see someone who looks distressed or upset, even if they're a stranger, ask them what's wrong and see if you can do anything to help.' and you looked like you needed help so."
We eventually arrived outside a house and Miles led me inside, "Father! I have someone for you too meet!" A man came out, he looked to be in his early 30s, "Miles, who's this?"
"Father this is (Y/n), I found her sitting near Gourd Lake when I was walking back from school. She said that she didn't have anywhere to work because her boss was arrested for murder oh and she also doesn't have enough money to pay her rent. Can she stay with us?"
"It's fine! I can stay in a hotel! You don't need to, I don't even kno.." I was cut off. "(Y/n), it's perfectly fine. We have a guest bed."
"Are you sure? I wouldn't want to be a burden."
"It wouldn't be a burden, (Y/n). It would be an honour to have you stay with us."
"Thank you, Mr Edgeworth."
"Just call me Gregory. No need for formalities."
I eventually moved in permanently with the Edgeworths and I bonded very well with Miles. I see him as my own son, even though he's not mine biologically.
GREGORY POV - Underlined is conscience not underlined is thoughts.
I had noticed how much (Y/n) had bonded with Miles. They're like mother and son. I felt my stomach clench. I hadn't felt like that since I met Miles's mother. Oh no. Get a hold of yourself man! You said you would not fall in love again! But she's just perfect and she's bonded well with Miles. You'll have to go through heartbreak again! If it means I have even the slightest chance with her, I'm prepared for it. You know I give up! When you need a conscience I won't be here, your own your own. Good! you just get in the way anyway.
MILES POV
I noticed Father had been acting odd these past few months, I wonder what's up? That's when I realised, "Father, do you love (Y/n)?"
"I have no idea what you're talking about, son."
"Come on, Father. I've seen the way you look at her. You know, she look's the same way at you. She also likes you as well."
"You're not pulling my leg are you son?"
"I'm not Father! I was talking to her yesterday when she picked me up and she asked me why you let her stay with us for so long, because she said that she had a friend who was in the same situation as her but the people that looked after them kicked them out after a week saying they were a burden."
Just then (Y/n) came into the room, "So what are we doing today? Seeing as it's the weekend?"
I gave Father a sign to go and talk to her. "(Y/n), can I talk to you please?" finally!
