The following days went by exactly as Darion said: as if nothing had ever happened. With each passing day the sun grew stronger and nights got warmer but, as vampires, controlling fog needed little effort, especially in the morning but at times the sun was too strong to keep going, burning through their fog, forcing them to travel and feed only at night, which slowed them down. What should have taken them a few weeks easily became more than one month and they were now traveling right across one of Leon's fortresses, less than a couple of weeks away. It was the highest risk they could take, but the clock was ticking and they could not afford going further into the South. The boys hid the truth from the sisters, but even they could feel something was not right, especially with both Eden and Darion staying much closer to them than usual.
