You heard your phone ring with the sound of invisible string playing; your ringtone for your girlfriend, who you are only minutes away from seeing again.

A pang of sadness hit you when you continued to let it ring and go to voicemail. You knew she has to be worried about you since it's in the evening now and you haven't returned any of her texts or calls, no matter how much she pleads for you to do so.

But you know the minute you answer and the second you hear her voice, you'd let the cat out of the bag and you can't do it now; not when you're walking down the hallway of the hotel she's staying in for the next two nights.

You didn't plan to come here tonight. It was more spur of the moment after she called you late last night, crying as she confessed just how much she was missing you and how deeply it was hurting her to be away from you with another month left before she'd be able to come home.

You know if the shoe was on the other foot, if you were the one with this kind of lifestyle, she'd be flying out to see you in a heartbeat. You love her too much to just tell her to hang on and it wouldn't be much longer, especially when you miss her just as much.

You looked at all the room numbers as you passed by until you reached the end of the hall and stood in front of the door of her hotel room; room 213, of course.

You knocked on the door and heard Taylor call out that she would be there in only a minute. You waited impatiently, tapping your foot on the floor as you tried to control the pounding of your heart.

She opened the door, a few words on the tip of her tongue as she expected to find a maid or hotel employee, but everything faded from her mind when she saw you standing there. Her breath hitched in her throat and her eyes went wide before they lit up.

"Surprise! Did you miss me?" You asked, only for her to pick you up and spin you around in her arms. You laughed and laid your head on her chest and you heard her heart hammering against her ribcage.

"Of course I missed you! I can't believe you're here!" She spoke ecstatically and tugged on your hand to lead you inside. You dragged your suitcase behind you and dropped it on the floor, as well as the bag that was over your shoulder.

You turned around and right away, her lips were on yours. She moved her hand to your cheek as she moved her lips passionately against your own; a long overdue and loving kiss being shared, one that made your heart skip a beat and your fingers shake.

"I've missed you." She whispered as she pulled away. "My beautiful girl. That's why you didn't answer my calls or texts."

"I knew if I did, I'd never be able to keep it from you. I wanted to surprise you! Was it a good surprise?"

She laughed and walked you back until you fell onto the bed. Hovering over you, she ran her fingertips along your side as they slipped under your shirt, soft little kisses laid across your face as she let her worries fade and a happy beat return to her heart because finally, you were by her side again at last.

"The best surprise." She whispered as she trailed her lips to yours. "I love you so much."

"I love you, Tay." You whispered and smiled as she kissed the corners of your lips.

"How long do I have you by my side for?"

"Two weeks."

Her eyes lit up, her smile grew and she pushed her lips back onto yours.

"I'm so happy!" She giggled, making your chest fill with butterflies. "You must've had a long flight. Are you sleepy?"

"Not at all. It's still early in the evening and I plan on spending it with you."

She pulled you back in for another kiss and let it all sink in. You're really here with her, making her the happiest woman in the world for coming so far to surprise her and make her feel better again.

She was so in love with you and wanted to cherish these moments with you, wishing that they'd never end.
