You looked down at the scars across your stomach.

You can vividly remember the surgery you underwent just a couple weeks ago. Now, with the stitches out, it gave you the opportunity to look at the scars that remained on your skin.

Every time you saw them you remembered that day. How scared you were, how many tears you shed.

But you also remember Taylor being there; how she held your hand and reassured you that it was all gonna be okay as the anesthesiologist put the mask over your face and had you breathe deeply. You remember her being right by your side, her hand intertwined with yours when you opened your eyes just a few hours later.

The surgery wasn't super serious but it wasn't minor, either. But the scars it left behind, both physical and mental, were there.

You didn't like the way they looked on your skin. You stared at them with a look of disgust and a feeling of shame.

Taylor stood in the doorway, watching you quietly while you blinked away tears and thought of your body as anything but beautiful.

She was ready to change that.

"You okay?" She asked as she sat next to you on the bed. Her hands traveled to your shoulders before she kissed your temple softly.

You shook your head. You tried to pull your shirt down but Taylor caught it in her fingers and tugged it back up.

"Don't. You're beautiful. These scars are beautiful. I know this experience was hard on you but it's only made me love you more. You're so strong and so brave for getting through it." She smiled as she kissed your cheeks.

"Your body went through a lot and you made it through. I'm proud of you. Don't hate these scars. They're a part of you, and therefore, they're beautiful." She smiled and cupped your cheeks in her hands before she pulled you in for a hug and kissed the top of your head.

You put your forehead on her shoulder and smiled. It'd take you a little time but with Taylor constantly there to remind you, you'd hopefully find the scars beautiful in time, too.
