This was the day. The day you've been waiting for since Taylor left almost seven months ago. It felt as though time had dragged by, each day without her felt longer than the last. The house was too big without her there with you and the cats and the bed was too cold without her there to hold you.
But there were no more long, lonely nights. She was gonna be here at any moment! It was just a matter of time.
And about ten minutes later, there she was. With her head down, she walked through the airport. But once the screams erupted from fans that would always be able to recognize her anywhere she went, she actually lifted her head. Since she was getting closer and closer, you caught a glimpse of her.
Her skin looked pale. She looked tired. Of course, that was a given. You know she loves to tour but you also know that she probably didn't get much sleep over these last few months. But she looked exhausted. She looked drained; of all her energy and color.
But regardless of that, you still threw your arms around her when she was finally in front of you. She hugged you back but her grip was way looser than you imagined it being. You buried your face in her neck, and that's when you felt how feverish her skin was.
You pulled away immediately. With a look of worry in your eyes, you laid your hand against her forehead. She had a fever.
"Oh, Tay." You mumbled sadly. She was starting to shiver. She hugged you close to her, desperate to feel your warm skin against her own. Not just because she missed you, although she missed you more than words could say, but also because she was freezing and you were warm.
"C'mon, baby girl. Let's get you home." You rubbed her back as you exited the airport. You got into the cab that was waiting there for you. The driver loaded her bags into the trunk of the car while Taylor curled up in your lap.
Although you hoped she'd come home on a much happier note, you really adored the way she was curling up to you. It was nice after her being away for far too long.
You brushed your fingers through her short blonde locks. There were a few beads of sweat collecting on her forehead and you were quick to wipe them away from her skin. "I've got you, Tay. Sleep if you can. We'll be home in a bit."
As uncomfortable as she felt, she somehow managed to fall asleep. You tipped the driver and he quickly unloaded Taylor's bags from the trunk. While he did so, you started to wake your obviously miserable feeling girlfriend.
"Baby? Hey. We're home." You whispered as she opened her eyes.
"Y/N?"
"Yeah?"
"I don't feel very well." She admitted and rubbed her eyes as she slowly sat up.
You got out of the cab first and then helped her out. "I know, baby. I'm gonna get you all cozy in bed. Let you sleep the day away."
That really was the opposite of what she wanted. But it was impossible to find it in herself to complain when she felt so miserable.
You grabbed her bags and unlocked the door. You set her stuff down on the floor and locked the door behind you. "Up to bed." You said, nodding toward the stairs.
"Without you?" She whined.
"I'll be there in just a second. Just gonna grab you some water."
She pouted but obliged nonetheless. You pressed a delicate little kiss to her warm, soft cheek and watched her take the stairs one at a time. You quickly grabbed a bottle of cold water for her to drink on, as well as a bucket - just in case she needed it.
You didn't know what kind of 'sick' she felt exactly. You weren't sure if it'd be the kind that would mean she'd be vomiting most of the day or laying in bed to sleep as much as she could. Either way, it absolutely shattered your heart to see her feeling so sick.
You made your way upstairs. You saw she was already laying in bed. Her eyes were closed but they opened when she heard your footsteps.
"You okay? I got you some water if you're thristy. I also got you a bucket in case you feel like you're gonna throw up."
She groaned and snuggled up under the blankets. "Thank you."
"Of course. Anything for my girl."
"Anything?" She mumbled tiredly, to which you nodded. "Even cuddles?"
You just giggled and climbed in bed beside her. She let her warm forehead fall onto your shoulder. She sighed contently because as sick as she feels, she's still holding you close for the first time in months. There was no better feeling.
"I'm sorry I'm not feeling well. I had so many ideas of what we could do when I got home. I was thinking of ice cream or a late-night walk through the park. Movie marathons and shared kisses. A candlelit dinner. I had ideas, but they all fell through."
You chuckled and brushed your fingers through her hair. It seemed to help her relax more. "We've got all the time in the world for that. No need to worry about it at all. Just rest. That's all I want you to do right now."
She nodded tiredly, already drifting off to sleep. "Got lots of exciting stories to share with you." She mumbled.
"I look forward to hearing them." You kissed her forehead and rubbed her back. She coughed a few times but relaxed again, quickly falling asleep just a few moments later.
"Love you, my baby. I'm so happy that you're home! I hope you feel better and have sweet dreams." You kissed the crown of her head and continued to brush your fingers through her soft blonde hair until you fell asleep; so content and so happy that she was finally home again.
