You laid on one end of the couch while Taylor laid on the other and your daughter was comfortably laying against Taylor's chest.
It's movie night and your daughter was thrilled about it. But after having a long week at work and taking care of the eight-year-old in mostly all of your free time, it left you completely exhausted. And Taylor the same.
You both fell asleep, but you ended up falling asleep with your glasses on. Being the curious child she is, she managed to sneak out of Taylor's arms and crawl onto your lap. She carefully pulled off your glasses and started to play around with them.
Little giggles left her lips as she twirled them around in her fingers. She put them on her face but they immediately slid back off because of how big they are on her. They fell to the ground with a loud crack.
You woke up as soon as you heard the sound of the glass breaking.
But your daughter was afraid. She thought you'd get mad at her for breaking them.
She crawled back onto Taylor's lap causing her to wake up as well. "Honey? What is it?' She mumbled tiredly and rubbed her eyes before moving her hands to the little girls back and soothingly rubbing her shoulders.
She had tears in her eyes as she watched you blindly search for your glasses. But that's when it hit you. You saw your broken glasses on the floor and you let out a little groan.
You looked over at your daughter to find her curling up to Taylor. Your vision was slightly blurred but you could tell she was scared. "Oh, baby girl. Come here. It's okay, I'm not mad."
She rubbed her eyes but crawled back on your lap. She buried her face in your sweater and cried. You sat up and started to rub her back while Taylor got up to clean up the broken glass from the floor.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to break them, I'm really sorry." She cried into your shirt. "Honey, have I ever yelled at you?" You asked as you pulled her head from your shirt and cupped her chin in your palm.
You wiped the tears away from her cheeks and watched her shake her head. "Exactly. I've never yelled at you before and I'm not gonna yell at you now. It's okay, it's not a big deal. I'll go get a new pair tomorrow."
She sniffled and leaned her cheek against your palm. She smiled a little, one that always made you smile along with her. "Everything okay?" Taylor asked as she sat back down on the couch and yawned.
"Yeah, everything's fine." You said and pressed a kiss to your little girl's soft cheek. She stretched her legs out over yours and put her head back on your shoulder. Taylor watched you both close your eyes before she laid back down and let her eyes close, too.
"Love you." Your daughter said against your shoulder. "Love you more." You planted a kiss on her head and fell back asleep, this time with your daughter happily wrapped up in your arms.
