"She asleep?" Taylor checked as she peeked over your shoulder to see if your little baby girl was asleep yet.
At only eight days old, it was rare that she got a lot of sleep, and the same went for you both too. But, to ease the stress you're both under, Taylor had the idea of turning a movie on and spending the evening together, and she's feeling excited about it because as much as she loves your little girl, she has missed having your attention since your daughter came into the world just last week.
"Yeah, I think so." You whispered and tried to move without waking her. But your body ached everywhere and moving around on your own is still a bit of a challenge.
Lucky you, though. Because Taylor is always there and is always happy to help.
"Here. Let me take her. I'll go put her in her crib." She held her arms open and you carefully moved your baby girl out of your arms and into hers. She whimpered slightly at the sudden movement but Taylor shushed her softly, calming her down instantly.
"Shh. Come on, Emma. It's alright, baby girl." She cooed and walked over to the other side of the room. She gently laid in her crib and brushed her fingers over the hair on her head. She gave her a kiss and then made her way back over to you.
"So? What should we watch?"
You stretched your arms out over your head and shrugged tiredly. "I don't know, Tay. Are you sure you wanna watch a movie? I'm a little tired."
She's usually understanding. But, she's been missing spending time with you like crazy! All she wants is two hours of your time.
"I feel like asking for time with you is like asking for the world." She grumbled. "It's just one movie, Y/N. Please?"
"Why is it such a big deal, Tay? There's always tomorrow!"
"You'll be busy with the baby again. You'll be tired again,"
"She's eight days old. What do you expect?"
"All I want is a little time with you!" She said as she tugged at her hair. "I get that it's hard to have time together when our baby is just a little over a week old but I miss you! I miss having your attention. I miss being able to hold you like before." She whispered the last part as tears seemed to sting in her eyes.
She had raised her voice before, although only accidentally. But that was all it took.
Emma started to cry from across the room. Cries soon turned to wails. She was looking for either one of you to comfort her after the sudden loud sound.
Taylor sighed and walked to her. "Sorry, baby. Mommy didn't mean to wake you. She just got a little frustrated." She whispered in Emma's ear and rubbed her back.
But just a few seconds later Taylor jumped at the feeling of your arms wrapping around her. It was quiet for a few seconds. Only the sound of Emma's whimpers seemed to fill the tension in the air.
"Why are you up?" Taylor asked. "You should be in bed, darling. You're hurting."
"So are you." You whispered. "Taylor, I'm sorry but I don't know what to do. She's a baby, she needs attention."
Taylor nodded as she placed Emma back in her crib since she was sleeping again. She turned around and put her hands on your shoulders. They were tense beneath her fingertips. "I know. Y/N, that's not what I meant. I know she needs our attention, I'm happy to give it to her. I just wanna give you some, too. I've missed you. I'm in awe of you and I wanna appreciate you but I feel like, sometimes, I don't have the chance because we're either too busy, too stressed, or too tired." She explained.
"I know. I think we both have some adjusting to do." You mumbled, to which Taylor nodded her head in agreement.
"I agree. I just... I don't wanna be that couple that loses that magic. I know we still have a lifetime to go too. But I just wanna spend some time with you. Give you a little love. Because, baby, after everything you went through to bring our little girl into this world, I only fell more in love with you."
"I love you, too." You smiled as you looped your arms around her neck. "I get where you're coming from, Tay. If you wanna watch that movie, we can."
She bit her lip and let her forehead fall against yours. "I have a better idea. How about we pick a series and we watch one episode each day whenever we have the time. That way, we have some time together and we can still get some rest when we have the chance."
"I like that idea!" You grinned and stole a kiss from her lips. You peeked into the crib. Your heart melted at the sight of your daughter fast asleep. "She's a little angel." You mumbled.
"She is. I love her to the moon and,"
"To Saturn?" You grinned.
"Yes." She chuckled as she hugged you from behind as you both watched your daughter sleep. "And you, too." She smiled as she kissed your neck softly. "Feel like watching that show, now? I'll help you back into bed."
"Okay." You took her hand as you went back to bed. Covered up with the blankets and wrapped in Taylor's arms only a moment later, she turned on a series on Netflix that you'd both be hooked on soon enough; a show where you'd both be excited to watch the next episode, together.
"I love you lots." She whispered in your ear then kissed behind it. Heart swelling with love as you smiled softly when her lips brushed against your skin.
"Love you too, Tay."
