You slowly and carefully rolled over in bed in your light slumber. You expected to be wrapped in Taylor's arms upon doing so, but all you felt were the warm sheets where she usually lays.

"Tay?" You mumbled, sitting up and rubbing the sleep from your eyes. After a few seconds of silence you reached over and turned the lamp on and when the room lit up, you noticed that Taylor was nowhere to be found.

You swung your legs over the bed and carefully climbed out. You took it slowly since your body still ached, but when you made it into the hallway you knew exactly where she was at. Your two eight-day-old daughter's room was lit up from the nightlight and as you stepped closer and closer you could hear Taylor's sweet voice.

She was singing 'never grow up'. It's one of your favorites and you can't help but hope that it might be your little girl's favorite when she grows up.

You stood in the doorway and leaned against the wall. Your body ached a little, but you found comfort in the sight that awaited you. Taylor was pacing the room, humming and singing to your daughter as she held her to her chest. You found it sweet how Taylor was dressed in the same colored pajamas as your daughter. Her hair was pulled into a messy bun. Some loose strands were falling out of it, but she still looked so beautiful, even from where you stood.

She turned around and jumped when she saw you standing there.

"You scared me." She whispered.

"Sorry, babe."

"Why aren't you in bed? You know you need as much sleep as you can get right now, y/n."

"So do you, Tay." You replied and stepped closer to her. "You're just as tired as I am. The past few days haven't been easy."

"But they've been some of the best of my life." She said, stroking the little girl's cheek. "I can't sleep much, y/n. Not when I only have two days left to spend here before I leave for two months."

You sighed and kissed her shoulder.

"Do you know how long that is? I never thought of it like that when I toured before she came along. But now I can't help but feel like it's... forever. I'm gonna miss out on a lot."

"Tay,"

"It's so unfair. I can't cancel but I want to stay with you. I can't bring you along because it's too much, too risky for her right now. Two months without my girls seems like torture."

"We'll be right here waiting for you to get home." You promised as you rubbed her shoulder. "Taylor, I know it's hard. But it's not forever. It's not like you're going off of the face of the earth. There's still FaceTime, which I know you'll love."

"We're gonna be doing that at least twice a day, if not more. Every chance I get."

You chuckled but nodded in agreement and laid a kiss to her shoulder once more.

"We're gonna be just fine here. It's gonna take adjusting, but we'll get through it. Look how long we've been apart before. I know it's different, that it was before she was born. But we made it through. Because we're strong like that."

"I know." She mumbled and cracked a smile as your daughter yawned. "If anything happens, you have to call me that exact moment and I promise you I'll be on the next flight out. No exceptions."

"Okay. But I know we're safe here. Meredith is here to keep us safe and no one is gonna mess with her."

Taylor laughed and craned her neck to kiss you softly.

"But we'll be safe and sound the whole time. Your parents are close by, we've got ways to communicate and see each other until you get home. It'll fly by once it begins."

"I sure hope so." She spoke, staring at the little girl in her arms. She was the perfect mix of the both of you and she swore that she'd never felt happier.

"I love you, Tay." You whispered and set your cheek on her shoulder so you could both marvel at your little one.

"I love you, y/n. Both of you." She whispered back. "Don't know what I'd ever do without you two. I love you more than anything."
